I would guess it’s Santander and Commerzbank that Apple is waiting for.
Santander because they themselves have said on Twitter a few days ago (!) that they’re currently doing the necessary to launch at start and Commerzbank because comdirect is launching as well.

it is getting ridiculous!

i turned to apple products because i wanted to be on cutting edge of computer technology, but lately it's waiting, waiting, and i am happy if i can participate after all someday with functions other companies implemented already and worldwide.

Sorry, but this needed to come out :(

But it's not Apple's fault! Santander and Commerzbank sadly won't be launch partners, as they are just too far behind with the implementation. The reason why - apparently - the launch hasn't happened yet, is because some partners (comdirect, due to the late announcement?) were slow in getting everything ready for the implementation. Apple won't launch now and then add a bank in 1, 2 or even three weeks time. A launch now with all available banks and then the next load will be added next year.

(Information from people who seem to know people who know what's going on).

Let's just chill. This week we still have tomorrow and Thursday, if not then we have next week. If it hasn't launched then, we still have a couple more weeks in which a launch is possible. It will launch in 2018 and we'll get the banks that have been published by Apple on their site. Apart from the delays I'm glad we know this for sure. Imagine if Apple had not announced Apple Pay for Germany and we'd be waiting for the Earnings Call next February! :D The frustration would be understandable.

EDIT: And I also think we're getting much more attention then people think. The TV app is doing well in Germany (ARD will probably be coming soon), we have the best selection of eSIM providers (damn you, 3 and Vodafone UK!) and now Apple Pay with a great launch. Much better than most launches in the past.

I get where you are coming from but this is hardly an issue with Apple. How long is it that major banks have launched their solutions in Germany, 3 months?? That is next to nothing in the bigger picture. Blame German society if anything.

I got the notification twice. don't know if it was a single fail or a launch bug.
But great work at DKB. This makes me using my DKB Visa more often and not my N26 MC.

But we see that the fintechs doing a great job. They are pushing new technologies that are adopted by the large players. I hope that the Fintechs will earn the result of their work and don't get lost in the market.

About AP:

Whats about a delay cause of other countries? A single Launch for Germany would be not unsusal but I think a country like Belgium and the Netherlands is easier to launch

But push@dkb is implemented only for the Visa... not for current accounts... again a workaround without covering everything

But in my eyes the most important because when leaving the counter you can already see what the merchant has billed your card and you can returning it is too much.

Are you guys really discussing DKB app features here? really?

For me the other way... I want to know when our salaries and fundings for travel costs have arrived... the only reason why I check the app or Outbank. With Push for my current account I don’t need it anymore

why not? nothing new about apple pay ;)

another interesting fact:
I just saw, that CommerzBank offers MasterCard debit now as well. As it seems only in their "Klassik Konto" for 4,90€/month and besides the standard GiroCard but advertised as
"Auch die Commerzbank Mastercard Debit (Ausgabe einer Debitkarte) ist kostenlos dabei. Eine Karte für alle Fälle: Ob im örtlichen Supermarkt, im Internet, im Ausland oder am Geldautomaten."
Could be the first move to a transition to MC debit only.

Of course it is to be mentioned in this thread.
AP requires a participating Bank. At the DKB Update you can see they are working to be a digital leader at the bank industry. This also means they got mobile Payment (AP/GP) on their roadmap.

They dont have to intruduce push notifications. If you are paying with AP you got Wallet notifications. It is not necessary for a bank to implement ist

If I pay with my Smartphone/Watch via ApplePay, I don't need push notifications from Apple Pay. I know, I paid something.

It would be more interesting to get notifications from card payments online etc. to detect fraud. It does not make anything better, I don't have any legal advantage compared to knowing it not before receiving the bill. But it would be nice.

just my 2 cents.
[doublepost=1542113503][/doublepost]Ok, don't try to get information from social media teams :D:rolleyes:

"Eine Kreditkarte und eine Girokarte sind nicht das gleiche. Daher kann die MC debit die Girokarte nicht ersetzen."

oh boy...

Old news, this has been around for ages.

I also mentioned a while back, that a transition to regular MC/VISA Debit cards is inevitable.

I agree with the fact that this thread should focus on Apple Pay. I'd love discussing German banking, Girocard, developments etc with you guys, but that would have to be in another thread. I'm not surprised that we haven't seen many of our followers comment on here for a while. They're probably frustrated by the mass of "stuff" not related to the thread title.

ok, did not notice this until now. just checked comdirect now and then and there is girocard & visa credit still mandatory

whitout these discussions around the topic, this thread would be dead or only filled with "i know something"-tweets that disappoint everyone.

would be quite boring, but ok.

Once Apple Pay launches, this thread will get more interesting. At the moment we can't do more than wait and maybe post stuff we find (leaks, sites etc.).

Honestly, I figure some of us would have plenty to talk about related to German banking in general...

With comdirect the Girocard is mandatory, but the VISA Credit card is optional. You can also apply for a VISA Prepaid card.

MasterCard even has an extra site for their debit product: https://www.mastercard.de/de-de/privatkunden/produkte-features/produkte/debit-mastercard.html
Maybe Visa might join them soon ;)

Shall we carry on in the other thread?

Well Visa has just announced the launch of Visa Debit in switzerland, Mastercard Debit is replacing Maestro in Austria beginning next year.... slowly but surely, Maestro and VPay are dying out.
