Fortunately for Germany it is on its way. But unfortunately no new news for the Netherlands.
This banner appeared in the ING app, last weekend.
Translation: NEW: Pay with your iPhone

Good catch, people in this thread are amazing. There's hardly place with more information surrounding the AP launch and we almost caught up with the UK thread without AP even officially available :D
[doublepost=1540385557][/doublepost]One could come here instead of reading tech-news.

Could it be that the CEO of ING Germany was waiting for the Dutch HQ to strike a deal with Apple before saying anything positive about Apple or Google Pay? And the social media s h itstorm hit them (I mean running a petition on change.org is really something hahaha) so they had to cater in?

Not to be a buzzkill but this might be promotion for the "Ok Betalen" app. I believe ING is promoting that as well. It's paying with a QR code and your data is probably sent to the highest bidder.

Edit: The link to the banner wasn't actually working. So it wasn't a promotion for "Ok Betalen". So it could still be Apple Pay! https://twitter.com/Maarten_S/status/1054268097094402048

As the OP all I can say is a big thank you! Hopefully we will stay faithful to this thread once Apple Pay has launched. There is still a lot to discuss :)

We’ve now got close to 293.000 views. That’s more than the Apple Pay UK thread. It’s amazing really, how engaged our community is!

And finally some (hopefully accurate) news: Birdie says first week of November. Apple has been finalising further deals with banks behind the scenes. This entire thing (comdirect pretending to only be interested, launch banks being given a script to stick to, social media s...storm generated and pushing banks into the arms of Apple seems to have worked. After the launch we will also hear from other banks that will launch early next year. Seems like no one wants to be left out.

Looking at this, it’s amazing how far Apple has pushed the possibilities and the wide support by banks. It’s going to be a very decent launch! Especially after we thought that we’d be lucky to get N26 and boon to launch and that would be it!

But then it will launch after the earnings call... Thats a first, seems like Germany is not as unimportant for Apple as many thought.

We are just crazy. Many of us refresh this thread several times a day I suppose. There is still a lot to discuss, yes.

Yes, I’m surprised at that as well! But, and this part of the information is just my personal speculation, it was all a strategy. And it seems to have worked! We will have 13 banks at launch another two or three at the beginning of next year, and then the others will follow in 2019 (SPK/VoBa).
