The problem with internet shitstorms is.... 40 people get angry and loud, look like 4000 but are just 40 or 50. And the other 400.000 customers who don't care at all, don't even notice ;)

but nice article. and another proof, that Apple is willing to launch with a few even minor banks, if they want to.

They will change the way you add cards in iOS 12 to be able to add also VPAY and other debit cards through the wallet app.
Maybe. But in my opinion as a developer this is nothing more than a definition of something that has already been implemented. Apple Pay has never been built for a small market with only a few actors.

And a card has a number, a date till it’s valid and some kind of code, even you cannot find it printed in the card itself. So, this is nothing “new” to Apple Pay in handling a card.

“Take some information found on the card, send it somewhere, get back all needed data to negotiate the basics for the tokenisation. Done”

Well, sometimes the world is not that simple.

It’s just Germany.

Let’s take Sky for example. Even though they just released the Sky Q tvOS app for watching IPTV, you still have to buy their crappy Sky Q receiver first.

They have no technical explanation for that. Just greedy board members trying to force you to buy stuff you don’t need.

is this different in the UK?

If I read the sky uk website correctly, it's the same: Sky Q = Sky TV Box + second screen on aTV, etc.

I didn’t know it’s already available in the UK. They might just copied that marketing technique to sell their hardware though. :D

Sky Q started in the UK 2016, announced 2015.

So... what is „just German“? To say „just German“ and think anywhere else grow rainbows and only here everything is soooo bad. The grass is always greener beyond the fence. Altough it‘s the same swamp.

Jeez, dude. Chill.
Sky Q on the aTV launched in DE first and I can’t find any info on the UK launch to be honest.

So, before you explode, please provide me with a source for your information.

Aaaaand you don’t even know me, so stop talking to me like that after reading one post.

No offense, sorry.

See, Sky always uses their own box as their standard device. Anywhere in the world. (Except their Sky Ticket products)

Sky Q is a new product line that was introduced a few years back in the UK and was added to other markets, sometimes with different feature sets. Also nothing new. For example, in Germany there was an iOS App for SkyGo, in Italy they had also an app for Windows Phone. In Uk in Germany there was an App for Xbox 360 and so on...

In the UK forums they speculate that they will offer the aTV later this year.

As I said, no offense. I just got a little bit allergic against phrases like „just Germany“. You read it too often here and in the majority after little bit of digging, it‘s not better or worse.

Found on my watch using iMessages. No Region Settings changed, still Germany.

Nothing else (being different from before) can be found bout Apple Pay.

Ok. Never had this before on my devices.

Thanks for enlightening me
I honestly don´t know, if this exact scenario happened already but Apple Pay showed up in Germany within betas, on phones as well as watches.
I just hope, AP will work also on my AW Series 0 till I get a Series 4.

Yeah, but tbh I don’t think there will be changes to code to Apple Pay, just settings. Even they add new kind of cards.

Maybe u won’t be able to add ur card directly, but I think u will be able to do so using banks applications... but don’t even think that.

As I wrote, it will be some kind of configuration and no new code. All the magic is done on the Apple servers. Even today you can add the cards manually by entering all information needed... and a Giro Card has a card number and a valid Date... (Apple Pay is saying that this kind of Card is not supported yet)

And the adding of cards is done using the iPhone. The watch will be able to make a token, so don’t worry

2H/2018 starts in a few days ... the crying
This already happened before within Betas.
thank you. i was close to get the beta 2 on my watch just to check and proof

the barrier of updating my watch to the beta program is normally to high for me, because there is no way back but sending the watch to apple.

Well don’t always want to update. But have to... the sake of developer/it project manager...
(un?)fortunately I don't have :apple:Watch projects/apps, just playing around with iOS and macOS apps for private use and skill enhancement in swift (the developer program is quite cheap, early access to all new betas of OS or Xcode).

Well I need to keep an eye on customers apps, so we can tell them quite early what has to be done to keep their apps online and working... 3 to 4 months is not that much time to find out something is not working, tell customer to pay for a fix, get it fixed - maybe some new features etc - quality checks, sometimes a bit marketing for new version etc... several customers...
