more anoyed!!

maybe he'd only release it in the UK to stop americans whining!

i think if we got it and they didnt, then they would be even more whining!! i would expect sales in the US would drop hugely in anticipation that they would get the upgrade too.

iPhone here in the US is only AT&T ;) and that's only EDGE. Plus AT&T exclusivity for 5 years means Apple doesn't have to worry about giving us a 3G model for quite some time...

VERY SAD, This is one Apple product i will not be buying. The reason, it going to be on O2:mad:, Will not be changing network provider i have been with for 10 years. Jobs and co need to rethink this policy and let all the network have it. O2 do not even have edge. And lets not even go 3G, Its a pile of poo on all networks.

As a soon to be transplant from the US to the UK (in 5 days...freaky) I can say that I have never been all that excitable about 3G here. AT&T has it, Sprint has it, Verizon has it, but the coverage is a) far far far from pervasive and b) most handsets lack decent technology to support it anyway.

I've been looking at the UK mobile market for fun thinking about what phone I would get over there, because you guys have UMTS/HSDPA from just about everyone, and some nice phones. As a result, I want an iPhone badly but will probably not take an EDGE model knowing that a 3G one will come eventually and will have such better datarates.

LOL. Just substitute ATT for O2. Can't wait to hear all the familiar complaints about the iPhone from Europe.

I'm betting of a 3G announcement.

i think 3G is over-rated. I havent come across a mobile that had a decent enough browser to make full use of 3G. email can come in via edge, hell gprs, because you dont have to wait for it to load as such. It just appears in your inbox. Browsing is where network speed is needed, and the majority of the UK will never have browsed The Internet(not the kinda-sorta-internet). My phone has 3G, but I never use it. Though ive always got 3G signal, so if the iPhone had 3G it would be worth using for the browsing experience.

You wouldn't want 3G from O2 anyway. The coverage outside cities (which have wifi anway) is useless (look it up).

I'm convinced that this is just some sort of announcment - the details I have no idea - but I really don't think we're gunna see the launch tommorrow...

Even still the excitement is infectious lol...

what time is this conference here in eastern time in Ontario,Canada?

I am in Eastern Time in Ontario Canada as well. All Macs shipped to Eastern Time, Ontario, Canada have this secret feature called "Date & Time" which you can use to figure stuff like this out. Look near the bottom of the system preferences panel. But nobody else has this feature, so keep it under your hat! ;)

Why are people still going on about the UK iPhone having 3G, when the article in the Guardian today already stated that O2 are implementing EDGE in order to roll out the iPhone?

If they do launch the iPhone tomorrow (from the keynote) then the Regent St. store is going to have stock, but what about 02 stores?

I'm guessing other Apple stores are getting stock the day after the Regent St. one?

Blind optimism? And the fact that most people who know the Guardian wouldn't even trust it to spell 3G properly let alone get this info right. :)

Very odd

Why sht the store 3 hours early tonight as well? Couldnt they have done the prep after close?

So in total theyve slashed nearly a full days trade - must be something serious

And if it were just an announcement - why cover the whole store - unless theyre just playing with us ;)
