Sorry. Overread it.

If someone is interested, you can read this pretty long thread.
@holimuk and @ulle1979 are also a part of it.
The result is that Mr Ullmann (@ulle1979) is not interested in Apple Pay and so my conclusion would be that Sparkasse won't happen.

There is not a single word, that Ullmann is „not interested in AP“. He just gives another point of view and let every door open.

But nice comversation. Senilebooster aggresively argueing and getting personal as known. Even with Holimunk:

NP :) But ur right, can't be the android app. Maybe Apple is announcing Apple Pay on earnings call and Sparkasse is going to announce the support of Apple Pay the day after...

But that would be something Holimuk has denied. He repeatedly said that Sparkasse and Volksbanken is not going to support Apple Pay

Not in 2018. But his sources might be wrong.

Everything is reading tea leaves... there are hints here and there and denies over there and hopes about here and ... in the end everything is different than all expected

Really? I think ulle's statements about Apple Pay are more than clear. Apples contract is "ruinös" for the Sparkasse and Sparkasse is sitting on a "Elfenbeinturm". Furthermore I think holimuk is wrong with his prediction, that AP for DE can only be announced at the September Keynote. Either we hear something on the investor calls this year or we hear nothing. That is at least my prediction.

The „Elfenbeinturm“ came from, oh wonder, SenileBooster.

In contrast, ulle stated that nobody is blind or deaf. So... we will see

Nice article I stumbled across from December 2017 about US and NFC Payments. As we talked a couple of times about US and Apple Pay interesting to read and mirrors my exact experience I had in May 2018 in California.
https://www.cnet.com/news/its-still-weird-to-make-mobile-payments-in-the-us-heres-why/

And they have another most recent one comparing the systems. I must admit that MST from Samsung is one of the technologies where they are really ahead, although I think it is more important in the US. Here usually when they accept credit cards, they usually always have contactless, too?

A few pages back, I posted the YouTube-Video to the cnet-article.

And as you state that the US is technologically still far behind Germany and Europe at the POS, you get insulted...
(use of magnetic strips or chip+signature is ridiculous in 2018 and unsecure but still the most common way of payment in the US)

Perhaps one of the reasons, why Apple Pay still does not make any big steps in market share on the US market... low adoption rate in daily usage, because you have to carry your credit- or debit-card around too. To use the magnetic strip, which many european cards don't have anymore, because they started to implement smartchips back in the 90s... (first usage in the 80s in France for example).

Perfect statement!
This was exactly my impression to the US Payment Industry. If you compare it to Germany the rate to pay with AP is much higher than in the US.
And the contactless update to the pos rised in the last 2 years.

The time has come for mobile payment :)
Sparkasse and Volksbanken with their own Apps, Google Pay and (maybe) Apple Pay this year

So my guy answered me but I'm not sure if he does actually know something. He is not in a leading position or something like this so take this information with a grain of salt.

Nah. I'd be happy to be proven wrong, but this speculation here is taking off to an entirely new level (might be those scorching temperatures?)... It was a Monday morning tweet by them and they sometimes post stuff like that (motivational / "life" memes and pics). Just as many other banks / companies do.
I wouldn't read anything into it, especially as Targo isn't exactly a big player. They're tiny and not what Apple is mainly interested in. Others, such as Commerzbank / Comdirect, have already openly (in the press) said they would like to launch Apple Pay and they also were there right from the start with GPay. So they're the ones to watch as they are obviously breaking out from the general trend of either a) blocking Apple / Google Pay and b) only doing a proprietary Android NFC app.

Let's wait and see if we get an announcement tomorrow. None of the usual signs of a launch have appeared yet (such as adding German cards in Wallet gives us T&Cs, Apple Pay DE site, changed help pages, leaked stuff on banks websites). This Rudolf Linsenbarth guy is adamant that Apple Pay is coming in 2018 and he has been mostly spot on with other stuff. So I trust him with that information. Everything else is guessing. It's also fairly certain that Sparkasse/Volksbank customers (I also bank with Sparkasse) have no need to get excited. It's not coming. So if you guys want to play around, use your holidays, get boon. / bunq or N26 (the last two via workarounds) or any other foreign accounts (such as KBC) and enjoy Apple Pay over the summer :)

I wouldn't say Targobank is tiny, they have 4 million accounts (private & business). So, they are bigger than DKB or Comdirect.
