Looked at a city that has Look Around available. Tapped on the arrow to bring the map to my current location. Look Around button doesn't disappear. Click on button..."Imagery is not available for this area". AGH ??

This is NOT the first time this has happened to me. Every time it happens, a part of me hopes it's not a glitch and that Look Around is actually available! Darn it!

Lately I have been getting annoyed with Apple Maps.
Advertisements.

Example - went to one of my favorite hole in the wall places (one the map) and this is the difference - AM vs GM
btw - yes, had lunch there today - yumm!!!

Would like to kill them.
I get what you’re saying but at least you can get rid of those by doing some swiping. I’m more annoyed by google pushing chain restaurants in my face or presuming that I want to follow complete strangers.

Not sure setting I used for Google however I don’t get that for GMaps.
When I open GMaps I get the search bar and nothing else but map.

Wonder what I did? ?

I just discovered a strange thing. Apple Maps on my wife's mobile is different from mine in Brazil. It displays road signs, route number and more detailed location in some places.

However, I note that some corrections made on Tomtom maps share or email are not applied to his map. Conversely, all my latest corrections are present on his mobile and are not applied to mine (mainly turn restriction and roundabout). I compared our two maps in France and the map was similar. It therefore seems that this is related to Brazil.

Maybe a future update? Overall, its map seems more reliable. Has anyone ever had this on Apple Maps?

I'm convinced now that iOS 15.5 has officially "broken" Camera Mode B when navigating on CarPlay. I can't get it to come back, no matter what I do. I'm sad. Camera Mode A really doesn't show off the City Experience details all that well.

POI icon sizes are still inconsistent, and I can still bring out the larger icons by unplugging my phone and then plugging it back in.

Lately, I've been experiencing an intermittent glitch on Maps when navigating on CarPlay. If I'm listening to music or a podcast, and I make or accept a phone call, when I'm done with the phone, my spoken navigation directions don't return. Siri is silent for the rest of the trip.

It seems that this is a small update. I'm going to wait for Apple to release it for everyone. I really hope that Apple will release the lane guidance in Brazil. This is a real lack here.

Crazy AMaps issue today.

Heading up to Ojai today and pulled it up on AM. Noticed something odd.
There are two ways to get there from my place - both use different highways. One scenic, One direct.
The scenic route would not come up as an option on AM at all. Instead it gave me the direct highway and then backroads.
So I pulled it up on GM. GM had both highway routes. Checked on Android also. Both highway routes.

Has something changed in AM lately that might cause this? It always used to show both highway routes. On 15.6b1

Route was Ventura Ca (near the Government Center) to Farmers Market in Ojai Ca.

Btw. its fixed now. I downgraded to 15.4.1 and now it seems to be normal.

Here are some sceenshots on 15.5 B2:

When I zoomed in once, I had 3D buildings.

15.4.1:

So it was either a weird bug, or they changed something in 15.5.
Okay, its kinda weird... I updated to 15.5 RC and got the same issue AGAIN. I thought maybe wait for a new version and now with 15.6 B1 I still got the issue. I feel like the map view is stuck in the highway view or something. I guess ill just send an Email to the maps team, maybe they can help?

No, I'm seeing this too in New York City. I think something happened with the release of iOS 15.5 that "locked" the CarPlay camera into certain zoom logic where on certain roads, the camera is zoomed out just enough to result in no buildings appearing. This is purely a CarPlay issue, where the vast majority of car screens are widescreen.

As I've mentioned before, ever since iOS 15.0, I was experiencing two distinct camera "modes". Mode A, which more closely resembled the CarPlay camera behavior from the iOS 14 era, and Mode B, which typically had the camera zoomed in a bit closer, and showed off more of the City Experience detail.

When starting navigation on CarPlay, Mode A is what loaded 96% of the time. Maybe 4% of the time I would get Mode B. I noticed that my odds of getting Mode B would increase greatly if beginning a route that started outside the City Experience area, but was ending within the City Experience area. Even if I got Mode A, I could "force" Mode B to appear by starting a route, getting Mode A, unplugging my phone while on the map screen, and then plugging it back in.

Unfortunately, ever since the public release of iOS 15.5, I only see Mode A. I can't get Mode B to come back, no matter what I do.

I‘ve been rating hundreds of places here and I frankly seem to be the only one doing so (in addition to my parents accounts being used to boost my favorites).

Apple needs to do a better way of advertising the rating mechanism, the link buttons seem to be glanced over way too easily.

Apple should allow you to opt into push notifications that ask you to leave a rating for a POI you‘ve been at. They have loads of on-device data to figure these POIs out: Apple Pay transactions, significant locations, photos etc.
They should also allow quick and easy rating via e.g. photo details in the photos app (if it detects you at a POI, show a small tile with a way to quickly rate and post pictures) and also do the same for Apple Pay transaction lists.

They should also improve photos selection for when you post a rating. It‘s absolutely dreadful finding relevant pictures in the overlay. POIs have location data and so do probably most of your pictures… why not filter down to a selection that matches the POI location as a default suggestion? I honestly stopped bothering with adding pictures to my ratings because it‘s so damn unintuitive to find the correct photos (searching for locations is too broad and even then it NEVER shows all images taken at a location or shows them completely out of order so you can‘t quickly find all of them).

I‘ve sent Feedback reports outlining the things above as suggestions.

Cool re: France. Can regular iOS users see it for themselves somehow?
If you are one of the select few, it is usually open to all users with at least the latest iOS on their phones, but typically regional so they can get user feedback from those actually in country. Previously, it was open to select beta users only, but that was due to the fact that some Maps features were and still are only available to those on the latest iOS/devices.

Nice, will check if I can spot any changes on my drive back in 15 minutes. Latest public iOS and CarPlay, let’s see. I will post back if anything interesting pops up.

PS On AM testing. What are they testing exactly and how do they get any feedback from their tests? As far as I understood it, Apple just change stuff on their back (server) end?

Most feedback regarding Maps, traffic, routing, etc. is automatically turned on for every iPhone sold. They can activate new Maps anonymously on certain country/area specific users/ip's and anonymously track the data for those that have access. I'm guessing their hope is also that these users will volunteer feedback/issues as well, but I imagine that is minimal at best.

Well, I am not sure if I was seeing the new maps or old during my drive earlier today. Have a look, do they look new to you?
