it seems that money trumps principles every time, almost everywhere. What happened to 'Think Different'? Present day Apple haven't yet worked out that many customers (like me) committed to their walled garden precisely because we didn't want to see what was on the other side.

With Tim Cook in support of MAGA/Trump. I hope I won't need to buy or upgrade for another 6-10 years. Minimize purchasing from Apple. Sadly stuck with Ecosystem for now. Really annoys me that Apple is now part of this MAGA movement.

From Emma Vigeland and she's absolutely correct

Sartre’s quote about the far-right from 1946 applies perfectly to Elon Musk’s inauguration Nazi salute and the mass gaslighting the right is engaging in right now.

I for one now welcome WW3. No point in humanity or compassion anymore. Heck, let apple sell all our private data to anyone and everyone who wants it. Sure it will make the stock price go up.

Also I’m pretty sure this post will be taken down as inflammatory.
Pure drama. People just need to step away from social media and its echo chambers. Touch some grass, go for a walk, go fishing.

Is he endorsing the party itself or in tacit agreement with their disdain for the impact of the open border policy for "refugees" that is altering and diminishing the culture of that nation? It is sad when centrists find themselves in the same camp as extremes on either side. Germany, England, and a few others are seeing this odd polarization of the middle pushed to one side because of the grief going on. The extreme nature of open borders has made this issue predictable. The only thing I can say as a side note is I am not a fan of much of what Musk sees as vision but I don't see him as a Nazi, a Christian Fundamentalist, or a fascist and, - I don't mean to get you or others angry or frustrated. We simply differ on this topic.
He literally livestreamed into an AfD rally, and has said AfD is the only hope for Germany. Elon's dad has even said Elon's maternal grandparents supported Hitler. So two nazi salutes is pretty clear of where his ideology lies.

I get that major media doesn't wade through this **** because they're corporate/billionaire owned and are fine with all of this, but all of Elon's behavior and actions is that of a fascist. A really pathetic one because he is the worlds most pathetic human being, but a fascist nonetheless.

Reality isn't an echo chamber. It's good to step away when you're just reinforcing anxiety with no new information, but learning about all of this wanton destruction of society isn't being in an "echo chamber"

A trillion-dollar company trying to get in the good graces of the world’s richest man? These are the real issues, folks.
Plus there’s how Tim Cook is trying to be buddy buddy with Trump while Trump is not the biggest advocate of gay rights. Apple is all about doing the right thing unless large amount of money are involved, then they fold like a deck of cards.

I don't get it when people interpret Musk's gesture as the nazi salute.

- Hitler raised his hand forward and up high
- Musk touched his heart before raising it sideway and high

These are completely different gestures. Touching his heart first then signal was supposed to mean "love you all". And during that gesture, he verbally said "my heart goes out to you". News outlets who show anger about this manipulated the situation by only showing the still photo of him raising his arm high. If they had shown the whole video of him touching his heart then raising his arm, saying "my heart goes out to you", it wouldn't be such a terrible shameful act of "journalism". They used this tactic in order to call him nazi, facist, dictator, etc...

If you guys only saw the photo and not the video, you can see for yourself here

The full video shows he did it to the crowd and to the flag, which makes it even worse. All the nazis on Twitter call it a nazi salute. It's a nazi salute.

Whether he was trolling or not is besides the point.

Apple's decision to resume purchasing ads on X could be perceived as ill-advised.

The Wall Street Journal says that several major companies are reevaluating their stance on advertising on X. Amazon plans to up its ad spending as well, and the boost in advertising could help X with some of its debt. In January, Musk said that user growth was stagnant, revenue was "unimpressive," and that the company was "barely breaking even."
I can tell you after the investor calls few days ago, apparently some of stock holders who were listening and were going to ask questions managed to get one on one discussion with Cook and the board to voice their displeasure about restarting advertising on Twitter. They know that this move will negatively affect Apple’s image and stock in the future, and will definitely bring attention to regulators in California. Most of them urged Cook and Apple to not go forward with advertising on Twitter, even if pointed a gun by Musk or Trump.

Many are calling for Apple to actually launch their own social network in fact to start competing with Bluesky or Threads or X, they see Apple launching their own social network this time would be a success, compared to their past attempt with Ping.

Sorry bud. That is exactly how Nazi sympathizers win. They need to feel shamed, called out, like a pariah, exposed. Etc etc.

