I would consider that, but may not be able to get the same deal then. I got the current 128GB Pro 9.7" with Apple Care, the Smart Keyboard

Also, although the uneven temp problem exists on this Pro as well, it's BY FAR the least troublesome of the 4 Pro's I've had and the display model I saw.

Still, if in a month or two a new model comes out with the A10X, better this, better that...it's going to sting. :(

Although if I were to be completely honest with myself, I'm actually quite happy with this device and don't really have any complaints other than the color temp issue. The keyboard's been great to use in a quick situation and even very comfortable on my lap. It's even got a 3 year warranty now, lol! The speakers are great, the screen has no backlight bleed or dead/stuck pixels. And in general it feels snappier than the previous Pro's.

I think I just wanted to vent a little, but overall will probably just keep the device. Of course, it would mean keeping a bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon around to drown my sorrows when the 10.5" comes out. Hopefully it'll have some silly flaw I can focus on to ease my envy...like a lack of headphone port. :D

Good luck with whatever you decide!

Tru-tone on a 12.9 would be the sting for me as I use this thing for study texts

I personally don't care about new iPads, Pro or not, until iOS receives a massive overhaul that adds pro-grade features. The hardware is top notch right now, it's the software that's severely lacking.

As it stands, iOS is what's holding the iPad back in a major way, preventing it from becoming a genuine laptop replacement for a greater number of professionals.

They could change with IOS 11 Apple is said to be working on more Pro features.

MacOS (or a slimmed down version) on an iPad Pro would be an instant buy for me. Will never happen though.

I have heard no rumors of iOS 11 being anything more than iOS 10 + animated emojis. I would love to see an iPad-centric iOS 11, but wishing it doesn't make it so.

IMO (and one expressed by quite a few people) the greatest impediment toward increasing usage of the iPad Pro in my daily use-cases is iOS, NOT the hardware.

If Apple were to bump up the processor and add True-Tone to the 12.9 iPad Pro that would do absolutely nothing in improving my usage experience. But if Apple were to add just a handful of specific iPad-centric features to iOS, it could make a dramatic improvement for what I use my iPP for and how I do it.

The current 12.9 Pro is an absolute beast of a tablet. Both in size and performance. I use it heavily every day for a variety of takes... far more than the typical user. In the 14 months that I've owned it, I can't think of a time when it stuttered or bogged down as a result of workload. The few times that I DID experience any slow down or stuttering it was temporary and mild and the result of an issue with iOS itself that was resolved with a subsequent update.

There are people on this forum who said back in November 2016 that they were waiting for the new iPads in March 2017. March came and went with only the iPad SE (aka 2017) being released. They heard rumors of April... so they waited. Nothing. They then heard rumors of May... so they waited. Nothing. And now they're hearing rumors of June... and the continue to wait.

If someone can wait 7 months and get by with their current iPad then they would be better off continuing to use it until "the wheels fall off" and then find a good deal on whatever is available at that time and not wait any longer.

There have been rumours that Apple are working on Pro features such as being able to annotate within Safari and apps like mail and messages along with allowing it to be linked up to a Mac and used as a Cintiq style.

I'm in 2 minds to be honest, probably return my 12.9 and see what happens in June. If not I'll have to purchase again as I can't postpone my studies until September/October...
I know I'm hoping they refresh both Pro models in June I don't want to wait for Fall to get a 12.9 inch and the 10.5 inch doesn't really appeal to me

Don't get me wrong i would love to see new iPad Pro's at WWDC but i don't think we will. I'm still thinking September but i guess we will soon find out :)

sources came out today

we are likely to see 10.5 ipad pro with the siri speaker

KGI: Apple likely to launch 10.5 inch iPad Pro and Siri Speaker at WWDC alongside new software

Interesting. I'm curious to see:
What happens to the 9.7 Pro?
Will the 10.5 Pro have 4GB RAM?
Will iOS 11 have any iPad-centric improvements?

The only answer to those questions that would cause me to consider switching from my 12.9 Pro would be a 10.5 Pro w/4GB RAM that exclusively takes advantage of the iPad-centric features new to iOS 11. :)

What timing. And a touch screen Siri speaker. I'm curious to see how that gets crammed into a WWDC keynote with 4 OS updates.

I really hope that when new Pro models are announced they replace the previous versions, but I have a feeling they'll keep the 9.7" Pro at the 499 price point.

9.7" maybe will become the already announced 9.7" simple, but they will continue until they are out of stock for current 9.7" ipad pro.
4gb ram is a must now
it will not come with iOS11 since its announced in June. So im very curious it will come with 10.3 i think and it will be a must have iOS11 in it in fall

Wonder if they'd do a spec refresh for the 12.9 at the same time
i think they must...since there is no logic to NOT upgrade the 12.9" also...so a 10min presentation for the 10.5" and some specs upgrades for the 12.9". And i think, the 12.9" next year should get some shrinking in dimensions and weight
