r bank or building society doesn’t offer just a chip & PIN card they’ll either invest in a shielded wallet/case or even tamper with the card itself to disable the functionality!
True.Thats exactly where Apple Pay comes in place. As the NFC in Apple pay is only usable when acknowledged (Touch-ID, face-ID or Double TAP Button on AppleWatch) the NFC Data can not be stolen by the NFC Spoofing Technologies, that are used for the NFC Cards.
Apple Pay actually does use a persistent virtual credit card number (the Device Account Number). The security comes from the additional use of one-time security codes. But modern RFID credit cards also use one-time codes, so in that regard they are just as safe as Apple Pay. Even if a thief was able to sneak up on you and skim your RFID card without you noticing it, they could at most use it for a single transaction. But there are less risky ways to steal money, so I wouldn't worry about it too much. As far as I know there isn't a single known case of this kind of RFID skimming theft.Additionally the data Apple Pay would send is even worthless, as it is no creditcard number (its a transaction ID that can be used nowhere).
Both Google Pay and Samsung Pay are just as secure as Apple Pay.Beside that I believe that the android versions that use NFC usually send the credicard# and valid date, but i am not sure of that as I dont have a Android phone for a lot of reasons.
Ukraine next one to get Apple Pay? The Terms & Agreements seem to pop up when trying to add a card of the Privatbank. https://twitter.com/alexiberogo/status/979465249551241216?s=21
Did you „unlock“ Apple Pay before by changing the region settings?
What do you mean by "reinstalled"? Did you do a clean install?
This can happen sometimes. On my watch I see the terms and conditions before a watchOS Update and Apple Pay is included within the terms and conditions.Today I completely reinstalled my IPhone X with 11.3. The language and region is as always in German / Germany and have discovered this here. I hope this will finally unlock Apple Pay and Cash
Have you ever changed your region before? Because that would have been part of the iCloud backup you put back, right?
I wrote that here. Another example was Russia. Some others on Twitter reporting the same thing (in Brazil). Just check #ApplePay.
But I just think these are bugs or people who switch regions. I recently had the settings for the News app appear on my iPhone after updating to iOS 11.3. Is probably just a bug somewhere deep in iOS that had UK saved as a region somewhere as I often switch between both (for different reasons).
It is interesting though that, despite Apple announcing it a while back in February, Apple Pay still hasn't launched in Brazil. I keep hearing Netherlands, Germany, Poland in all of this and these were also rumoured countries late last year.
[doublepost=1522673595][/doublepost]An addition: I always thought new countries for Apple Pay got announced in some way beforehand. Checking back, both Ireland and Italy were both just switched over from one day to the next. There were some rumours beforehand, but no Apple announcement of even press release until hours after the launch.
Considering this actually anything is possible (esp. looking at Apple recently not sticking to their usual times and days for software releases)!
