Anyone having issue w 6s plus navigation not working. It just sticks in same location and arrow doesn't move. Either car or walking.

came here to post exactly this. tried it today for the first time and yup, won't move as i drive. GPS will find my location, but won't follow.

Is there missing info on the maps screen now? Is this how it's supposed to look until you get on the move? There's like no information on the navigation screen. Not to mention the screen cut off at the top. Maps is basically unusable.

See my post earlier to solve both problems.

Apple please make the ETA, miles left and time font BIGGER! They have the turn distance huge and everything else so tiny. No I don't want to adjust it in setting as that makes other apps big also. It's navigation things should be BIG for quick glances not squinting to see and compromise safety.

yea but we shouldn't need to enable everything in order for maps to work. thats silly. must be a bug.

It's a beta homie. They are collecting lots of data.

It will be fine release time. If you want it to work play with the combinations as I'm sure you don't need everything on.

I was just about to ask about this. Same thing is happening to me.

Your's is definitely buggy, it works fine on my 6s. Here is an article about the resign and what it should look like. Personally, I think it's a huge improvement, especially moving the Search bar to the bottom where it's easy to reach.

An intermittent feature? o_O

It's crowdsourced (I think the Privacy->Location Services->System Services->Product Improvement->Routing and Traffic feature has to be enabled) so there would have to be enough slow moving iPhones with that enabled to generate that data. Also I suspect it's quite conservative and won't bother to tell you after you set off if you can save 2 minutes halfway into a 15 minute journey (remember that it's already offered you the fastest route, based on traffic from the offset so it's highly unlikely to change significantly anyway) but will tell if you can save 20 minutes halfway into a 2 hour journey.

I've seen it a few times on longer road trips. And I'm pretty sure Apple gets traffic data from more than just iPhones, Waze is even listed as one of the data sources.

I don't use Apple Maps much, usually for a few days after a release to check improvements. I can honestly say I have never seen that particular popup.

Quite right. Straight from Apple themselves

Apple said:
  • Traffic: If you're physically moving (for example, traveling in a car), your iOS device will periodically send GPS locations and travel speed information in an anonymous and encrypted form to Apple, to be used for augmenting a crowd-sourced road traffic database.

I just wish I had the option for a top down, north-is-up view when following a route.

Assuming that the pink transit station outlines appearing in a city are an indicator that transit directions are close to being ready for that city, then places that could be added in the near future are:

Japan looks nearly complete, the routes lines are there and some already show local branding.

Dallas
Houston
San Diego
Vancouver
Manchester
Newcastle/Sunderland
Glasgow
Prague
More Amtrak
More UK National Rail

This is all just guessing, so I'm curious to see if this works as a predictor.
Now I am also finding the station outlines in:

Paris
Madrid
Rome
Milan
São Paulo
Singapore
Pittsburgh

I'm pretty positive these weren't there a few days ago. Also, the stations in Japan have all turned from pink like everywhere else to blue, who knows what that means.

Is there a way to tell Apple Maps to avoid toll roads? I travel for work and when using a rental car I've been told not to incur the charge to use the speed pass in the rental car. So I'd rather skip the toll roads all together, especially when leaving O'Hare.

  • If the highlighted route has toll roads, there will be a bar at the top that reads: This road requires tolls. Select an alternate route. If the notice disappears, the alternate route is toll road free.

  • Pro Tip: For long distances, Apple maps will give fewer varied route options. If Apple maps doesn’t offer any directions that allow you to avoid toll roads, find a place along the way and ask for directions to there instead. You’ll get more options and one of the possible routes will likely offer navigation sans tolls roads.

It's right there as an option now in iOS 10. There's options (right under Driving Options) to avoid tolls and highways. No need to mess around picking alternate routes

Figured this out. You have to turn on every location service including the product improvement ones. Tried a few combos of Turing some off but could not find the right pattern. The only ones I have off are location iads and HomeKit. Turn those on and restart the app. Should work.

Try using Location Based Alerts. That did the trick for me without using any of the Product Improvment settings.

Any improvements in overall searching? For instance, some of my searches in the Chicago area would pull up locations in California. I would sometimes search for a POI in Google Maps to get the address and then copy/paste into Apple Maps.

That will be great to see once I get iOS 10. For now, I'll have to use Google Maps since it has this option to avoid tolls today.
