No the only thing I did was got through the activity monitor and force close mail there as suggested.
Microsoft Office is the only program that updated, plus I ran CleanMyMac a few times as normal.
That does do a few tidy up processes though
have never been sold on 'clean my mac', but if you think it's helped, that's great. meanwhile, next time mail gets stuck, will try force-quitting from activity monitor, & will see what happens (perhaps i'll boot into safe mode first, before re-opening mail).

i think, ultimately, that apple needs to fix something (& am sure they will with the next beta).

EDIT: no difference, still a hot mess. will wait for apple to step up, and fix this (& break something else) 🤪

I just installed public beta 3 and having the same email issues where it just freezes or doesn't open at all.

No biggie. I know this is a beta. Will wait for the next release and use Spark or Airmail in the meantime.

silver lining of this bug is that I actually really like Airmail. Would never have even tried it otherwise lol.

for me, the silver lining is... i'm not stopping what i'm doing every time an email comes in; i just open mail several times a day... calm!

Can't do that, I'm a freelance translator and some jobs are first come first served. Mail is essential for me.
mail is essential to me as well. but if i check it 6 times a day instead of 60, the world will not collapse. almost all of my work communication is thru email, but am enjoying being less... anxious about it 👍

Airmail is okay. It's a bit buggy but it looks nice. I actually use an add-on for Apple Mail called MailButler which greatly enhances the email experience, but it comes with a subscription.

Yeah that MailButler thing isn't exactly cheap if I remember correctly. Airmail is nice, I tried a couple of but almost none of them offer Rules and I can't live without Rules ;)

Mailbulter is somewhere between $80-$90 per year. It fluctuates due to Euro conversion.

There used to be a free version that at least gave you gravatar icons next to the subject of the email (as Airmail and Spark do). Not sure if there is still a free version.

But, yes, it's expensive but I don't know any other email that gives you send later and read email receipts without some sort of subscription.

...and yeah, RULES is essential for me as well!

Well there's a new beta. Let's see if that fixes things.

It's still doing it with the new developer beta that just came out. Only with my pop accounts.

What I have to do is take my accounts offline, quite out of mail, restart mail and then take accounts online. This is really becoming a PITA!!!!

yikes, my accounts are also (my preference) POP accounts. have you tried, for example, booting into safe mode? then rebooting, trying again? anyway, will see how things go when the public beta drops (but this is discouraging).

Just a thought, do you have Low Power Mode turned on by accident? I think in low power mode, it would also behave that way. I would try to toggle that on and off.

nope... plus, why would a bunch of us have this issue?

i do wonder about POP vs IMAP accounts; both of mine are POP. what about others here, who are having the issue?...

I have no idea why, like I said, it was just a thought...because in LPM, push is disabled to save battery power...Sorry my idea didn’t pan out for you.
