Working correctly on both my 13 Pros and both my cars.Apple Maps is crashing upon open today in both phone mode and CarPlay mode. It was working fine yesterday after updating to 15.2 RC so not sure why today it's decided to kick the bucket.
Google Maps working fine.
A big update to Apple Maps is rolling out today across all Apple devices, enabling richer navigation, new 3D building models and Apple’s “street view” competitor Look Around right across Australia.
The maps rollout is happening across the day today, so check your maps to see if you’ve got the new features!
Early in 2022 Apple Maps users on iPhone will be able to get step by step augmented reality walking instructions in Sydney and Melbourne. This is similar to Google’s AR walking, using your phone to “scan” the area around you, matching that with Apple Maps data to pinpoint your location and help guide you with big arrows on the screen of your phone. Looks impressive.
I don’t yet have the full new maps yet. Tried a restart but still no 3D buildings or new map colours. Only in Sydney does it show the outline of buildings either and I do have look around though. Is this normal for it to slowly roll out?
And the countries that Look Around covers in full (Italy, Portugal, Spain, San Marino, and Canada) are all getting this second, POI-less version of Look Around—that is, with the exception of six cities: Barcelona, Lisbon, Madrid, Montreal, Toronto, and Vancouver.
This suggests that it takes Apple much longer to process the Look Around imagery that has POIs. And it’s likely that during this same processing, Apple is also extracting other features from its imagery (like road markings and real-life building colors) that are, in turn, being used to generate the new “city experience” (more on that soon).
Yep can see 3D properly everywhere now. Noticed that we don’t have speed limits in suburban roads (where it’s usually 50kmh) but have them elsewhere. Wonder if they’re just missingThose were there before. 3D buildings were in the major cities and then will show up everywhere over the next 12 hours probably.

Ah interesting. Most of our smaller roads & rural roads don’t have signs as they’re just an assumed speed limit. TomTom manages to show the limits even in smaller roads which is interesting tooApple Maps will typically not show them unless there is a sign designating the speed limit.
Hard restart and I’m seeing everything now!

‘Stop’ sign at traffic lights
Some intersections with traffic lights have a ‘Stop’ sign with three black dots. If the lights are not working or are flashing yellow, you must follow the same rules as for a ‘Stop’ sign.
One thing that doesn't seem fixed since I had a peek at my mate who was in the test a few weeks - many traffic lights are displaying as STOP signs instead of traffic lights when getting directions.
I *think* it's because they've picked up the stop sign as well as the lights, and stop takes priority?
For example ,this is actually a set of traffic lights at this intersection

Sounds about right for Sydney ?A lot of damn traffic in Sydney right now…and some accidents reported.
Just realised I can use Look Around for the actual example!Boy…you think Apple would have an answer for that. I’m not sure what that answer is though.

Intersections like this appear as stop signs in Apple Maps, not as traffic lights (which they primarily are).
But the camera/AI must have decided it should be a stop sign instead
And I have no idea how to report it....
