I have both the galaxy s8 and the iphone7 and people are not going to like face ID imo, the touch Id on the 7 works so well everything else sucks ...

I'm not going to be dramatic about this, but Apple is dead to me.

I've never seen a more self-ironic statement than this one. It literally made me laugh out loud.

Me, on the other hand, I cannot wait to get my iPhone X. The only thing it didn't have that I was hoping they'd sneak in there was the ProMotion ... but I imagine battery considerations kept it out (for now). Hopefully we'll get it with next year's model.

I agree with this because my S7 edge was rock solid and stable and so is my S8+. Samsung has also been great about keeping the software updated. Every month or two an update has been dropping that seems to only improve the phone. I sure hope the Apple executives don't have their head in the sand when it comes to Samsung because they are one heck of a competitor. Android 7 and the Samsung Experience UX isn't the old buggy Touchwiz from 4-5 years ago. It's pretty darn slick and stable.

There is no doubt that the A11 chip will outperform the Snapdragon 835, but it's not like the 835 is slow or underpowered. It's still a beast and it's a battery sipper as well. The S8 has extremely good battery life.

I like Apple products and enjoy my iPad Air 2 and my iMac, but if anyone here believes that Samsung is building **** flagship phones right now they have no experience at all with them. The S8, S8+, and Note 8 are gorgeous and well built. The software is excellent as well. It's a different experience then iOS. In some ways better and some ways worse. The Samsungs are filled with neat little features like always on display, multiple ways to unlock, S pen in the Note, larger screen options, no notch, etc. They are a solid product.

I agree that raw specs can become misleading after awhile. If you're comparing 2 cars with top speeds of 180mph and 210mph does it really matter when speed limit is 65mph? Again, how much horse power do you need in a smartphone b4 you can't even recognize a benefit from having it?

Well android phone including samsung flagships dont have system update around a year, but iphone has like 4 years update.

Sure where the competition is throw away phones and expensive Samsung mobile phones dont sell either. Apples competition is not the throw away market, in spite of what you may erroneously believe.

I think S8/S8+ are selling at a record (20mil in 3months even better than s7). Yes, apple sells in the "premium" market so justifying the high price and high profit margin (for similar or even lower-spec-ed hardware).

Now the question is how long can this "premium" segment last? People are not stupid. They look at top-range phones (with much more to offer) from Huawei/Samsung/Oneplus/LG selling at 1/2 or 1/3 the price of IPX and they will seriously ask questions whether Iphone is worthwhile.

In the US due to carriers tie-in which masked the actual price, Apple will still do its business. But in many parts of the world they (Huawei/Samsung/Oneplus/LG), once viewed as second rate compared Apple but now being seen as viable and similar premium alternatives to apple.

Furthermore, IPX at $1000+ maybe too much for consumers in China/Asia when alternatives like S8/Huawei P or Mate/One+/Xiaomi can be bought for price that is half or lesser. So consumers in these countries will most probably look at IP8. Main problem is IP8 looks like a phone that came out 4 years ago.

In what way? I am all for Google coming out with a true iMessage competitor because that is one thing I still stick with Apple for, but I just don't see it coming anytime soon. They have had years to make a iMessage competitor and instead they've made countless different messaging platforms and killed off others. On top of that, messaging platforms are hard to become popular because if no one you know uses it, then it will never take off.

You are talking like it is a big deal with IMessage. Do you know the rest of the world (other than US), nobody uses IMessage. It is as good as dead. Apple/Google are too late to the game.

Actually the hardware specs of iphones are better than the competition. It all depends on how narrowly one is looking at the hardware. But to the real point, in what markets is the s8 having a good run while apple is flailing? Is it China or India? Or maybe the United States where apple is the dominant smart phone supplier.

As far as what people prefer, you cannot possibly know that. And why would anyone pay $950 for an S8 and not consider the Iphone X. Some false reasoning there, except if the person prefers Samsung phones. As far as many parts of the world, Samsung is selling the $50 models of it's phones, not the $950 model. And your reasoning is faulty if you think the iphone x at $1,000 is expensive, but the s8 at $950 is not.

And in spite of your opinion of the iphone 8, my guess it will sell like hotcakes.

Much of South Asia and Africa uses Whats App for texting and the free international calls that are included. Chinese use WeChat. So the importance of imessages is not there now. Google hangouts also is used by many people, again, it is platform independent.

Th S8 is half the price. The iPhone X price is absurd. If it wasn’t for the iPad, I would be out.

Also Samsung’s Note 8 is selling like hot cakes in China and India.

I couldn’t care less what Asians or Europeans are using, I live in the US and that’s what I base my purchasing decisions on.

Um.. No. 6gb of RAM, dual camera, etc. Didn't Apple just recently get away from 1gb of RAM?

Meanwhile Apple’s Cpu’s are light years ahead of Qualcomm and Samsung’s nonsense. 6GB of ram? Not even used, although maybe touchwiz needs that much to be functional.

Honestly most of the apple fanboys in this forum would not care other phone brands, they just love Apple without objective thinking.
[doublepost=1505453061][/doublepost]
But Apple invented OLED and wireless charging.

As you can see this is how Apple fanboy thinks, it is like Apple is God and apple fanboy just ignore anything else in the world especially having a samung logo on it.

