Considering M1 and M2 are based on earlier A-series SoCs and I believe uses the same Neural Engines, I have a feeling that even though she mentioned only A17 this will work on A15 and A16 unless it requires at least 8GB of RAM (which would be A17 Pro only).

Once a company sells out, their ideas become the new owners ideas. That’s the way it works.
It’s not selling out. It’s just ChatGPT letting Apple use their technology on their OS. It has zilch to do with any technical or innovative work on Apple’s end. My issue is that they’re lying by omission and pretending they did the inventing.

The name “Apple Intelligence” is so insufferable and blatantly misleading.

Apple “Intelligence” my butt. Apple trying to pretend they did the hard, intellectual work when this is just a repackaged ChatGPT program. It’s the same shenanigans they pulled with Apple Silicon where they tried to pretend their “designs” are the reasons their chips performed well when chip design is insignificant and about as hard intellectually as ordering pizza.

Stop taking credit for other company’s inventions!
Chip design is about as intellectually hard as ordering pizza?

On-screen intelligence is like Recall but I doubt people will attack Apple as much for it
The integration of AI in various OS makes it increasingly complicated for the average consumer to know what and when AI is operating.

Almost everyone (companies) is jumping in with both feet, for FOMO.

I wonder what this means for Siri on the HomePod mini.

I was thinking that re all of my own HomePods. I'm going to take a wild, blue-sky thinking guess and predict that all new HomePods will be required before any improvement is evident!!

Congratulations, Siri! you’re no longer dumb!

We better experience a new Siri in person before we proclaim it. Marketing demo is one thing. Reality is typically something else.

"Hey Siri, congratulations you're no longer dumb"
"Thank you NFL46. While my enhanced neural processes are much improved, I'm not quite grasping what you meant by 'you're no longer dumb'. So my new magical intelligence has moved me to conduct a thorough search of the World Wide Web on your behalf to provide an incredible summary of possibly related information for you're no longer dumb. I'm confident you'll love it!"

;)

It is also getting increasing difficult to know what anyone is doing themselves or with help of AI. Messages, email, images.

There are positives and negatives but we are entering a very blurry time.

Hey, did you just sent me a message or was it your AI assistant?

Fabrication is the hard part and more important to chip performance.

As far as I know they’re the only ones doing it mostly on device without sharing your personal data to subsidize the cost for “free” or for advertising purposes. Once again, with Apple you’re NOT the product.

They deserve a lot of credit for that.
It is NOT their technology or invention. They had zilch to do with its development. Call it MacOS with ChatGPT or something. Calling it Apple Intelligence is misleading.

I feel like this is a step in the right direction, but all the example's they are showing still feels like conversing with a computer in terms of flow vs. natural like you would an assistant.

Also, the most important question, are Google and Microsoft going to open their Apps to Apple Intelligence, or are they going to try to shoehorn in their own AI? People that use native apps for MS365 and/or Google Workspace make up a lot of iPhone users.

What a horrible review. You basically just rewrote their press release. I say this as an Apple employee. It’s awful. Most employees think it’s awful. Apple will NEVER do AI right given our emphasis on family friendly and privacy. The actual product is way worse than this. It’s Siri 2.0.
This is not a review, this is the announcement of the press release
