Also available at the local Verizon stores if u want to pay full retail

I would take his claims with a grain of salt, he claims to own a 5g capable note.

They are just doing their usual drip feeding of features. They could out all these features put at the same time like Samsung but they hold things back. Let’s be real they could have had a bigger phone out last year but they held off until this year just to drive upgrades.

Sure they could have, if Samsung was capable of producing enough oled displays for both the iPhone X and X max las year, Samsung couldn’t.

But with lg joining the supply chain, it shouldn’t be a problem going forward.

The Note definitely isn't selling out everywhere, not like the typical iPhone releases of the past at least. I'm sure it's sold out in some places, especially the 512GB model.
My carrier has the 512GB available but not the 128GB in black or blue.

I don’t care if the phone sells out or not. All I want to know is that the phone I want is available when I want to buy it.

Can’t really tell if the iphone is sold out as it just says pre-order for delivery from 21/09.

It’s working... I have to spend less for the year to make up the sum of monies that I’ll be spending for the Max, and same goes with my other friends whose been hold back last year due to the luck of the bigger screen X.

I think the best year for the note was the 7, in terms of buzz. It was backordered everywhere in the UK. It’s a shame the way it went though.

Since his claim I first responded to was a cut ‘n paste from other threads he gets into, I did.

I really like the Note 9, and if I were looking at Android it would be at the top of my list. But I’m spoiled with Apple’s ecosystem. Hard to even contemplate moving away from it though I could if I had to.

It happens.

Nothing wrong with that, but I know what you mean, some call the ecosystem restrictive, but that’s only from the outside looking in .

Never really contemplated moving away from Apple, too much effort and not enough reward.

This was easily the biggest miss for me, and it legit pissed me off that they didn't include it. I get that a lot of folks don't care and wouldn't use split-screen, even if it was available. The point for me though, is it would be an option, not a requirement to use. I love the idea of giving the users options to use, what on a smartphone is, massive sreen real estate to fit their personal workflow. Big miss from Apple. I think at some point they'll offer it, but if they aren't interested in doing so with the Max right now, it'll be a long while.
They’d probably have to up the RAM to run dual-screen and that might cost a few dollars per unit.

The iPhone is the Ford F-150 of smartphones, or the McDonald's Big Mac of smartphones. Meaning, yes it's the best seller for sure, but who cares about sales numbers, I hate Big Mac's and the iPhone, but it's something masses lap up, for everyday Joe Blow. It's a generic device, that is way overpriced for what it is.

Just proves brainwashing marketing is real. Put lipstick on a pig, and they'll think it's beautiful.

Don’t think your analogy works here, both Ford and McDonald’s are low price-high volume business. Apple is unique in that they are a high price and high volume business.

McDonald’s doesn’t sell any 1000-1500 dollar burger to the masses.

Don’t think it’s marketing either, or that would have helped HTC, lg, and Samsung.

Perhaps consumers are purchasing iPhones based on their the iPhones merits and not marketing.
Hence the repeat business.

The $70,000 Ford F-150 is low priced ? They are very high priced trucks, even the BS starter truck stripped nothing on it is like $25k, a good one, not totally decked out, but just a nice truck is $45k all day long, and then the Raptor decked out truck is $70k +

The Note 9 is available for pickup today at my local BestBuy, hardly ‘sold out everywhere’

You are lucky because many are waiting for theirs they pre-ordered still.
[doublepost=1537141917][/doublepost]
Seriously? What is Google doing then? Even Samsung, Huawei et al?

Umm, they don't limit you on the devices on what you can do. Apple does that.

Yea, I hate the argument that a specific feature won't be used much. There are plenty of features I don't use on a regular basis, but when I need it, it's there. And that's one of the reasons I shell money out for.

I've always had the latest iPhone and Android device at the same time. And even though Android has always been more customizable and feature packed(especially Samsung), iPhones have always matched the main/most important features.

But now iOS/iPhone is trailing too far behind the times for my taste. AOD and split screen(on large displays) should be mandatory. USB-C as well, I can't stand the sensitive lightening cable/port. Dual sim had me excited for a second, until I realized it's this e-sim crap. You can't simply swap different sims.

How about you quit acting like a child because you were wrong on the 5G and I proved it with multiple links and now every post I am in you are following me around attacking me with it since. Grow up.

I love ford. Don’t even get me started on the svt lightning or the Lincoln Blackwood.

But the f150 even the (king ranch and raptor edition)is a low priced high volume 4x4 in a market where vw and bmw sell 4x4s in the 250,000-500,000 dollar range, high price low volume business model

Once again 70k is relatively expensive to 4x4s with in the ford brand but not the market as a whole. Even within ford the gt is the flagship model and that is also a high price low volume business model supplementing fords other high volume low price business model.

