I don't think its Apple Pay.

Could be something like push message. If it is an AP Launch without any announcement i would jump in my car, drive to Berlin und would kiss everybody inside the DKB building

I really have the idea that they will be launch partner... there are some hints... but to be realistic I don’t expect it. They announce the upcoming update (that close to a possible launch date?) with
„Den geplanten Release mussten wir leider 2 Wochen schieben, da noch mehr schöne Dinge mitkommen.“ (beside Push)

you're reading my mind ;)
That would be a huge surprise, they are giveng hints like this.
my theory: they signed the contract later than the starting banks. that's why they are not allowed to do the promo stuff or just want to get the marked advantage in comparison to ing.

But this is a wild theory. I would not read to much into it

No, DKB won't be launching Apple Pay. Sorry to disappoint. But Push is nice!

BTW I've been playing around with different accounts and trying to make my mind up which ones are best for which use case. Honestly: If ING supported Apple Pay, I'd switch away from N26 for my expenses account. Push is great and even works for Girocard. I don't know what trickery exactly they used to get that functionality, but it's great. I also just like their polish on the online banking, the apps and overall the branding. Very modern, very clean. Just a shame they put their gears in reverse for AP, but that should soon change.

Then again, were Monzo to launch in Germany...

...and then the update was postponed when Apple Pay was also postponed... and it will be available early in the morning... Why? What is regularly the time when Apple Pay becomes available at launch day? wild stuff in my head... without wine/beer/wodka or any other drugs

Yes, I wondered about that too. Does anyone here know at which time of the day Apple Pay would probably launch?

For everyone: Launch is always in the morning (localised for the country in which the launch is taking place).

So anywhere between 5-6am to 10-11am. Later then that would be highly unlikely.

The launch isn't going to happen this week.

And regarding DKB: Push for VISA, some optimisations in the app and a redesigned broker are what's coming tomorrow. No Apple Pay ;)

beside this funny little guy (fremschämen...)

well... what is Apple doing? are there really that big technical complications to turn the switch? or are they waiting for a additional big fish to launch, that came a bit late to the party? but I don't see a market member that comes to mind and that would be big enough for such a delay...

tbh: I cannot imagine big technical problems which would make apple wait... they have started Apple Pay before and it should be something easy for them to start in other regions...

they have apis which are actually working. and tbh this is apple there is no-one at vacation being able to fix something and I cannot imagine problem being that huge to delay something like this for months...

and the new big player - I also cannot imagine who the **** this could be to make ALL others wait for... tbh I cannot even imagine apple would wait for VRBank or Sparkassen when they would have changed their mind...

Could be because of Santander

Apple lists several partner banks on the Apple Pay website. If you now start Apple Pay and some of the banks, or even just one, were not yet ready, you would have to remove them or add a note "coming later". It's just a guess, but it's not Apple's way. Therefore, they start when all banks are ready.

maybe, but I cannot imagine that huge technical issues making a bank not being able to get it fixed. there are well documented apis and the technical teams on both sides will work hand in hand...

Oh, to gain access to 75% of the German market, they would wait for sure if it would only be a few weeks.

but no, VR is not even close and S needs time until H1/2018 to be ready. otherwise that would be a damn good rumor submarine.

nope.
