Just consider this, Iphone still needs me to pro-actively activate it to do things.

My Android phone has been doing menial things for me automatically for eons now. It turns ringer to silent for me based on occasions like meeting/location/time periods. When picking up my daughter the phone texts her automatically when I am about 10 minutes from pickup point. Or it automatically sends congratulate/birthday message to people in my contacts. Or starts call recording when certain people call. And many other use cases.

So what good will AR do? At least it gives me a laugh with poopmoji.

It's interesting, because many people who bash Android, have never experienced Android on a proper device with excellent hardware. The problem is that with so many OEMs running Android on low end devices, the experience is totally different, than say if they handled Android on a Nexus device.

You find much more issues with low end devices, because the specs are just not up to standard, and those issues are brought to the front as Android being ****

The way I see it, is that like with 3D, AR will struggle early on and just fade away. It's mostly going to be aimed at the kids, and some adults who might find some use for it

I'll have to try to remind myself that wireless charging my old Nexus5 4 years ago was not useful.
Not useful for me. I lay in bed, using phone while charging with cord. No room on night stand for charging pad, and back gets sore hunching over phone while on pad to use it. Sorry not overly impressed with wireless pad charging.

Will wait for all of you leaving to cry and come back when AR becomes more and more hot and Apple has the best device for it. :)
I think not. I left Apple after the 6s was announced and still have no plans to cone back. It is not by accident that there are more Android phones than iPhones. My Samsung S7 Edge still works beautifully 1 year and a half later.

As to AR - I am not interested.

So with all the hype, you can't get it now? Lol
Exactly...it’s all about the wait. The desire building, like a drug withdrawal. Needing wanting, craving, when it finally arrives we will be so happy, won’t care about anything else.......my new precious is here!

Kind of similar to the insatiable need of Android users to tell us how great there precious is. So much better, smarter wiser, more useful, more spec’d out. Dang, almost talked myself into get and Android. Slaps self in face.......

In the office, we were updating our users to iOS 11.. Nearly a 2gig file, and I had to ask my colleague what exactly changed, as I couldn't quite figure it out. Apart from a few things to toggle brightness, volume bar thing which changed, we weren't quite impressed by iOS 11.

I didn't mess around with it much, but I'll have to go and research all the iOS 11 changes, as that update was quite a huge update.

Damn wtf

I bailed on Apple - after iPhone 4S - when they refused to make a larger phone because "nobody" wanted that (and other companies had been making larger phones for 2-3 years).
Came back for the 6 plus and 6S plus. Bailed on them this time because of what I see as regurgitation of the same phones and "holding off" on features other manufacturers have had for years - just to sell phones and keep fan boys happy. Tired of it.

Funny, I was considering bailing on the iPhone for my main phone for the opposite reason, because they went larger. I hated the 6 coming from a 4S. The 6S was a nice enough improvement to keep me from leaving, but I just switched to an SE and love it so far.

I do like Android (have several Android devices that I use occasionally), and I wish iOS had the level of automation that is possible (though Workflow app under Apple's ownership is providing at least a hint of that). A smaller Android high-end phone that is usable one-handed has the potential to entice me away, but for now I'm using the SE and hoping for either an SE hardware update or a smaller version of the iPhone X.

I agree with you, watching the keynote they talked about how the original iPhone was ahead of it's time and brought to the table what smartphones will be for the next 10 years. Which is 100% agree, it was world changing and had everyone else struggling to play catch up. When Tim Cook promised this is the next generation product that will show the industry what the next 10 years will be, I laughed. This is the same thing as your ordinary revamped iPhone but with an edge to edge display. Everything else (like what's in the 8) is what people expect from a normal yearly upgrade.

A ton of complaining going on. Most people are paying for the phones monthly so who cares how much it costs? It's fifty bucks a month on the upgrade program.
You can't be serious. Just because they pay monthly they shouldn't care what it costs? It's this thought process that causes massive debt. FYI, just because you pay for it monthly, doesn't change that you still pay the same amount in the end. And the more things you pay monthly for, the more they add up.

That's fair enough. But if you find it useful, there is nothing Apple has done that makes it more useful that it already Was.

Waiting on somebody to create a proper wireless solution, where you just walk in, and phone charges. No docking on a wireless pad

Costs more, that’s not useful.

I stick with cords. RF and magnetic energy drops of square of the distance so to get any significant charge the source has to be glowing in RF or magnetic radiation Don’t need my body subjected to even more long term radiation than already is, just so I won’t need to plug in. I pass

You don't understand how the Apple community think. They think in significantly broken down algorithyms.

Step 1: if it is IOS, it is stable.

Step 2: Because IOS is stable, it is a good thing.

Step 3: We do no want things which will make IOS useful because it will ruin the good thing about stability.

That's how it goes around here.

No one had stopped to consider that you can still take the stability of IOS and improve on it. Look how they have improved the software on the ipad. But the iphone keeos missing out.

I'm not going to be dramatic about this, but Apple is dead to me.

Okay, they were not sophisticated enough to imbed a touch id button under the screen so instead they go with Face ID. That's fine. But don't take us for fools by using Face ID as one of the X's big ticket items. I feel robbed. We already had a security measure in place, so what do they do, use an alternative security measure as a big new thing to come to iphone because they have hardly anything else to talk about, they have run out of ideas, there is nothing new with the X

Wireless charging. Yea great. Now iphone is only 2 years behind every other phone.

Oled display. Seriously is Apple that bereft of ideas that they have to talk about what every other ****ing smartphone in 2017 has?

Better camera and more powerful chip. This is what you can expect to be the big feature next year because they will have nothing new for next year so expect a better camera and a more powerful chip next year too.

This was supposed to be the biggy. This year Apple was supposed to come out of its post Steve Jobs shell and deliver. **** them, all they did was another incremental upgrade, and I'm talkking about the iphone x.

Where's the big softeare features? Still the same boring as ******* grid of apps, no ability to customise, not even split screen multitasking, it's 2017 for crying out loud. - "the most advanced mobile phone operating system" - yea right, pig's farking ass it is.

Time to start looking at the Note 8 because Apple is dead to me after this keynote.

I am not able to find why you have posted this here ....if you are not happy with apple.... it's not the criticism only about apple there are lots of superiority over others. Anyway just thought u might be finding the solution to any of your prob.

Ok, but then why post this:

Seems like overly dramatic to me.

And all of the leaks basically described what the phone was going to be to a "T" so this shouldn't have surprised or disappointed you.

Actually Samsung phones are excellent, and all of the features of the X have been on the **** Samsung phone for years.
Along with the added bonus of lag and extremely slow updates.

The magic of Apple products died with Steve Jobs. Everyone just needs to admit and accept that. The company is nothing like it used to be. There’s no greatness or magic in these products any longer and there won’t be again. They are finished as far as I’m concerned. Lenovo makes the best laptops in the world, windows 10 is just as good if not better than OSX now, google just bought HTC and soon we will have some real innovative products coming from them. I’m already scouting iTunes replacements so I can download movies in a legal way to watch on my flights. I am done with Apple products, this iteration of the iPhone just sealed it for me. I used an iBook in college, went through all the iPods, MacBook pros, and apples products have only become worse in my opinion. Just ask yourself, would Steve have approved these products?

ofcourse, Jobs would be damn proud if he saw The Notch for the very first time on the iPhone X. Its' desgin 2.0
Heck, if he would see the all new Animoji's on a $1000 device, he would be probally thinking...'yeah, I am done now, this is what Apple is all about''

Jobs would be super proud, to see that people are paying Apple $1000 for Animojis and a device that looks similar to Samsung and other Android devices.
