So I know iSO 10 includes 'automatic' rerouting for Apple Maps if there is traffic, but I just got a audible pop-up on my girlfriend's iPhone telling me that I can save 10 minutes by selecting this new route. This particular iPhone is running 9.3.2.

It's been there since Maps launched in iOS 6:

But I've only ever had it on my iPhone since iOS 9 when they made some changes:

So if someone texts you a street address and you click on it, instead of going to the closest one based on your location, it's tried sending me to Vegas and Kansas City (20 hour ride or 30 hour ride instead of 5 minute ride). And no clear way of setting the city. Am I missing something?

Nope. For the times I tried and play with AM (every major upgrade), AM occasionally send me to regional search instead of search based off of my location. No clue why.

Beta 2 refines maps a bit. Current street is now highlighted at bottom of screen and it shows follow up turns more often (or it did on two routes i routinely drive where it hadn't before). Haven't noticed any other major changes since beta 1

Able to use navigation again with Location Based Alerts turned off. Beta 1 wouldn't work unless it was on in Location Services.

iOS 6?? Jeeze. I use maps multiple times a week and have only seen it once.
I think this started working in iOS 9 (I thought apple removed that iOS 6 graphic after launch). I have had Apple maps reroute me quite a few times. Apple Maps does not seem to like using side streets as much as Google maps and do not see reroutes as often as I used to with Google.

Is this still the case with the iOS 10 beta? I've gotten to the point where Apple Maps works generally well enough for me to use as my primary maps and nav application so I can submit feedback and POI updates. However, searching has always been generally terrible, even worse using Siri w/ Carplay and was hoping they made significant updates on that front.

Don't know as I have not installed any of the iOS 10 beta's.
With all I have going on right now I will wait till 10 comes out.

Does it have the option to avoid toll roads? I've been waiting for this feature for years. Where I live the toll roads are ridiculously expensive for very little time savings, so I avoid them.
You can do it in Settings. Or per route basis, while choosing the route.
Is there any way to mute the directions and only have voice for warnings like Google Maps or Waze?
Yes there is. I mean, you can mute audio directions. The one-screen ones will remain.

He means still have voice audio on, but only for warnings such as traffic alerts/updates (the only warning I think Apple Maps even has). Waze has 3 settings for audio: on for everything, on only for warnings/hazard but off for turn by turn, and off completely/mute.

Already requested! :)

I don't have iOS 10 installed on my device (6S Plus) since it's my daily driver, was hoping if anyone else could shed some light on if this is possible or not
I use public transport highly intensive. But unfortunately, I don't see public transit estimates in my today widget while using iOS 9.
But if your city is supported by Apple maps public transit, then you can give it a try.
Heck, iOS 10 beta 2 maps now just crash outright every time I want to search something.

Disappointed with the Apple maps! I for one loved iOS 9 maps especially navigation. Now Apple maps looks like google maps with thin narrow lines that are hard to follow. It's very busy looking and has no 3D. What a total step backwards.

Unless I was looking in the wrong place I couldn't see a way to clear recently searched places either.

Could not get Apple Maps to operate properly on my iPad mini 3 while tethering data from my iPhone 6 Plus. Upon starting, it correctly showed my location by as I moved (by car) maps did not update or give turn by turn directions, just showed me still at my starting point. I tried toggling all location based settings (which were all already on) but still no luck. Anyone else stuck?

FYI, I have the iOS 10 Public Beta on my iPad Mini 3, but not my iPhone 6 Plus.

I have problem with Apple Map, I'm not sure it's necessary it's iOS 10 problem or not, but I want to know how to configure in the Apple Map that your bluetooth that you are connecting to is your car bluetooth, cause it was working before beta 1 (and iOS 9), and then all of the sudden stopped working and I tried to forget the device and connected it again and all of this, and it's still not working and it won't give me any eta update, or parking location.
Any suggestion ?

I restarted the phone and it started to work again.

I see that the UI showing my vehicles location on the map is finally up to date and in sync with the voice prompts, previous versions always showed the UI several seconds behind the voice prompt.

That being said there are a lot of features that have become standard in the leading navigation apps that need to be added.

Used it for the first time Friday...public beta...2 hour trip to the other side of the state for a concert. Directions were fine and my location issue I always had with maps recently were gone (always had me just a little "behind" from where I was...made turning onto close streets a real pain).

Only issue was that the map "detail" dissapeared halfway through the trip...I could see the route, but no other detail was showing up on the map...just the grid....switched to Google Maps since I wasn't really sure where I was going and needed to see the surrounding streets.

Will keep trying it around town...but did feel more confident with it.

Okay...poi's still need a lot of work...but really liking it so far. It has been quick in re-routing, spot on with the routes selected...traffic has been accurate...and I have to admit, I love the way the map adjusts to show as much of the planned route as possible instead of simply always pointing the arrow "up" in the direction you are moving. Threw me off at first, but it makes much more sense especially since I use mine in portrait mode in the car.
