I am 100% positive that it's not because of their stores. I don't know why this was even picked up when somebody wrote that crap...

Apple, a company that can ship millions of new phones in a day, with all the logistics, they are able to send a few new terminals to 15 stores and install it in a minute after hours that it is ready...

So maybe something else, but definitely not that...
I don't think so either. Maybe someone at Deutsche Bank is trying to distract from the fact they have problems integrating AP (+ are under investigation due to ... ANOTHER scandal) :D

I think we all here will survive the waiting period until 11th of december. It´s a tuesday, it´s enough time for apple to earn money with christmas and so on. Next stop: 11th for me. But I don´t have any insider information, too.

I really never thought it would be december, when Tim Cook talked about apple pay in summer. Never ever. Would even be better if he didn´t say a word: Look at Belgium. ;-) (Hope for Austria again)

It seems more and more likely that Austria will be a part of CEE launch early next year. Multiple Czech, Slovakian, Slovenian and Croatian banks have confirmed they’re working on implementing Apple Pay and that it’ll come pretty soon. So there’s not much waiting left.

Why should they still have trouble integrating it? They integrated it in 2015.

Yes, you´re right. But the waiting time seems eternal.

I and many others are waiting for years. I remember when I've bought my iPhone 6 in November 2014 I said to myself: "One day, I can use this piece of technology to pay for my groceries."

Fast forward, 4 years later, my iPhone 6 turned into a XR and this service still has not started. In my point of view, it's another missed opportunity of Apple to make some ground in Europe compared to Android. Because, 4 years ago it would be a game changer, esp. since back then I couldn't even get a NFC card from my Sparkasse. Nowadays it's something everyone should have by now (a nfc capable girocard)

I need it to finally be able to use a digital Suica instead of just another card.

Why would you need Apple Pay in Germany to add a Suica? Works for me since the start. (Of course only with devices that have the Felica chip but that won‘t change after a release in Germany.)

To charge the card after adding it...
Well while Apple Pay also works for that, using any normal Credit Card also works via the Suica app (including prepaid cards like the Line Pay card). Or just go to a convenience store and use cash. Or... just get a dcard Prepaid with id and add that to Apple Pay, don‘t need to have any credit history for that.

But granted if you want to charge directly from a German card I guess Apple Pay support is convenient because you don‘t need another app.

Hmmm, I am not sure what that means - I can't find the Apple Pay page anymore on Amex

When you go to https://www.americanexpress.com/de/applepay/ you will automatically redirected to https://www.americanexpress.com/de/...ngsarten/digital-wallets/apple-pay/index.html
But then, the page cannot be found. Really weird.

Maybe coincidence: Sitemap doesn't work either, but all the other pages. https://www.americanexpress.com/de/sitemap.html?inav=de_sitefooter_companyinfo_sitemap

I think they restructure their website and the hyperlinks are dead until they fix it :)

For the desperate ones… Fidor Bank (which will support Apple Pay) has scheduled a maintenance for tomorrow between 6:00am and 7:30am.

How often does this happen with them? I'll take anything if it possibly gives me Apple Pay. Another thing to hope for xD

Keep in mind, however, the comdirect has frequent maintenance from midnight and people have been attributing these to Apple Pay launches multiple times. So it's important how frequent those downtimes are. If this is an exception for Fidor, it could mean something.

Yes, I know. Apple Pay shouldn't require maintenance. But you don't know the backend system of the banks. Nothing is standardized there. It might require such a thing.

I don't know, unfortunately. I just signed up for a corporate account with them today and saw the maintenance notice while uploading some verification documents. Maybe someone else can chime in?

It sure is a long shot, but as I don't know of any other clues that are floating around currently, I thought I might as well share it.

Still better than some of the tweets that were discussed in the past. ;)

Since you're a Fidor customer, could you log into your account and click on the "mehr Details" link next to the notice and let us know if they share any details? Since my account is no verified, yet, I get redirected to the "Legitimationsunterlagen" page when I click that.

Thanks a lot!
So pretty much everything is on hold for that time except MasterCard transactions which would probably be the one thing that would be affected if this was somehow related to ApplePay.
Not necessarily if it is only about payments and if they are handled via MC servers. But that is just a guess.

I don't think so. Anyhow many banks already stated, that they don't need a downtime for introducing Apple Pay.
