“Siri, when was my last flight” just yielded this, so don’t get your hopes too high
Did you see the demo where it uses ChatGPT? In those cases a dialog appears asking if you want to use ChatGPT. That is not part of the other experiences. They were very clear that that was making a clear distinction between their AI and ChatGPT. The text rewriting is not exclusive to ChatGPT. Other LLMs can do that including Apple's Ajax LLM.The whole compose and rewrite feature is ChatGPT.
Apples intelligence? Just more of the same we’re used to. Anything significant will be handed off to ChatGPT.
Apple “Intelligence” my butt. Apple trying to pretend they did the hard, intellectual work when this is just a repackaged ChatGPT program.
I have the same number of feet as Messi. Doesn't make us equally good footballers, sadly.
Are you saying that you've already install the beta with the all new Siri, then? 'cuz otherwise... 😉“Siri, when was my last flight” just yielded this, so don’t get your hopes too high
The default Apple Intelligence is in-house, no?
YesAre you saying that you've already install the beta with the all new Siri, then? 'cuz otherwise... 😉
Apple Intelligence and the updated Siri aren’t part of the current beta, I think.
Apple started trying a lot harder with their Neural Engines... they have improved a lot. It can't be compared with annual running shoe updates.I hear understand that point, but has their processor really changed THAT much in 1-year with the same number of cores? They've been advertising that they have the most-advanced AI chips in the industry for years now, but, Android smartphones released much prior to the iPhone 14 are capable of the same on-device AI features.
I suppose buy counter would be - if Nike releases (2) high performances shoes, one in 2022 and the other in 2023, do you think the resistance would be far apart?
Copilot is a far less insufferable and misleading name.
I’m really thinking it’s a ram thing. Everything that has been confirmed has 8 gigs of ram or more.M1 has more RAM. Also, M1 in Macs can run for much longer at max speed before thermals become an issue.
I otherwise agree with your post, but you're comparing TOPS figures that cannot be compared due to differing levels of accuracy. (8bit vs 16bit)Not really, there is a reason why Microsoft requires all windows copilot+ PCs to have minimum 45 TOPs and 16GB RAM to enable similar features. A17 Pro has 35 TOPS vs A16 17 TOPS, A15 15.8 TOPS. But also equally important is RAM, iPhone 15 Pro has 8GB of RAM, devices below that have just 6GB. They are trying to do as much on device as possible.
… the A16 doesn’t have 8GB of RAM, and the A17 Pro does. The fact that the "Apple Intelligence" features are only available on the iPhone 15 Pro/Max is absolutely unnecessary, and pushing towards e-waste. Is has the same number of "neural cores" as the iPhone 14 Pro/Max ffs!![]()
I tried to research this topic (8bit vs 16bit), but could not find good information. Do you happen to have a source for this?I otherwise agree with your post, but you're comparing TOPS figures that cannot be compared due to differing levels of accuracy. (8bit vs 16bit)

I wonder as well. Many of Siri's failings occur when I ask HomePod mini to run a shortcut or otherwise read out the answer to a question.I wonder what this means for Siri on the HomePod mini.
Apple Intelligence. It's using AI in an Apple-like way: to further bring CON-neck-tivity between you and your device and loved ones, privately, securely, personally.Apple Intelligence is an unusual name for such a feature… I think their marketing ran out of ideas for names or had none on this feature.
What it does is cool, and looks very promising. But that name.. Im not so sure… I mean it’s not even their own AI technology. It’s a little misleading.
I don't think this is true, they would have stated that its being handed off to ChatGPT in those cases. My first thought was that this looks like Grammarly. This isn't new tech, it's possible Apple developed it in-house or it comes from one of the AI startups they've purchased over the years. While it wasn't mind-blowing, examples like these that seemed to come from within the company were hopeful hints that they're taking the catch-up game seriously, same with the Private Cloud powered by Apple Silicon servers.
It was pretty clear nothing from Apple Inteligence is done by chat gpt. The only thing they are using ChatGPT for is when you use Siri and they will tell you if you want to do the search on ChatGPT. It’s not integrated, it’s not doing any of the queries, it’s literally just an external link
By the time iOS releases, Apple will likely have a new generation of phones as well. Plus any supported Macs and iPads. The auto industry works this way as well. Concept cars reveal fatures/specs years ahead of general availability in mid market products, then luxury models, then your average Ford.Well that was a gigantic waste of 30 minutes of my life. Not sure how they can justify gate-keeping their headline feature by only releasing it to ONE of their phones.
Did you watch the presentation? Did you notice the only part about ChatGPT was that bit at the end where they can, optionally, send some requests to OpenAI? The rest was all Apple. ChatGPT is an accessory.
I thought the same as well. It's why I don't use predictive text. It takes longer time and more actions to read through several predicted words and select each one than if I just typed or dictated what I want to say. Some cool use cases, can’t help but notice that for few of them it still feels longer to tell or type what you want it to do than actually doing it yourself.
We’ll see how this works when people start using it.
