To you maybe, but nobody that I know that has an iphone worries about these mundane "problems". Our iPhones work, and work well doing all the things we want them to do. By the way, how are folks measuring these 0.5 sec. delays or whatever parameter they are using? LOL

It's not working as well if it's running slower though. Good for you if you can't notice it, but plenty of other people are, which is why this thread exists and why it's so lengthy. I don't know why you'd want to defend slower software.

You miss my point. I am not defending, per se, slower software. What I am saying is to most folks, this "bug" doesn't matter, because most of us don't consider it a bug because we don't even notice it. So to us, it isn't slower, it just works.

So removing a 0.5 second delay is a "whole new world of performance" for an iPhone when going back to 10.3.3

but when comparing a Note to the faster iPhone

See the problem here? It's almost like you'll take up any position that seems convenient to criticize Apple but defend Android. Hmm.

There is a difference between input lag and load time.

Except he was talking about load time....

There is a difference between input lag and load time.

So it's ok to wait "half a second" extra (actually more like 3 on average, as per that thread) to load but not to wait half a second (half a second precisely) to go to the home screen? Only one of these is a whole new world of performance? Does that seem right to you?

You don’t seem to understand those are completely different scenarios. One is input lag and the other is load time. With the home button delay the entire phone is sluggish to use as I need to wait for my input to be recognised AND then wait for the animation to finish loading the home screen . The Note 8 takes slightly more time loading an app. The Note 8 responds to my input instantly.

I have used an S6 in the past and it was perfectly competitive with my iPhone. If I can’t get an X I am getting the Note 8 after trading in my 7 Plus.

I understand perfectly well. They both waste your time. The Note wastes a lot more of it.

An unresponsive phone is worse than a slight app delay. I can easily turn off the animations on the Note and close the gap even more. Facebook Twitter WhatsApp and chrome launch at essentially the same speed on both devices. Can I fix the home button?

You sound like a shill for Apple. If you’re not interested in this topic, don’t engage in it. Simple. Right now, by coming in and telling people to “get a life”, you’re just trolling.

So a contrary opinion is not allowed to be posted? This thread, with its "bug" discussion needed to hear that it is not the be all end all of iOS 11. Trolling, me? Nope.

Can't stop it ejecting half the apps from memory though. Those slower loads are repeated over and over...

Cool, if all you use your $960 phone for is Facebook and the like.

I don't do heavy video rendering or publishing on my phone so no chance of apps getting ejected.

What does anyone do on a phone? Gaming, browsing, chat apps ,emails. I am getting the iPhone X for just that and if no stock then the Note 8. I buy $960 phones because I like the designs screens and performance of these phones. I haven't come close to utilising the performance of my 7 Plus let alone the Note 8 and X. Of course this is apart from those irritating stutters which are plaguing iOS 11 atm

You don’t need to. Even simple apps and games will get killed.

Look at this thing. 6Gb and it can’t touch a device with 3Gb. Disgraceful.
At,least view the video you posted. Not a single app was ejected in that video. You are confusing the Note 8 with the S8 Plus which ejected those apps but only after he ran a video rendering test on it.

Furthermore the Note 8 has the Spen and is a more capable phone than the 7 Plus so this isn't even an apples to apples comparison.

I thought this was normal as there's always been a little delay on touching the home button for me. It's worse on my iPad Pro 10.5 on iOS 10.3.3, but it's still there on my 7+'on 10.3.3. I'll hear the click and then an instant later it happens, never at the same time.

The Galaxy probably can hold apps much longer but they probably decided to be more aggressive with swapping out apps due to battery considerations. I remember OnePlus did something like that as well and that was the official explanation as to low RAM utilization/swapping vs the large GB spec, basically they just decided to add more GB for specs sake. I'm sure someone at XDA will tweak the RAM management but will probably see lower battery life.

My month old iPad Pro 12.9 2nd gen is staying on 10.3.3 till they fix it. I don't trust Apple to support their older devices
Its been like this ever since IOS 7. It takes apple until .2 build to get things smoothed out.
IMO they should wait a bit longer for releases, the team obviously needs more time.

Cracks me up that there are 195 posts about something so inconsequential and mundane. Some of you folks need a life.

No s**t. I cant believe i just watched a video of some dudes finger opening and closing apps over and over again to show a .5 second “delay”. Its making re-evaluate some life decisions now, i think. Ironically, all the time spent making that ridiculous video, and posting and following this thread will probably not even add up to all the precious milliseconds added together he’s losing using ios11 over the next few months.

The time taken to evaluate life decisions is inversely proportional to the amount of lag you perceive.

I am rolling back to 10.3.3 for the time being. Will install 11 and set as new to see if it has happened due to update or not.

I may be doing the same tomorrow on my iPhone 7 Plus till I get the go ahead from the folks here whether the delay is fixed.
