As I saw in a Video from the event, Helmut Schleweis wears an Apple Watch ;)

Don´t want to say that this is a big factor for the planned adoption of Apple Pay for Sparkasse.

But maybe it helped just a little bit for the decision overall when the DSGV president uses Apple devices. Or at least it helped that he is not toooo much against Apple Pay

It will nevertheless be interesting to see if they will be able to implement the backward Girocard in AP 2019. It is a so far behing national solution which still does not support cdcvm, tokenization, online payment and other things.

Maybe they will do it like Deusche Bank and start with a virtual debit CC and Girocard later on.

In my eyes you are right. They will start with a debit Card and the try to get their solution ready for ApplePay. I believe it was more a hectic reaction on the boom other banks had and maybe some first customers who asked for it and searched for alternatives.

A Debit Card, which would cost me more than my MC I have. This would be stupid IMHO.

sparkasse's girocards all have the maestro co-branding. they could also just add it as maestro to AP.
seems to be the simplest solution for me.

Yes youre right, this could be a smooth possibility as well. But also only as interim solution as Girocard IS their "holy cow"

Just wanted to share some interesting information considering bunq. Starting from today bunq offers a credit card called "travel card" with no creditline for existing members. Preorder is available and cards are expected to being shipped soon. The "travel card" will work now truly as a credit card and it will be marked as "credit" on the front of the card too. The card design for the "travel card" is slightly different than what the debit cards look like.

More informations about it can be found on together.

Completely unrelated (well, not completely) but I guess that's also the date it will go live in the Netherlands? ;)

That would be cool. I've got my fingers crossed for you all... :)

Btw I like the ad that ING NL has created... https://s3.eu-central-1.amazonaws.c...static/misc/ING_APPLEPAY_IC_VOICEOVERtest.mp4

I think it's also about time that ING Germany starts with at least some sort of "coming soon" pics. It's been nearly 6 months since they announced they would support Apple Pay...

Yeah it's a cute one. As I understand the terms and conditions of ING change per June 1st, so it could be June 3-4. Or it could take months lol

Wouldn't be the separate T&C you have to accept during adding a card be enough?

Do the have to change them for sure before they can start?

I don't know really, it's one "hint" there is, but given the commercial I don't think it's going to be months before it's released in NL. But not sure if those T&C have anything to do with it.

The never ending "soon" got to an end.

Currently not working for my physical Master Card. Could only add my virtual VISA.

I can see the T&C but fails after this. At least this is a good signal after months of coming soon.

After a couple of tentatives, I just added Revolut to my wallet. One more Apple Pay card!

Only works for cards with UK/French BIN numbers (usually Visa/MC older than mid-2018). Officially, Revolut has only launched in those two countries. The rest will follow later in the year.

This reminds me a little of the bunq trick in March last year, when loads of people got "Italian" or "Spanish" bunq cards to get Apple Pay working. I wonder if Apple will restrict the use soon... There doesn't seem to be any system check on where the user is registered, only where the card is from... o_O

VISA (Blanko) BIN 459654 - Works
Mastercard (Blanko) BIN 535298 - No
Mastercard (Virtual) BIN 527346 - No
Maestro (Personalisiert) BIN 679835 - No

All GB BIN, except Maestro regarding BIN checker

Some of these BIN checkers are... not always that accurate - to put it nicely.

Btw for people using boon. or VIMpay then might as well switch to Revolut, as they also have an auto top-up function...
