I dont think that will happen with apple in this case, but I will say Amazons program isn’t really just an “income” based program.. one has to have qualified for some clearly defined FEDERAL or STATE government subsidy and low income programs (that are not only/just income based) and be able to prove that out to amazon in order to get a ~ %40 discount on Prime. For Amason it often ends up being a requirement as well as many ppl on those programs DO use amazon for buying things like food, and necessary health/medical supplies that qualify as valid expenses for some of the government programs for food, “food stamps”, CHIP programs and other state programs like MediCAID and MediCAL, etc.. I don’t think one can just say they only make $15K a year, and get access to the program.
Well, Apple can just ask for proof of Medicaid or EBT eligibility and give a discount like they give students. That's what Amazon does, 82M are on Medicaid and 71M are on EBT/Food Stamps and are all eligible for a discount to Prime. Apple should put their money with their mouth is and give the same discount students get to the less fortunate folks mostly who are POC.

Was only a matter of time before they upped the prices of some of their services, i enjoy some of the shows on Apple TV+ but not enough to stick with it.

Raising prices on all of us without a valid given reason. 😭 The new pricing model should have been for new subscribers only.
Reason is "we're a corporation and you'll take it". Supplementary reasons include "we know you won't be able to leave our ecosystem, so you'll stay".

If they're having trouble "keeping the lights on", then this won't do much for them. This may even further discourage newcomers since they couldn't get in on the "grandfathered rate".

I didn’t think it’s a discounted rate when the competition offers you a thousand more titles for 6.99
Heck from all the streaming we've tried, even at $9.99, I think HBO Max is by far the best. A lot of things we like, and even with ads, it's only one short ad periodically instead of the 3-5 minute blocks on others

I think this is already possible if you add just the songs you want by swiping left on the song and tapping +. But maybe I’m misunderstanding what your goal is. Can you clarify?

In my case, I have two songs from the album pictured but the album itself shows in the Albums list but presents only my two chosen songs until I choose the “Show Complete Album” link and the other songs are shown but are not added to my Library.

What is happening in your case?

Let’s say I want to “favorite” an entire album. Once I do that, all of those songs are added to my Library.

On Spotify, once I “favorite” an album, none of the songs are added to my Library, unless I separately “favorite” those songs.

This becomes an issue for me when I shuffle all my music and then songs from “favorited” albums are also included.

I hope this is clear. I guess it is harder to explain in written word than it is to just show irl.

As far as the bookmarking goes, does Spotify even do this correctly, for example, if there is a Company X podcast that covers tv shows and you want to only favorite or subscribe to the Z show on that Company X podcast, I don't see a way on Spotify you can achieve this, the problem seems to be that all of these companies are trying to be too many things to too many people, it should be easy to dumb down the interfaces and shut off the surrounding noise.

I don’t know of *any* app that can achieve this, to be fair.

Google raised the cost of YouTube Premium so I cancelled YouTubeTV. Sure, take this extra $5 for YouTube. I will just keep my $60 I am giving you for TV. See how that works? I can nickel and dime also. We do not NEED any of this stuff. There are workarounds to guard your $$ during this time. Pick whats important, and let the other stuff die.. I am about to take a chainsaw to my iOS app subscriptions too..

Not unclear. I’ve probably actually encountered this myself. I wondered how I had a random song I hadn’t heard before when I shuffled my music for a bike ride but this is probably why that happened.

They’re gonna raise prices too. Just watch.
Everyone is raising their prices. It happens...

I live on Social Security and a few dollars from my Apple stock. $2 more for Apple One I can tolerate, but my Haagen-Dazs going from $3.49 for 16 oz to $6.99 for 14 oz. is intolerable.
None of those would bother me too much on their own. Problem is EVERYTHING is going up by larger amounts at shorter frequencies

We've already done that to everything. Only have 200GB iCloud left. I did YT Music Family Premium like a week ago for $14.99. Then I saw YT Premium for $17.99 Was like ok only $3 more. Then literally got the message about going to $22.99 days later. Cancelled ASAP

Someone recently subbed to the YouTube Premium Family plan. I asked if they subbed b/c the ads on YouTube seemed to have doubled in recent weeks. For them, that was part of it. They all do use it a lot, not to mention Google Photos, so it was most definitely worth it for them. Unless we're wrong about the "double ads" recently, that would be another way YouTube has gotten more costly.

Had an Apple One plan from the start, but mainly because it seemed cheap enough for all the services, but with the price hike, I looked at it again and realised the only thing I used was iCloud and Apple Music.

The latter has been underwhelming with playing the same music over and over again. Despite the higher quality and and working better on my HomePods, decided to give Spotify my money again with a family plan.

This was the big risk for apple in doing this. I wonder how many like you are rethinking their subscription due to this hike.

So you’ve noticed the ad increase also. SMH. You’d think these companies were struggling to keep the lights on by the way they nickel and dime but it’s really just to try to increase profits quarter after quarter.

They can’t grow indefinitely but they sure try.

Thanks for responding, what happens is that I just give up and stop listening to the podcast, I know these companies are not starving for users but the easier you make it to get to the content you want, the more time one will spend on their respective sites.

Just got my email telling me Apple TV is going up from £4.99 a month to £6.99 a month. So many told me on here, which was totally incorrect, that inflation had absolutely nothing to do with Apple increasing its prices on its products outside the US. And it had everything to do with the price of the pound or Euro VS the dollar, yeah and I guess inflation has absolutely nothing to do with Apple increasing the price of all its services INCLUDING in America, despite turning over a 10 billion dollar increase in profits…..

It’s pure unadulterated greed either way you look at it. I shall be cancelling it when the price goes up and wait for something worth watching to renew it for a month to binge watch.
Apple is trying to get its services on as many devices as possible, needlessly increasing your costs when you do not have anywhere NEAR the content to justify it isn’t the best way to do that.

I read somewhere an interview with a google exec and they said they are going to war with subscribers on You Tube by increasing their ads. I think we can expect Apple to follow, the discussions certainly seem to point to ads being a lot more prominent in its services.

It’s odd; isn’t it. I’m so ingrained in the Apple ecosystem, iPhone, iPad, MacBook, HomePods, Apple Watch, AirPods, Apple Music, Apple TV, iCloud yet these price increases are prompting me to untangle myself from it.

Sure; I appreciate Spotify, Netflix, Google et al, are increasing their pricing but if I’m outside of the ecosystem it makes choice easier.
