Are you serious? Apple Pay uses Tokenization and even never sends your credit card data and even does not save it on the device. You should definitely investigate some time to learn about security with ApplePay.

I think you misunderstood what Heineken said. He meant the revolut virtual card + Apple Pay makes it even safer than just by running around with your main card and pay „physically“.

I understood the comparison with the physical card, but why make a virtual card and then add to ApplePay. Does not make it any more secure than using the real card, as ApplePay IS a virtualization of you card ....

If you run around with your physical card and lose it you need to lock your Apple Pay too. You can’t lose your virtual card so it makes it „even better“... I guess that’s the point he was trying to make.

Just to be sure. Revolut is like N26 (real account, no fee in smallest account, no limit for using the account), but uk based. And topping up is less pain in the a.. as N26 is cause I can use a cc for and not wired transfer.

When topping up using a German CC will it be a foreign „purchase“ or will it be something „local“?

Thanks for answers

Edit: I am with ING for main account and i am using Amex, N26 or bunq for Apple Pay. Amex is not supported everywhere. N26 it’s too much of „work“ to top it up and it’s just to slow. I have a free bunq account which is limited to 250€ per month.

And i have curve, which neither supports Amex or Apple Pay at all

It’ll be a transaction based in London, UK. But you won’t incur any charges since you’ll be topping up in euros.

You stated that you want to create a virtual card which is much safer for ApplePay and that is just not needed:
Of course it is safer to use virtual revolut card for Apple pay than the physical one which can still be cloned or stolen.

But to be honest. That’s how it works now. Nobody knows how this account will work after brexit (and it looks more like a hard brexit at the moment then a soft one ....)

They said multiple times that their customers won’t feel anything since they have both a banking license in Lithuania and an e money license in Luxembourg, hence if Hard Brexit does happen, they will simply shift all their users to their other entities inside the EU and all you’ll hav to do is tap on „I agree with Terms and Conditions“ when they change them.

As it hasn't been mentioned. I wouldn't normally touch Revolut with a bargepole. BUT: It's the only way to get a free maestro card for Apple Pay (as only bunq offer a maestro card and that's €7,99). I have auto top-up enabled from another account and will use Revolut in emergencies when Visa/MC/Amex aren't supported. That's actually quite a cool use case admittedly. But they are NOT an equal replacement for a regular current account.

Ok. Seems revolut is kinda incompatible to the extra layer of security to Visa cards.

Tried to top up my account using my Visa card. The process is started as normal I am directed the verify screen inside the revolut app and have to choose the device I want to use to authorise the payment. When heading over to the banking app to authorise the payment everything’s fine. Heading back to revolut it’s telling me that there was a problem with network connection and payment wasn’t done. Using a 2nd iPhone to authorise the payment without leaving the app, everything is fine.

Asked support and they said it’s a problem they cannot fix.

As I saw you mentioned you’re using your ING Visa - gotta tell you that I and many family members and friends have had issues with using their Visa card for online purchases on phones. Once you get to the 3D secure screen and confirm the transaction in the ING app, the checkout process just stays stuck at the ING page with no way to go further. On PCs everything works fine, which is weird.

Wow that’s really weird. Not using the card directly a lot. Most times i pay using PayPal and then most times I am using my Amex. But could try to use my curve card to proxy the ING Visa card and top up the Account. I just want some of easy way to pay using my watch... hope ING starts supporting Apple Pay soon...

Currently only the physical card has a PIN. Important when you get to a terminal that doesn't support CDCVM. Then you will get asked for PIN or signature. Some gas stations around me do have such old terminals.

What they say and what they get are two parts. Read this and think about how valuable a banking license in Lithuania is?
Why did they do it there? Because it was easy?
https://www.finews.ch/news/banken/35945-revolut-litauen-banklizenz-europa-compliance

Read also this:
https://www.digitalmedia.ch/news/revolut-schweiz-banklizenz/
And this sentence:
„Revolut wird im 2019 die Lizenz erstmalig in Littauen anwenden; die litauische Bankenaufsicht hat Revout eine «spezialisierte Banklizenz» gewährt.“
That’s why I don’t trust them for more money. It’s a play account for ApplePay for me.

Maybe that helps. Going to try tomorrow

https://community.revolut.com/t/resolved-top-up-my-card-with-3d-secure/34382/19

Edit: Was not working. Added my curve card now... so ING Visa > Curve MasterCard > Revolut

I also use the Curve for top-ups (also with other services) and that's basically its sole purpose. 1) It's a debit card (so Monese for example doesn't accept credit cards) 2) you can easily switch between cards and 3) you can set auto-topup to the Curve card but switch cards in the background without having to verify a new card every time and make purchases before you make a change.

What I'm really waiting for is the maestro card to work. Every time I add it I get through to the T&Cs, accept and then it fails. When I check my overview in Revolut, there is a failed authorisation payment from MasterCard in there... Anyone had any success with the maestro?

Now all Revolut cards seem to work. :)

No issue with Schufa, even if I have 2x Giro and 6x Credit Card. If you grow it over time they are not interested. Score is 98%+ (depends on the score you check).
But from my Apple Pay cards only one is in Schufa

In case anyone had problems adding the Revolut Maestro card to Wallet: Since around 6pm it's working for everyone. Head to the Revolut app -> Cards -> Enjoy. Was thinking about having bunq as a Backup solution, but this way Revolut fills this gap between MasterCard/Visa acceptance and only Girocard (which thankfully is getting less and less). My local bakery now accepts contactless cards. After a short introductory phase with only Girocard they've now switched to accepting Maestro+VPay.

Netherlands
You can now order the Apple Pay stickers, and get it deliver in The Netherlands.
isn't that a good indication that Apple Pay is really coming soon for The Netherlands?
