Apple Pay Apple Pay in Germany

Well I guess everything we were expecting to happen prior to Apple Pay launching in a new country turned out to be wrong. Usually Apple Pay launches on Tuesdays - wrong. Apple usually announces at the conference call new countries - wrong. Apple Pay launches between 8 and 9 o clock - wrong. Funny how things turn out sometimes.

Maybe AP won't launch until mid December. We don't know. It could be today, tomorrow, next week or at some other time.
 
Well, strangely enough, the Apple Pay Setup asks you for the corresponding app in order to add the Debit card. Haven’t seen that before. But that would mean, if the system works similarly in Germany, all banking apps must be ready for that first.

You can also just scan them but the preferred way for Belgium seems via the app of said banks
 
Bunq just announced that Apple Pay is available for Bunq costumers in France. They only supported Spain and Italy until now. Seems today is big Apple Pay day. If we dont hear something about Germany today I cannot imagine that we will get it tomorrow or this week at all.

Everyone stay cool... possibly another few hours until a Germany launch. The launch window for today hasn’t closed yet.

Do you have examples of other countries where it started during the day? I thought the 5 AM thing was common over all AP countries?
 
I don’t get the announcement strategy of AP. Announcing Germany at an earnings call months ago and a webpage weeks ago, but not activating it.
And then, countries get activated which weren’t even in the rumors two weeks ago. I mean, KZ really?

In recent times most launched between 7 and 10am. Not as early as 5am. I’m assuming it’s because BNP Paribas Fortis has scheduled a press conference with a demo at 11am.

It's probably smaller countries - Germany is quite a big launch!

Perhaps apple does not want to be responsible for heartattacks of some crazy Germans, if the launch to day. :D

If it would some guys really would get a Herzkasper :p
