WWDC is coming up soon... well depends on your needs :) If you need it now, keep it I think. Otherwise if you can hold off, waiting for WWDC may be a good option. If it still doesn't appear then, I think just grab whatever's available.

Before the UA Gear post, I didn't actually give this thread much credibility (I didn't have much faith in the other one as well, where the OP vanished). Now, I do.

Yeah, guess I can delay my study a few weeks while I wait...

I've literally just purchased a iPad Pro 12.9 for studying, not sure whether to return as in 14 day window still.

It's up to you if you need it now keep it, personally I don't believe we will see iPads at WWDC but I could be wrong, iPads are usually announced In September along with other devices such as the the iPhone, WWDC is very much software based.

A lot of case makers guess it's not official and besides the image could be fake. Granted there is a strong possibility that Apple are working on a 10.5" iPad but that doesn't mean it will ship or be announced in June, case makers sometimes pre announce cases and even produce them early, so I would still take this with a grain of salt.

Guys,

As the iPhone is the leading product in terms of design, there are exactly 2 possibilitys:

1. apple gives an under the hood update on the pros on WWDC, because they won't unveil a new (bezel less) design until the iphone got its update

2. the pro gets an update at the end of year, just like every other product with a 2 years cycle.

But I actually don't believe in an 10.5" iPad this year. Maybe in march, like the release of the 9,7" pro last year

I see your point here, but I don't think it would necessarily hurt Apple at all. If someone sees a new bezel-less design on an iPad, does that mean they don't buy a bezel-less iPhone? I think Apple maybe needs to put the iPad front and center on a bold redesign if it wants to get that category back on track. I think WWDC is a good time to do this, mainly because it used to be an OS X focused event, Apple needs to push this same mentality onto the iPad. It's all wishful thinking though as Apple could likely come out with a bezel-less design for both at the same time. I just think they are better off separating the two.

iPad Release Dates

iPad 1 - January 27, 2010
iPad 2 - March 2, 2011
iPad 3 - March 7, 2012
iPad 4 - October 23, 2012
iPad Mini - October 23, 2012
iPad Air - October 22, 2013
iPad Mini 2 - November 12, 2013
iPad Air 2 - October 16, 2014
iPad Mini 3 - October 16, 2014
iPad Pro 12.9” - September 9, 2015
iPad Mini 4 - September 9, 2015
iPad Pro 9.7” - March 21, 2016
2017 iPad - March 21, 2017

Again, there is no predictable cadence to iPad launches. A WWDC launch is not historically likely, but to claim that "iPads are usually announced in September" is also incorrect. Apple will launch the next iPad whenever it feels appropriate.

I think updating a product, making it thinner or faster, or offering a new color are not grounds to keep the product shrouded in secrecy. I think if Apple would update us as to what is coming out, it would alleviate some of the disappointment many experience.

Does being a fan of Apple mean I have to accept a life of speculation?

I agree, but I'd be pissed if they did update them though
If you would be p'ed off if they did update them then you only have one option... return it.

I think if people would simply be reasonable and use the same rationale they use for any other purchase it would alleviate a lot of the anxiety they feel about making a purchase of Apple products.

Microsoft used to be accused (and rightfully so) in engaging in FUD = Fear, Uncertainty, and Doubt... but it is Apple (and more accurately) Apple customers who engage in that.

No. Being an independent, living person means you have to accept a life of uncertainty. :p

Usually doesn't mean every time, but my point isn't just about the time of year it's also about logic from Apple's point of view, release a iPad 10.5" bezelless and rumoured fingerprint under the display (one of the less likely rumours) before the iPhone 8 which is also going to have that same thing? Apple wouldn't want to upstage their most profitable product. WWDC is highly unlikely to feature an iPad, that doesn't mean it's 100% out of the question because only Apple know that for sure, but people seem to be getting their hopes up that it will happen.

Well personally I have no particular hopes ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ - if you're still having hopes since the iPad Pro 9.7" last year and what is essentially just a lower cost 2017 iPad - you're definitely a die-hard can't-wait-for-it iPad fan.

I think Apple learned their lesson with the iPad mini 3, which is easily the most disappointing iPad release in Apple's history (even more than the 2017, which at least boasts impressive battery life as a good plus point). My take is that they're going to take their time to do things. On the flip side, it really has been quite some time (12+ months since 9.7" pro), so I wouldn't completely rule out that it's coming.

However, I wouldn't bet on it. But this thread is better than the last one, that's my main point - the OP is still around, which is impressive - I originally thought it was just another troll thread.

If Apple releases an Ipad Pro 2 at WWDC I am in . Going to buy it as soon as possible. If not, I will buy the 9.7 Ipad Pro

The iPad Pro series are long overdue...

No one credible has suggested the 10.5" iPad Pro will have Touch ID under the display. It's expected to have a thin bezel, that's all. Let's not make it anything more than it is.

I don't see how a thin bezel will upstage an iPhone X with OLED, 3D facial recognition, and A11.

I was referring more to the endless rumors and speculation regarding what Apple is going to do next, followed by the frustration and disappointment when the next big thing that was hyped with rumors is not what people were expecting.

How many dedicated sites are there related to rumors and leaks just for Apple products? It's an industry unto itself. My point is people are getting all worked up over nothing. Ya Apple has come out with some cool stuff in recent times but not that cool that it requires a shroud of secrecy. Not anymore.

As far as life and uncertainty, I go about my business and buy what is currently available. Just picked up a new Mini, which in reality is an outdated computer. I was not caught up with all the hype about a new Mini. I bought what I needed just like an "independent living person" would.

I think a 10.5 inch Pro unveiling makes perfect since in June, bewtween the leaks recently and also I just realized something else. A iPad Pro 10.5 inch in June would have the A10X processor, no doubt a beastly chip but I wouldn't be surprised to see a 12.9 inch Pro refresh in the fall with the A11X chip. Apple does the same thing with the MacBook Pro lineup the flagship 15inch has the flagship specs. I expect a June iPad Pro in one way or another but I wouldn't be holding my breath for a new 12.9 inch refresh that device is more likely going to debut in Fall.

What if.. iPad Pro is updated... and we get Xcode... and Final Cut Pro for the iPad? Maybe Logic?

That might be a game changer - and Kinda DEVELOPER related?

Maybe not likely - but highly plausible.

Why? The iPad Pro is still a beast and maybe Apple have shifted to 2 years for the iPad Pro 12.9" because of that reason and knowing most people probably won't upgrade every year.

Because apple updates most of their products either annually or at least every 18 month?
And people want new features, or maybe just new iPads?

I'm impatient for a revision of the iPad Pro 12.9 but I also would find it hard to stomach them putting the a10x in it with the a11 already in production.

Exactly. It's not going to be Oled yet either.

Basically as far as the physical size, it's a current 9.7 IPad rear casing and dimensions, just with a smaller top, bottom and side bezels on the front, which means 0.8" more screen size, and likely still a physical home button.

Ugh...I've got about a week left in my return policy for a 9.7". I'd did get a descent discount on the iPad itself as well as the Smart Keyboard and case.

But the uneven color temp from left to right in portrait mode kinda bugs me. And going from an A9X to an A10X would be great.

But despite the color temp issues I'm starting to lean on the device more and more. If a new model released in a month, great, but longer and I'd start to miss it, haha!

Anyone else thinking about returning a newly bought pro?

I'm in 2 minds to be honest, probably return my 12.9 and see what happens in June. If not I'll have to purchase again as I can't postpone my studies until September/October...
