I have no clue if this works with Apple Music enabled, but I encountered this bug before, and I fixed it like this:
* select all tracks on the album
* right click -> Get Info -> Artwork
* click on the existing artwork and press Delete (you may to have this more than once if another wrong artwork appears in its place)
* drag the file with your correct cover to the [now empty] Artwork section
* click OK
* iTunes may ask you "do you want to make changes to multiple items?", click OK.

Yep, that's what I've been doing. Typically it works, but I find sometimes the servers just don't wanna play so I have to try again later.

Is there any way I can turn off Match? Realised it's only been since then that I've been having problems.

Apple really need to re-train their staff. I've spoken to three or four different people in the last 24 hours and all of them are giving me old information. "Please go to the Music section in settings and turn off iTunes Match" ... they removed that in the latest update. "Okay please go to the Store menu in iTunes and turn off iTunes Match" ... store isn't even an option anymore. At least not on my device.

Did you say whether you were using an iOS device or a Mac? Sounds like they thought you might've been in iTunes on a Mac. Turning iTunes Match off on an iOS device involves opening Settings and going to the Music tab. I believe it's been that way for a while.

They tried both. And it's not that way for me anymore. iTunes Match just isn't there. The weird thing is, when I go to the iTunes Match link in the iTunes Store, it presents me with the "add iTunes Match" screen. But EVERYTHING in my library is still set to "Matched", even songs that I only saved from Apple Music (ie didn't purchase and don't have a local copy of).

Weird. It's still there for me, but I've never used iTunes Match. Only Apple Music. A glitch maybe?

Must be. I think the annoying thing is I Googled the problems I've been having and they date back to 2012. So I was just like... okay. I'll turn off Match. But it's not even letting me do that lol.

Checking in to follow this thread. Just had same issue, all my music disappeared from "my computer", it is actually located on a NAS. Choosing my library shows my tunes, but including purchases and AM artwork etc. What a mess. Reverted to an older library.itl with iCloud disabled and it looks ok again.

I like the idea of the feature, but they should never touch your local library.

AM truly does have an inexcusably terrible matching system. While iTunes Match may be riddled with its own problems, at least the matching system is usually pretty good.

I started an album today on my phone.
  1. Track 1 is an intro I made (which isn't on any store so it had uploaded). "B'Day (Intro)", 0:31 seconds. Despite being uploaded, it still incorrectly matched and played "If" from that same album, coming in at 3:19 seconds.
  2. Track 2 was a 6:19 extended version, it instead played the 3:00something minute edited version.
  3. Track 3 was correct, but was censored so it was also playing the wrong version.
Like, how do you **** up three songs in a row? It's really not that difficult. They clearly don't even look at ALL the metadata, they just look at "HEY THIS IS THE SAME ARTIST OR SONG TITLE, WE'LL THROW A RANDOM SONG IN THERE AND HOPE IT WORKS". They really need to adopt the audio fingerprinting from Match because this is horrible.

I called them about the mismatching. The first guy made me go through all of the usual steps, resetting my network settings, signing in and out etc. He put me through to a senior advisor, she basically just said outright "I have no idea". But she said she didn't want to just say that they couldn't help, so she's put me through to an engineer. They'll be calling me in a few days.

I said to her that I know it's just that AM needs to do a better job at matching, but figured I'd take it as far as I could. Might help them in some way? Who knows.

Indeed. The last itunes update does NOT match the issue by which iTunes Match and Apple Music subscribers get their songs wrongly matched to Apple Music instead of iTunes Match (and consequently Apple adds DRM to music they do NOT own).

This is totally bollocks. I have NOT been able to add music to my itunes library in over SIX WHOLE WEEKS.

I had this problem. I signed out of my account and back in, then it "Matched" EVERYTHING. All purchased, downloaded and uploaded were gone. Even songs I had saved from Apple Music, ie songs I had not purchased locally. A mess.

Some tracks of mine that had been previously "matched" outright were changed to Apple Music after the update.

Had to delete them and find them all over again to get away from the DRM.

I'm just calling them with every error I get, whether I know the fix or not. I know it probably won't help, but at least SOMEONE at Apple is aware of it. And it makes me feel better.

I think most of my current problems would be fixed if AM used the acoustic fingerprinting that Match uses instead of just looking at like three letters in the song's metadata and deciding that it'll be good enough.

I didn't read every single page of the 20+ here, but is there a simple way to clear what's in the cloud and allow to me run iTunes and have it resync all of my non-iTunes (offline) music?

Hey @lagwagon have you managed to keep your live tracks? Mine have now all again reverted to the album version. Or I had one album earlier that kept skipping between two different live albums (there are two on iTunes). Track 1 was from one album, track 2 was from the second, track 3 was back to the first. Sigh.

(I know I have a lot of versions of this song lol, but still... these are all "uploaded" so should just play the respective version.)

all i can say good about Apple music, is my uploaded tracks stay put and sync ok.... It's only Apple music tracks from the catalog is a mess in playlist

At last,, I can finally say something good about the service :) it took me a while, but i found software to DRM-free Apple music, and from experience, it does indeed work, unlike most others which don't...

I'm waiting to see what Apple fixes when i become a paid user for 2 months, from October, and if i see nothing have changed, them i'm gong to use grab music. and just keep everything local.

Does iOS 9.1 or El Capitan fix any of the matching/live track issues in iTunes?

I've subscribed to Apple Music and there are a lot of albums I want to add to my library, but every time I turn iCloud Music on, the match process screws up all my old live tracks and matches them with incorrect album artwork and/or album versions of songs.

Hoping Apple fixes something soon, but it's looking like I'll have to abandon Apple Music and go back to downloading music the old way.

It has been so long since this problem has been around (it goes back to iTunes Match) that I have zero hope that it will ever work the way I want. You can't even do playlists that reference other playlists.

I swear, the only people who it works for must have only purchased music from iTunes, and definitely no live albums. It's a catastrophe. It's a bummer, because I would use it.
