Me too. No worries.

But I would laugh hard, if it is postponed ... :D

Yes because you don’t care because you have boon. If you were in our situation you wouldn’t laugh.

And now please don’t start to say that these are first world problems, this is very arrogant. It’s just a service that many of us are waiting since years and there are many that don’t want to make walkthrough with boon., only waiting patiently that this starts.

And even if I don't had invested the 15min of registering with boon Ireland, I would laugh and not care.

Yes, it is a very convenient way of paying. But it's not paradise and after the first "yes, this is cool" moments it is just another way of paymnent beside your regular cards. You will always carry around your wallet with cards, ID, driving license, etc.

Relax.

I don't agree with that.
You don't need to carry your ID in Germany and i just have a copy of my drivers license in my car. Where I do my regular purchases (Aral, Edeka, Rewe, small businesses) they already accept Apple Pay. So I can let my wallet at home. In some situations i still take one card with me, because I know they don't accept credit cards or contactless payments, but not in my daily life.

I think there are more important issues in the German cashless payment system to solve than the current lack of Apple Pay. For instance the annoying fact that, as opposed to almost every other country in Europe (other than the usual German buddies and unicorns AT, NL, CH), the standard debit card you get with your bank account is first of all not usable for online payments and second of all not paired with a widespread international payment scheme (Maestro and V Pay are not always accepted at the same places Visa and Mastercard are, V Pay even less).

I think this is the issue the banks should tackle with next after launching Apple Pay.
Because right now, cards used with Apple Pay are only going to be credit cards (only N26 and Deutsche Bank will offer Debit Mastercards, DB for a fee).

no, you dont have to carry your id around with you. but most people do. me too.

but you do have to carry your driving license with you if you want to drive your are. not in copy but in original. otherwise you are driving without a license which costs you a fee.

yes, I know there are "tactical" reasons for not carrying your original license with you. but it is not legal. just to clarify that. everybody has to consider on his own what to do.

I for myself have a small wallet, as big in size as a single card. it has place for about 10 cards (ID, driving license, credit and debit cards and some other stuff). Small, light, easy to carry around.

Yes, a fee of 10€, which normally can be avoided if you show the original at the next day at the next police station. And in my oppinion there are also other really big advantages about this. But everyone has to decide by himself. ;)

I'm with you. I just wanted to make the legal circumstances clear. Don't want complaints about wrong advise in a few weeks from other users :D

I quite often leave the house with iPhone and Apple Watch (I do usually put some clothes on as well) no need for a wallet.

It is not the first time we are waiting for a service!
- is there a news app?
- does the watch have EKG?
- the first iPhone available was only Telekom, all other had to wait

And to admit, it was very easy to get boon and it is a German company,no real risk in it, so you have to admit, really easy.
I must say I would miss a very good time, if I would not have Boon. And yes I am way more relaxed because I HAVE Boon.
And actually it does not cost me anything, it gives me money back. ( cash back actions couple of time a year)
I am doing between 25-40 payments a month with it, so I can really say that it works great and it gives me a lot of easier and relaxing payments.

offtopic: maybe i am a bit slow at thinking, but what are tactical reasons / benefits to leave my license at home ?

Plz write about applepay.

Tonight hopes?

nope and I am not optimistic about for a launch this year.

I posted a comment some site before where I called it "official rumors". You see that Belgium got one of these. Most rumors about the German launch are the same like 2 years. "it may launch soon"

But since it has been announced there were no rumors with an exact date. Thats why I think it won't launch within the next two weeks. There was one rumor, that mid November is the last slot for launching this year. I think NL and Belgium will launch. Germany not!

but lets hope my opinion is false!

That would be really annoying.

We always have a German sonderweg in every single thing. This because this society is full of people with Bedenken, blockierer and of course german Angst everywhere.

I'm hoping for a release in the Netherlands. But as always... I will be disappointed ;) If it's coming to Belgium, I will get my banking account over there ;)

we know, that you are a cool guy close to the "Sparkassen-Lager". We know, that iOS got a low marked share and new fintechs like N26 are sh*t. We also know that AP is not the most valuable thing in life. BUT could you please stop acting like the german mastermind of the financial sector. We know your perch already and don't want to get informed by every post in this thread

If they said that they’re launching „later this year“, it’ll be later this year. Stop being so pessimistic.

You say it... totally agree with you. we still have a couple of days left in this year. Like seriously why would Apple delay the launch to next year. Apple confirmed, banks confirmed... I guess everyone is ready to go and it will happen this year. Maybe Apple is just planning a bigger launch with several more countries. Let’s see what the earnings call tonight has got for us.

Everyone, stop getting so worried (as @kkrdvc said)!

November launch incoming. Apple and banks have confirmed, there has been quite a lot of press... I'm repeating what has been said.

No need to panic :)
