I do think that the banks are completely ready and just apple needs to hit the button. We have learned that even the banks know nothing, so they won’t be able to schedule a downtime for releasing Apple Pay...

[/ QUOTE]

Sicher? Quelle..... ;)

What leads you to that conclusion? The truest fact is Santander had issues in November.

We saw two recent launches, BE and KZ. Both started very early at a local time. When we think of having Apple Pay being activated between 4 and 5 in the morning the participating banks won’t go under maintenance after 4 and 5. they would be completely ready by that time.

Need no source for that, just my own brain to think about those processes...

And: when ppl hope for a start tomorrow and think a Bank being in maintaining tomorrow is a sign, it’s just nonsense... and not directly connected to Apple Pay...

Last watchOS update bricked my boyfriend's Apple Watch so I'm a bit scared of updating. I do think iOS 12.1.1 is perfectly unrelated to Apple Pay releasing in Germany unless something completely unexpected is coming along with it, like Apple Pay Cash.

I think Apple Pay Cash needs no iOS Update .. in the JSON file under "US" there is "PeerPaymentSupported": true ... So i think they could activate it without an update.

Because, 4 years ago it would be a game changer, esp. since back then I couldn't even get a NFC card from my Sparkasse. Nowadays it's something everyone should have by now (a nfc capable girocard)

Well, as i got my NFC card from my main bank (Commerzbank) just last week, and only the maestro card, not the MC yet, i doubt that everyone has a NFC card already. Come to think of it, my main MC (yes, i have quite a zoo of cards by now) does not have NFC yet and since it is valid until 2021 it will most probably not be replaced until then. Not that apple pay helps there, as neither Commerzbank nor Degussa offer it, which is why N26 works quite well for that in my case, opening an account took all of 10 minutes, and then a week to get the card as i was cheap and didn't want to pay for a 3 day delivery.

I know a little bit of topic... but why did you pick N26 over comdirect, sounds like thats a great solution for "I have enough cards and only need a new one that works with AP" (aspecially with that 200€ bonus)

I tried to add my DKB card to AP but it won't let me (well even less then comdirect which at least shows the "Nutzungsbedingungen"... really had hoped DKB would join quitely... I mean they were the first to have an Mockup with ApplePay at an event (a) year(s) ago...

DKB will join in April 2018.

Commerzbank will also join Apple Pay, hopefully in the first few months of 2019. I also assume ING won't wait too long with the implementation, they might also be ready by April, as I'm sure they won't want to be left behind their two main rivals.

Is there any statement where they said they'd join in April? So far I've only seen the one tweet about them not discriminating other operating systems...?

They announced Google Pay, information leaked through Finanz-Szene.de that they need to wait for OSPlus 19.0 (released in April) from Finanz Informatik (IT management for DSGV, DKB uses their platform) to be ready for mobile payment systems.

Also the DKB guys on Twitter have been as clear as they can be (in my opinion surprisingly open). Most fitting quote: "Der Weihnachtsmann war noch nie der Osterhase." Just read between the lines. AP is coming and it will be in April.

Once AP launches in Germany, further banks will be allowed to show up as "coming soon". Of course no bank is allowed to give exact dates and who knows, possibly there will be some delays. But April seems to be the aim - if Apple plays along.