You wouldn’t see a cockroach in a house and assume the problem would go away. You’d set poison and traps. This is that. Imagine if our grands let that Hitler guy live to 95…

What are you sorry for? You are all good bud. I was noticing your reaction to comments and how it seemed to be triggering and thought that for your own mental health it might be good to let other people respond to things.

However, if you are wanting to impact people and have a reasonable discussion that might be better suited to not be as reactionary. If your goal is to just say "you suck" to people, then I guess carry on.

Also, if someone told you that your exact thinking on this topic is overly judgmental, biased, blah blah blah, would you feel ashamed, called out, etc... just because some random person on the internet got mad at you?

Your approach I don't think is effective at much other than contributing to the continuation of people having emotional only reactions. Maybe there is not much more we can hope for on a forum like this? But more than anything I just wanted to make sure you kept your mental health in mind.

BTW, our grands actually DID something. My grandfather was shot down behind enemy lines, TWICE, and kept serving. He didn't just sit at home and talk about it. I am acutely aware about the need to take action but talking on internet forums (especially comprised of emotional outbursts) is not correlative to actually anything that real people really did in the real world. Talking on the internet adds to the noise and not the solution.

Elon is a nazi - it being a trolling nazi or full fleged nazi is besides the point - it's all the same.

So the world richest man endorsing the far-right party of Germany, who has a very rich history of a far right party, and we just chalk it up as an innocent concern for european culture?

For god sakes, Trump just announced a concentration camp and Elon is effectively more involved in governing than Trump is.
Everything in that post is ludicrous hysterical nonsense. This is why the national and even global zeitgeist is shifting away from the woke left. You can’t talk to them about anything because they are so deeply buried in demented propaganda and hysteria.

Elon Musk's father said Elon's maternal grandparents were Canadians who were Hitler supporters and members of a Canadian Nazi-supporting party, and decided to move from Canada to South Africa because they sympathized with apartheid.

The source of that information is the video linked below. The relevant portion of the video is two minutes long. It starts at 52:30 and ends at 54:30.

So what? Are you your grandfather or grandmother or are you a separate individual? Are we really going to go all out with ancestral guilt? Should we hang the children of murderers?

Social media isn't reality. It's cherry picked, adjusted for engagement, and algorithmically sorted to keep you and I mad and coming back for more.

There are plenty of ways to get information without ever venturing into the world of social media.

Yes we really miss out on life when we stand up against hate and exclusion. Life is so much more beautiful when people express their bigotry 🙄
My talk of having an open mind sounds threatening to you, I am sorry, I wasn't meaning to do that. Maybe having a more happy life didn't resonate as well, so I can state this in a different way that might resonate more. How about us humans in the world work to get rid of bigotry! Let' do that! But....

If we want to truly change the world, it starts with understanding people. Anyone who has had to serve in government or been an effective leader knows that change isn't forced unless you are a dictator. Change is a process. By taking a situation that could have hundreds of possibilities and boiling them down a couple, as was done in the comment, to serve a point is not helping the discussion. It is an emotional outburst that creates emotion and drama rather than creating a discussion point or providing clear information. While it makes people FEEL a lot better, this does not actually help change move forward it just adds to the noise.

Musk’s hand gesture was not widely interpreted the way this article says that it was. There were some dishonest people who tried to say that that’s what he was doing.

It's actually all verifiable. Sorry you don't have the guts to accept it.

Well fortunately BlueSky isn't set up on an engagement algorithm! Follow the right people, you can get sourced to a variety of info as well as proper analysis, instead of every other msm that is providing cover for this administration.

I only follow people on social media that I personally know, and only people I know follow me. I don't need or want to use for news and events....let's keep the social in social media.

If Elon wasn't trying to make the salute, his best course of action would have been to apologize and offer his explanation. But making fun of people for thinking that was a ridiculous move, period.

However, we all know he is on the spectrum, and anyone who has watched him talk for more than a few minutes of a presentation know his social skills in front of people are not great. So that can manifest in many ways.

I am not trying to excuse someone who performed an offensive gesture. I am not trying to not accept facts. But so far everything I have seen is just people giving their opinions or citing "news" sources that take a small piece of information and then tell us what they think it means. So, I would love to accept verified information, but I haven't seen anything, just people's opinions.

BTW, Musk is crazy! I am not defending him, I am being aware that humans easily gang up on other humans with little real facts and a whole lot of opinion. True mob mentality and then to make themselves feel better try to tie to to some "good cause"

Also, BlueSky might be good now, but once they need to make money that are screwed, just like all other social media platforms. We can enjoy it while it lasts though!
