Looks like I need to book an Airbnb in Germany to get a second bunq card ;). Luckily it's closer to home than Spain

Now we need the participating banks... :D
Or: When it's public. Switch to them. That's the only language the other's will understand. That's what I have planned, at least (unless any of the four banks I'm with support it, but I'm just doubting that at the moment ).

Mhhh, if you take that what Targobank said at twitter seriously, then Targobank? :D

as said, some banks wanted to announce something "this week". let's see, what they're doing and who's leaving their covering.

Dude you still don’t know what you are talking about. You have no insider information and you ain’t know **** about what’s going on with Apple Pay. You kept repeating the stuff that was being said from other people and posted it on Twitter. Your claims have been wrong and wrong again. And your last Post was just your your standard pre earnings call hype. You just jump onto the hype train and hope that it’ll turn out good. You did not even manage a specific country in your twitter post which tells me again you ain’t know ****. Of course if you keep repeating something it might end up true eventually but that’s not based on insider informations it’s just the way things go. Like saying every year over and over again Bayern will win the champions league ... well one year that might actually happen... So just stop the act. I don’t believe you and many other people aren’t either. As matter of fact it’s actually very amusing to follow your twitter seeing that you still have the guts to pretend having knowledge even after you got burned multiple times.

Sorry for my off topic here just needed to get that off my chest. Cause in times of fake news and fake media where you don’t know what’s true and what’s not ... we don’t need even more people spreading fake news even if it’s just about simple topics like Apple Pay.

Now back to topic:

I didn’t believe that they are going to announce Apple Pay. But that targo Twitter made my hopes go high for last night. Now I know people keep saying and I did myself assume this Sparkasse won’t offer Apple Pay but if you think about their tweet from last week I wouldn’t be too surprised if they actually do launch Apple Pay.

I didn’t follow the conference call did cook say later this year or in this quarter? Cause if he said later this year that might actually mean that Germany will be the last country to join Apple Pay this year.(?)

Btw like I mentioned a couple of weeks ago I am unable to use my bunq Apple Pay card for unknown reasons. Support couldn’t help me either. Now I deleted the card from my wallet and every time I try to set up a new card I get an error message popping up telling me it’s not possible to set up Apple Pay. I used to be able to get to the screen where I could scan the card but I can’t now. Maybe it’s bugged because of iOS 12 beta I am running on my phone? Or is this how it’s supposed to be. My region is set to standard Germany.

You have to change the region back to a country where your card comes from and ApplePay is enabled. I have to do the same when I want to add Boon, I have to switch to Region Ireland. ApplePay is still not enabled for Germany and usually the countries only accept the cards and issuers who are available in the country.
That's why you get a list of the banks in the add process when you hit help (or however that menu was called)

He actually said "this fall". Whatever that means, I would predict somewhere September - maybe when the new iPhones are launched.

btw: I can't believe we got an official announcement yesterday. This is huuuuuuuuuuuge, at least for me. I don't want to ever live without apple pay!

Don’t know if the topic came back to Apple Pay after the flrst speech of Tim, but in the flrst place he said literally „later this year“.

Which I would interpret as „not before end of october or even later“.

He also said "later this year" at the announcements during the last earnings call. I think this is just a standard sentence like the producer of Final Fantasy XIV always says "please look forward to it".

Would be nice. But I don‘t see the connection to the iOS 12 release or new iPhones.

But we will see.

By the way... you can feel the panic in the press offices today. „Damn... they did it. They really did it. What do we tell our customers?!“

I don’t see a connection to iOS 12 either but I have a feeling that we will see a much bigger launch with more banks then google pay achieved to launch with. If they managed to get some big players on board they could show off on the big stage. After all it’s always a google vs Apple. I listened now to the earnings call and there are more then once comparisons between Apple and google for example google play store vs AppStore etc. It is very likely that Apple - if they got many banks on their hand - will use that to show off how much more successful Apple Pay is then google pay. Show off and launch it together with iOS 12 and the new iPhones. And if we follow the pattern of Apple Pay launches lately then September would fit quite nicely since it’s the last month of this quarter.

BTW i actually managed to add my bunq Apple Pay Card to my wallet again thanks for the advice with changing region. Interstingly though I cannot add it from inside the app cause I’ll always get the message incorrect region. But If i add my virtual credit card informations manually it works. But my „real“ bunq cards cannot be added to my wallet. (You get one virtuel card and up to three physical cards. Cannot add any of those three only the virtuel one.)

According to the German newspaper "Zeit", ApplePay has already launched in Austria :D
Tim Cook hatte das System im September 2014 vorgestellt, in vielen anderen europäischen Ländern wie Frankreich, Schweiz, Spanien oder Österreich wurde der Dienst inzwischen eingeführt.

I'm also quite happy that AP got finally announced for Germany. I don't really care if they launch in the fall or in the winter since boon is working smoothly.

Ok, we have one Name on the table. I think that will make some more make a call... think we will know most names soon
[doublepost=1533110707][/doublepost]And i still think Sparkasse is going to support Apple Pay. The only reason they said is, that Apple has not opened the API to the Chip yet. We all know better...

But this reason has no worth anymore. When a customer asks his Sparkasse for Apple Pay support and they said “lack of open api” they can still refer to the missing api. But the customer then answers, but my colleague at deutsche Bank is able to use his watch to pay.
[doublepost=1533110780][/doublepost]At my opinion there are two scenarios which are possible here.

They are with the first day banks or they are going to start right behind the first starters...

God, those articles are awful... but at least we know Deutsche Bank are launching. That's something. It probably won't be a Micky Mouse launch, then. But interesting to see that Postbank won't launch it. Obviously, Deutsche Bank wants to reserve certain functionality for their "premium" customers.

@Karma_isA_8itch You can add your physical bunq cards (even the Maestro one). I have them both in Wallet, authenticated through the app. Only problem is, that you need to also change your address in the bunq app to Italy or Spain temporarily (wherever you ordered the cards to). The Maestro also has a card number btw which helps you summon the card in Wallet.

Some more name dropping and - as stated before - Volksbank and Sparkasse won't be part of an Apple Pay launch. Apart from that the normal suspects: Commerzbank/Comdirect, BW Bank (interesting...) and at a later date ING DiBa (due to technical reasons). That would already be a great launch and a lot better than what Apple started off with in other countries (prime example: Switzerland).

Just to let me know.... how should Apple Pay react, if I want to add
- my MasterCard
- my GiroCard
- my Amex
?

If terms & conditions come up, is the issuing bank mentioned or are the terms generic?
