I'm not going to be dramatic about this, but Apple is dead to me.

Okay, they were not sophisticated enough to imbed a touch id button under the screen so instead they go with Face ID. That's fine. But don't take us for fools by using Face ID as one of the X's big ticket items. I feel robbed. We already had a security measure in place, so what do they do, use an alternative security measure as a big new thing to come to iphone because they have hardly anything else to talk about, they have run out of ideas, there is nothing new with the X

Wireless charging. Yea great. Now iphone is only 2 years behind every other phone.

Oled display. Seriously is Apple that bereft of ideas that they have to talk about what every other ****ing smartphone in 2017 has?

Better camera and more powerful chip. This is what you can expect to be the big feature next year because they will have nothing new for next year so expect a better camera and a more powerful chip next year too.

This was supposed to be the biggy. This year Apple was supposed to come out of its post Steve Jobs shell and deliver. **** them, all they did was another incremental upgrade, and I'm talkking about the iphone x.

Where's the big softeare features? Still the same boring as ******* grid of apps, no ability to customise, not even split screen multitasking, it's 2017 for crying out loud. - "the most advanced mobile phone operating system" - yea right, pig's farking ass it is.

Time to start looking at the Note 8 because Apple is dead to me after this keynote.
So why not just get the 8 or the 8 plus?

Excuses? I excuse nothing. Not the millionaires with stage fright, that's what i saw. Nervous presenters stumbling lines, not at all comfortable. How is that excuses.

And I also don't excuse the moronic half baked comments being made with no facts, lot's of conjecture, and out and out mis-information. Like the phone, don't like the phone makes no matter to me. Same nonsense each year, some I realize are just click baters. But too many people that own the iPhones don't even have a clue how they work, yet come on hear disparaging things that are simply untrue.

The notch is not present when videos, movies, tv, is played. Unless you zoom in.

Face data, just like finger print data never leaves your phone. It's locked in chip enclave, unaccessable. Actually heard radio host amazed that Apple is collecting face data. And avast that you can buy something with phone by looking at it. The amount of stupid out there is getting worse.

Rumors are just that and blaming Apple for not fulfilling a rumor is plain nuts.

Saying anything about screen before side by side comparisons are made is plain silly. You can't tell what screen looks like by view from your iPad, tv, computer. You have to see it live.

Touch ID was disparaged just like face ID is. Maybe we should wait and see how it works day to day real world before any conclusions are voiced. Bet you dollars to donuts, software tweaks and yearly hardware updates will improve whatever it currently does. Just like Touch ID was improved. Nothing stands still.

Apple is not doomed, going bankrupt, failing, or any other such nonsense. Buy the iPhone X, don't buy it. Hate to break it to you but nobody on here cares what you do.

The info is out there to look up, screen size, stats, phone size, weight, etc. look it up, no need to ask here. Contrary to popular belief, forum members are not your personal look up tool because you are lazy.

Damn, that felt good.

What kind of rambling nonsense was this? Stage fright? Seriously? Are you really that naive?

I am beginning to realize Apple products are a status thing to many people. Like aspiring to own a Rolex watch. When you find out Apple like a Rolex is just another company that wants your money, it is a bit of a let down.

Yeah what a terrible product, it's only made of surgical grade steel and it only RECOGNIZES YOUR FACE and unlocks for you, you don't even have to touch it, it freaking LOOKS AT YOU and unlocks if you and only you are using it. What a piece of junk, the Palm Pilot had that feature back in 2001.
Technically you still need to swipe to unlock

And soon it will be so big, it won't have to go anywhere, cuz it will be everywhere.

I dont see it is growing at all. Apple brings nothing new to the table. History repeats itself, Apple will collapse like it did without steve jobs, but this time there is no steve jobs come back to make a heroic run.

I blame the public. They are so blinded by the Apple brand, accepting anything they produce not matter how bland, no matter how late to the party, no matter how much it costs... they will be the reason for history repeating itself.

Steve Jobs was too great that his impact and strategy lasted for years and Apple has too much money to make the existing strategy works for awhile. But as a retail tech company without bringing anything new and excitment to customers, Apple will collapse for sure, Apple management is not brave at all to do anything new at all. Making the phone bigger is like the only big move that is not what Jobs liked. Making the phone bigger is already the biggest move so far, lol

I'm not inclined to pass any commentary on Apple's future until next month's/November's event.

But everything on the X is unoriginal. what Apple is promoting as the X's key features other smartphones already have, yet Apple makes it seem like these features are new and in genius.
Apologies OP for cutting up your post to quote parts, but I couldn't agree more. To the non techie masses out there which are the majority of iPhone users they are pretty much clueless as to what other phones have done feature wise because they are married to Apple and that's all they know. they are fine and content in their ignorance and will line up to get the latest and greatest from their favorite company.
That still doesn't explain why so many techie geek types are drooling all over this new "X" phone tho. I wouldn't get it even if I needed a new phone. Nice looking but not enough value for the cost outlay imo.
Totally agree with your "no drama" opening post at the start of this thread.