Again Apple in a weird place, because the iPhone has become a high volume, high sales business.

And as I mentioned earlier McDonald wasn’t accurate at all.

Post wasn’t directed at you, and at no point am I following you or attacking you.

You made outlandish claims, such as “you have a 5g note 8” or “the note 9, s9 and s8 all have 5g” which is factually incorrect. You keep making it. Other poster corrected you but your still going on about it even here.

Case in point:

I'll enjoy 5G in Dallas and Austin with my Note 9 till Apple decides to put the chip in their phones. I saw over 250 down in Dallas 2 weeks ago. My X only saw 60 down. Crazy fast.

Laugh, you obviously don't have a clue. Yes they do. Samsung S8, N8 and newer devices all have the support for 5G in the 1st stage. The iPhones won't see this for several years especially if they leave Qualcomm.

For reference sake there:

Here is the first 5g prototype phone currently being tested by Qualcomm.

As you can see the first 5g prototype handsets are neither the note 8 or actually in your possession.

Kindly refrain from personal attacks which is against forum rules.

Have a wonderful evening

LOL $250k and $500k for a BMW what ? Even the super highest end top of the line BMW ///M5 all decked out might cost $130,000, no more. And Volkswagen LOL LOL those are average cars, I think they top out at like $50k.

The sweet BMW M3 four door is like $65k, or another awesome car the C7 Corvette Z06 is like $75,000 or so.

Only cars selling in the $250k - $500k range are the highest of high end super sports cars. Maybe the Bentley SUV all decked out which can be like $290k.

Well yes and no, rolls Royce is owned by bmw and their new Cullen suv is between 250,000-500,000.

Lol indeed.
Vw owns Bentley, Lamborghini, Audi, Bugatti, Porsche( interesting story Porsche tried to take over VW and almost succeeded until the market crashed and VW ended up swallowing Porsche;abridged version can talk about that deal all day but not the right forum).

So yes lol at vw, but Porsche Cayenne, Bentley bentayga, and Lamborghini urus are all 4x4 owned and sold by vw.

As I was saying the Bentley Bentayga has an option for a dashboard mounted clock. It cost $250,000. Mind you that is only one option, the clock and not the price of the car. In fact that option cost more than a base price bentayga.

So yes price is rather relative.
And in the market of 4x4 ford is dirt cheap in comparison.
Again price is relative, value isn’t.

Surprising isn’t it.

Ok...but the iPhone has no place in this kinda analogy. It's just a commodity item like a high end 'Wolf' brand oven, or 'Subzero' refrigerator. Both are appliances, but high end ones.

The iPhone is no Bentley of smartphones LOL

Nope as I said from the beginning it was a poor analogy on your part.

Yes wolf and sub zero are both high end but both are LOW VOLUME.

And yes the iPhone is not a Bentley, which is high price and LOW VOLUME

iPhone is high price AND high volume.

There are NO analogies. it is a unique business model that only one other company has come close but again cannot compare because that company is private and registered as a foundation, while Apple are public and is incorporated.

Again the Bentley and the rolls Royce analogy was relative to your example of Ford, it has nothing to do with the iPhone.

Neither was your analogy comparing it to Macdonald’s.

It has nothing to do with commodity or values.

We are taking about business models.

Do you understand?

My Apple products are becoming obsolete too fast. 2009 IMac, iPhone 6, 2010 MBP, and really can't afford the new ones so I might dump all my Apple products and go back to Linux with a dual boot Windows 10, Apple has just priced there self out of the market for most consumers..

Iphone has definitely NOT lost its luster. Absolutely not.
It still has gold luster all over it. Get it and get bling bling all over.

Where I am at on the same $50 monthly phone plan 2-years contract, the phone price:

Iphone XS Max (512Gb) $1100
Note 9 (512 Gb) $400

Iphone is definitely worth the gold (fake gold that is)

Woman says Galaxy Note 9 burst into flames inside her purse

Source:
https://nypost.com/2018/09/15/woman-says-galaxy-note-9-burst-into-flames-inside-her-purse/

How do these batteries work and why do they catch fire?

A lithium-ion battery is a kind of rechargeable battery that uses different materials, one holding positive ions and the other holding negative ions. Called the cathode and the anode respectively, these ions move one way when charging, and back again when discharging — being used.

These two layers — or conductors — are never supposed to touch; so manufacturers insert separators to keep them apart. The chemical reaction that makes batteries work creates heat. Overcharging the packs — or charging them too fast — can lead to fires.
