As long as Apple does not announce something, no bank or financial service will announce anything to new regions. Period.
I was not suggesting or speculating that bunq would announce Apple Pay in a specific country. Last time they did a keynote theydid offer a workaround for Apple Pay, and it was possible to use the service with cards issued outside of Apple Pay countries.

Furthermore, I agree with you that Apple is the first to announce new countries. However, with such reasoning you can silence any rumor or discussion. And thats what this thread is about. :)

why apple should stop developing everything for Germany? Even if there is no launch this year.
Apple wants to bring APay to Germany sometimes even the benefit is negligible.

let's calm down and wait for the earning calls/ keynote in fall this year.

But: I am very optimistic about some statements from DKB and the other banks who launched G-Pay. If one of the "Direktbanken" Launches with AP the pressure to the competitors will rise to follow the tech-portfolio ;)

Something new from Austria – sounds interesting:

https://twitter.com/raiffeisen_at/status/1022128459173298178

"Aktuell sind noch einige technische und rechtliche Fragen zu klären."
Isn't that more than other banks admitted so far? Most of the time, the bank won't even admit that they are talking to Apple about ApplePay in the first place.

I am indeed getting more optimistic these days that AP has a chance this year in AT, GER and possible NL :)

Hmm... NL, DE and AT...

A BIG bank (orange!) springs to mind... they have also had plenty of positive comments on the topic on their Dutch Twitter page... And the German branch can't hold back from mobile payment forever :D

ING does not offer Apple Pay in any European country. They probably wait until they have lost enough customers.

According to their website they are also a market leader in Belgium. That doesn't stop them from not offering Google Pay as well. They offer Google Pay only in Poland.

https://instant.cornercard.ch/?lang=de-DE

Cornercards' Virtual Prepaid-Cards are now also directly available in Germany... and support Apple Pay! Apparently, these can selectively be chosen in either VISA/MasterCard and then also CHF/EUR or GBP... Anyone have any experiences?

The 19 CHF fee seems to be for the period in which the card is valid for... CORRECTION: Another page of theirs states it's 19 CHF per year... all very confusing with conflicting informations on their T&Cs.

when you just take the information found on the landing-page for the instant card its 19CHF onetime payment. but there are several information mission which would be handy to know... what is the main-currency of the card (CHF, GBP, EUR? Differs, but depends on something!?), what are the costs when topping up? what fees need to be paid when paying in cards currency, or a foreign currency?

when taking information from 'normal' cornercard page it seems to be kinda expensive: 19chf per year, 3% top-up fee, 2% for foreign currencies... and max 5.000chf/year.

based on the information found on that landing page its kinda dubious... lets hope for the earnings call... if there is no information bout Germany, we can take a closer look at cornercard

maybe cornercards instant card is available in other countries using euro as currency and having apple pay

According to Cornercard support, the 19CHF fee is a one-time issuing fee. The information on their overview page is incorrect.

The best options are obviously still boon, KBC and bunq... Just wanted to add them to the list of easily obtainable cards that support Apple Pay (and the Cornercard app is available in the German App Store btw) :)

Another thing: Allianz is thinking about launching Allianz Prime (partnership with VISA + Wirecard -> Apple Pay / similar to boon.) in Germany... big potential for them with a large customer base!

But to add the card, do you have to switch to Swiss Region?
I doubt that you can add it with Region set to Germany?

I don't know because I'm not planning on getting the card. I guess so, as the German region (mine is usually set to UK) doesn't permit adding cards. The button for that in Wallet is (still, until the day it officially launches) locked under the Germany region setting.

Is it a coincidence, that Sparkasse releases its own mobile payment solution for android at July 30/31, exactly one day before Apple maybe announces new Apple Pay countries? Or is that just too much interpretation from my part?