The more it costs the more status it provides. The bigger question is why people have this need to feel superior. Hmmm, Maybe we should ask the prez.

Apple with this event insulted all of its users making it sound like they revolutionized the smart phone industry, the fact of the matter is that they used the same stuff Samsung has been doing for years. OLED, the FaceID aka Iris scanner because other than the gimmick that it scans your face you still need your eyes to be open for it unlock, so its literally no different than the IRIS scanner, then the next thing the edge to edge bezel, then to make sure they didn't make it too obvious they made the top bar for the camera cut in your screen, so when watching YouTube videos when on full screen part of your screen will cut out the picture unless you watch it crop mode.

I am always on the go, so when I am on break or lunch I want to be able to enjoy my YouTube/Twitch experience and the X is not gonna do that for me. Overall This was a very insulting event, especially when they said 64GB $999 no 128GB model, that is a slap to the face to the Apple fans that have been loyal to them for many years.

As I mentioned to the other thread, Tim Cook is not innovative, he is riding Steve Jobs coattails, they will keep doing it until they literally get left in the dust by Samsung. I am not ready to switch to Android yet, but as the years go and I see how much nicer the Samsung screens look it makes it very tempting to give it a try.

In my household we all have iPhone 7+, I upgrade every year the other two upgrade every two year, I've spent thousands and thousands on apple products and that means $$$$ on the iTunes store before subscription was available. All that money goes towards to open new apple stores instead of investing in their future...
They basically give us something good once every 4 years now. They teased us with the iPad ProMotion this year with the new iPad release, then we gonna get it next year on the next iPhone and call it a breakthrough technology, if they wanted it they could have added that feature on the new iPhone 8 and X no problem, they have enough horsepower.

Samsung is in the background laughing and seeing Apple flopping every year, Samsung is doing the right stuff for their folks, after the fiasco with the Note 7 they rebounded big time and they truly care about their users and community and they even gave out big discounts to upgrade to the latest Note 8, this is something we will never see from Apple because of the greed this company has become.

Without Apple the smartphones would not be what they would be today, but without Jobs Apple hasn't been the leader in innovating things, Samsung has and they have been copied by Apple after 2-3 years to avoid law suits. It use to be the other way around when Apple use to sue every company for trying to copy their features, now its Apple doing it, Samsung won't bother because they know they are offering a better value product.

If you ask him he will tell you truthfully, it's not just a feeling. He knows he is superior.

NOT JUST A FEELING

How is it Stockholm syndrome?

If i was only a phone user sure I could buy a Samsung. But as a mac, tablet and smart watch user there is no better Eco system to join.

You're case is different. You must have lot of stuff from apple that it would cost a lot to switch up from one company to another. I do to have lot of apple stuff: mac Pro, ipad pros, apple watches, and macbook pros. However, no matter how bad the designs are, whether it's phone design or ios/osx, people will accept that and move on with it. That's fine. For me, I love tech, but I love tech from artistic perspective. It hasn't been apple that I once knew...of course we do move on. Nothing wrong if people love x or 8/plus...it's all fine. The way Apple has been acting lately...it pushes me slowly. There are times when changes is gonna happen....people will slowly find another products to replace what they have.

I am starting to realise that I'm not a techie, even though I like technology I am just not a gadget guy. I just don't get this emotionally involved. I don't care about customisation.

The most important thing for me about anything I buy is that it works. The older I get (I am 29) the less I care about gadgets. As long as it works I say.

This is becoming a problem in all types of tech. People are bored, boredom is taking over to the point that they create this huge idea of what the next thing will be then get devastated when it does not eventuate. It happens in cameras, phones, computers, televisions.

In fact I don't even watch tv anymore. Haven't turned my tv on in months (unless to watch a movie) couldn't care less about television.

I have an iPhone 5 that I got when it was new, have never even turned siri on.

What I am really hyped about is house automation, however that has nothing to do with me liking the tech, it is all to do with the fact that I would love it if my house just did lots of crap for me so I don't have to. So its more of a laziness thing.

The point is though there is no other company to change to. Maybe windows but to be honest it was them that pushed me to apple and using windows at work does not give me any desire to revert back.

People talk about things that galaxy phones can do and many of them just seem pointless, split screen multi tasking was mentioned in the OP. I don't even find it useful on my 10.5" iPad on a phone it just seems daft.
I can see the S8 is an impressive device but it has no features that have me contemplating a switch from iOS to android.

What do you mean the way apple have been acting? Without specifics it just seems like a throwaway line.

There are ways to integrate android stuff with mac computers.

I will probably look at getting the iPhone 8 over the X, mostly because I have found that I really don't like smartphones with giant screens in my pockets. I have just never been a fan of the size of the Plus models.