Got some internet facts to back that up? Vs all models of iPhone? The s8 isn’t even in the same class as the iPhone x, as it’s a mid-tier phone now.
http://www.ibtimes.com/samsung-launches-note-8-china-despite-weak-sales-country-2589879

What you posted aren’t the Note 8 sales. It’s a general statement that Samsung sales declined after the Note 7 disaster. Note 8 sales figures haven’t been made public yet by according to Samsung but they did say Note 8 is breaking records in China

Note 8 is also confirmed to be breaking all kinds of records in India

https://www.goandroid.co.in/samsung-galaxy-note-8-record-pre-orders-in-most-of-the-countries/70140/

http://www.gsmarena.com/record_preorders_for_galaxy_note8-news-27199.php

The iPhone X is DOA in India because it’s price is INR 89000 ($1388) while Note 8 costs INR 67000 ($1045).

The iPhone X is DOA in China because 8388 yuan($1283) there while Note 8 costs 6988 yuan ($1067)

Let’s be real, the phone is dead on arrival anywhere in Asia. Apple’s gone crazy with the pricing worldwide. The Note 8 is cheaper has a bigger screen, supports S Pen and likely has a better display.

The only reason I may be getting the X is because it’s compatible with iPad and Watch which likely aren’t all that popular in Asia. Remove the iPad and Watch from the equation and hold the iPhone on its own merit and only a moron would buy the iPhone X over the Note 8.

Not really, samsung has hard time in china, not even in top 5 selling phone brands now, you can check the news. People in china just dont want to burn their homes you know.

Did they pay you to say this?

Nope, just go check out benchmarks and then come back. Snapdragon 835 and newest Exynos both suck in single threaded and are even beaten in multi-threaded now. All while the A11 has 2 less cores. The 8-core design was garbage when it first came out and it's still garbage now.

At least my comments and actions are consistent (though I don’t feel that pointing out that I can’t wait for the new phone is ‘over the top excitement’, that’s a subjective stance we can disagree on). Unlike the original post I quoted that was blatantly self-contradictory, mine was not. It was a simple expression of anticipation. I don’t think it’s defensible or even sensible to admonish someone’s enthusiasm over getting a significant upgrade to something they use every hour of every day; it’s meaningless to do so and serves only to tarnish the cynic.

People can laugh at someine’s eagerness and joy all they want; it doesn’t change the fact that come the 3rd of November I’ll have a new state of the art device that I’ll be quite happy with while they will still be sitting around grousing.

Is it too much to ask for the iphone to deliver something original and new? Iphone 4s was the last time that happened. And piece of **** Samsung??? Go check out the reviews of the Note 8, its capabilities leave the X looking like a dinosaur.
My question would be.
If the Note leaves the ten looking like a dinosaur, then why is the ten even remotely in the running? Why are you talking about it. You just go buy a Note. You get what you actually want and do not spend your own time creating a post about Apple this or that. You would Cleary make the right decision for yourself and unlike others, you reached that decision on your own. Go get you that Note and actually spend your personal time enjoying what you are spending your money on.

In what way specs are better? Even on the IPX, apple skims on cost and put the same front cam 7MP f/2.2 lens. S8/N8 already have better 8MP f/1.7 (think N8 has OIS as well). For fast charging to work on IPX/8 you have to buy those big bulky charger whereas S8/N8 comes with a sleek/petite charger at no extra cost. Plus the IPX OLED screen in inferior to S8 as well as water resistant rating.

As far as what people prefer, you cannot possibly know that. And why would anyone pay $950 for an S8 and not consider the Iphone X. Some false reasoning there, except if the person prefers Samsung phones. As far as many parts of the world, Samsung is selling the $50 models of it's phones, not the $950 model. s8 launch price was around $800. At that price usually you get freebies (wireless charger/DEX/SDcard) bundled. Now the price is around $600. s8 would be the most matching competitor to IPX as it has about the same size and equivalent specs.

So the base IPX will cost $1100 if get the fast charger which is nearly double S8.

Have I got this right, the 8 Plus' screen is actually wider than the X's screen? Christ almighty, Apple really has lost the plot. They're now creating phones where some features on phone A are better than the features on phone B and where some features on phone B are better than the features on phone A. Farking hell. I don't need to have 10 certificates in marketing and engineering, and I don't need to have been an Apple executive before, to know that Apple is a ****ing shambles. What are they doing, why have they created this divide? I can accept having two phones where one is either equal to or clearly superior to the other, but when you have two phones in the same year and both have their pros and cons, it's a joke.

IMO the X is a big risk and the 8 and 8 Plus are the safer bets. At least with the 8 or 8 Plus, you know what you're getting, it's a beefed up 7 with a few party tricks. But with the X, you have the hideous cut out at the top, and if what I understand to be the case is true, it has a narrower, albeit longer, screen than the 8 Plus. But the longer screen is counteracted by the cut out at the top. I won't even go into price of the X, just disgusting. And if you want the benefit of fast charging, you gotta buy the accessory, another $70 to set you back. As for the oled screen, 600 nits less than the Note 8. What's the point, honestly?

I have been saying for a long time now that Apple has lost the plot. And I was so hoping that this was the year, more than any other year since Jobs died, that they would prove me wrong. Beliieve me I wanted nothing more than for Apple to prove me wrong. But they're not proving me wrong, they're proving me right, and like I said a few posts above, the very thing that Apple is being stubborn about is the very thing which has enabled Samsung to start gaining an ascendency in the smartphone market.
