just form the design point of view
- designed more like the LED displays
- new backlit keyboard (with black keys)
- new multi-touch mighty mouse (black or aluminum)

all the comments of getting rid of the sharp edges are very funny. apple loves sharp edges, they'd never get rid of them! silly

I am going to be creating a recording studio in my house pretty soon, and I am leaning more towards an iMac than a Mac Pro due to the recent rumors and overall cost. However, I will not be buying the current revision.

What I would Like to See:

-More FireWire/USB Ports
-LED Screens
-Matte Option
-Quad Core and better baseline GPU...integrated 9400M is not cutting it.
-Lower Prices
-Complete redesign, the remove the metal at the bottom of the screen.
-User replaceable parts...easier access to HDD and RAM
-More RAM slots

The GPU! Same old story..... car salesman tactics. You want a half decent GPU? well we will make sure you dont have that option unless you want to buy more memory, bigger hard drive and faster CPU. Only then will we even option a half decent GPU.

God I hate that crap apple has played for so long. You want even the option for the superior 4850? You must buy everything else first.

Integrated graphics are still just crippling the whole sytem in a effort to get you to buy more. Crippling sucks! All Buyers beware of the integrated graphics period. How long must we play this game?

edit : writing this on the 2.4 imac with 2600pro. Apple got rid of that one quick. 2 years later the 20" is handicapped with a.......9400M...here we go again.

it already change now I feel that I like this new iMac with 27 inch. If you want me to state one function that apple should change is the display card ,I don't want to use a display card which is by using sharing mamory. I think most of you agree with me LOL

Now that I read this post again, this guy was such a tool. So quick to judge peoples response, yet he was wrong in just about everything he said.

He has knowledge but his attitude sucked.

Actually, 27" didn't seem logical. Most 27" panels has the same 1920x1200 resolution but Apple of course, didn't follow the mainstream and uses a custom resolution of 2550 x 1440 and it hasn't been used before, so it was hard to predict that Apple will do that.

I wonder if Apple will do 30" iMac?

Not for another few years I think. This was the biggest iMac update for years so I think we won't see anything but speed bumps for at least a year. IF they release a 30" iMac or display, that would have to have a bigger resolution than current does, maybe 3200 x 2048 or 3840 x 2160. As the latest update showed us, everything is possible

Lol isn't 30" a bit big, 27" is already pretty big:D

I sometimes dream that apple will announce an Imac Pro, 28 inch all silver chassis with a processing frequency of 3.5 ghz (more than likely the i7 quad core) 8gbs of ddr3 ram (with an option for 16gbs) Nvidia GTX 295 GPU.... and a track pad built into the keyboard. Oh and the keyboard is full sized with the numeric functions being accessible through the track pad... Oh and both the keyboard and mouse are new forms of wireless technology that enables them to work without batteries... And the mouse takes the shape and texture of the ipod touch.. basically the ipod touch with specific mouse duties.. (You know that would be awesome!) Blu ray would be ideal....... For some reason i like the idea of a 28 inch led as opposed to the desired 30 inch display... (It just seems more realistic to me...) You like'n that mouse idea aren't you? I am overly in love with the idea... Kensington makes mice that sorta mimmic that smooth texture and shape.. Apple could go where no other mouse has gone B4 by adding interface capabilities on the mouse and giving it that iphone/touch slickness....

Dude you almost nailed it. 27" instead of 28" and 2.88 i7 instead of 3.5 i7 (which don't exist), no on the keyboard, but almost on the mouse. Good job for a dream made back in June of this year!

and tallest skills response to that was

"You just don't get it, do you? None of this is even remotely possible for reasons pertaining either to the laws of physics or what Apple doesn't want to do."

Liquid Cooling

Amen to it all (though more than one GPU and USB 3.0 is sadly not going to happen :( )
Wasn't there some rumors about Apple working on a new kind of liquid cooling system some months back, maybe we'll get positively surprised. Think of it, it will be silent and energy saving compared to fans (I think), and it would save space, so there might actually be space for desktop parts, I don't know, but i hope.
Though I'm not completely about just how big an advantage liquid cooling would be compared to air cooling, any ideas?

Don't think Apple will use Liquid cooling after what happened with the Powermac G5 CPU Liquid cooling system leaking. This caused alot of issues and expensive repairs.

Oh regarding USB 3 and FW 3200 its not going to happen Apple will replace all these with Intel Light Peak 10Gbps Fibre optic connections below link shows it running on a prototype Mac Pro:

The 2.8 GHz gets very close with Turbo Boost.

I think a quad core option in the 21.5 inch iMac would be great - if it was possible given heat dissipation issues. I'm not sure what the likelihood is considering Intel's chip roadmap for next year. But as someone who likes the form factor of the 21.5 iMac I'd rather not have to stretch to a whopping great screen on my desk to get top performance levels.

They would have to use a mobile quad-core i5 and probably underclock/undervolt it for that to happen. Would be nice to see the option though. I still say that the 9400m needs to be dropped completely from the lineup. GT120 minimum (or whatever the newest baseline graphics card is - not integrated graphics!)

Yes. I'd like to see HDMI in and out, and the ability to use the unit as a pure HDMI monitor without activating the computer at all.

And Blu-Ray. Even if movie playback is not supported by System 10, er, I mean, OS X, it would be nice to have the built-in drive for the discs so that Windows could use them. I can connect a BD drive via USB, and both OS X and Windows will read the disc, but even Windows is unable to play movie discs decause the USB is an 'unprotected HDCP path'.

Dual Core i5 in Base Config
Quad Core i5 Model in $1699 27" iMac
Blu-Ray option
SSD option
8GB for $100 option

and bring back the 24"
