I´m happy about Apple Pay start but in general wondering about the clear statements of the banks that confirms to participate to Apple Pay in Germany.

Was there any Apple Pay country in the past where all the banks gave an statement the next day after the first announcement through Apple?

I mean in the past after announcement there were only speculation and rumors about participating banks and the day it finally launches the people get the full list of banks. Okay at some places maybe some banks were giving information but not the whole branch.

And here in Germany we can ask the bank and get some kind of direct statement. The banks that confirmed it will have signed NDA´s. So do you also think that Apple lower the rules for confidentiality for Germany or maybe from now on in general for future Apple Pay countries? ;)

Some say, that Apple allowed the banks to publish beforehand. Possibly a strategy to get other banks on board once they realise the backlash they're seeing via social media!

I think and hope this is exactly what will happen
[doublepost=1533127897][/doublepost]For sure all banks are monitoring all others. I think we will see some more movement till it really starts here

Are they all sitting in a room discussing when and why or why not?

Okay I now saw the iphone-ticker link that you postet on the updated first post. There it is clearly obvious that all the banks use the exact same wording! That is no coincidence. That wording came from Apple.

But I like that new strategy because it put some pressure on the banks! :)

I think that they want a lot of pressure. Maybe that's gonna be really huge when the pressure is high enough...

I think they will rethink their decision;-)
[doublepost=1533129181][/doublepost]
So these people are doing it right. Telling the bank what service they ask for:

Nearly over 70 comments only today (didn´t read all, only count it, maybe some refer to other things)
and many more from months before.

EDIT: Alanin, you were faster ;)
Not hard to be faster. Sitting train to Munich ;-)

I'm loving it. :D I feel like no other country after an announcement has had such a wave of articles, speculation and complaints via the press and social media than here in Germany.

I think there have been complaints in all countries where ApplePay came up.
I remember in the nordics, that people where really emeberrassed that a major bank did not support.
I think in switzerland it is still a "fight" and also in poland, a lot of people complain about their bank.

Not even in the UK (where I spend most of my time) was there this much uproar over Barclays sitting / waiting and trying to push bPay (or whatever it was called). Just from my point of view...

But it's great that the list keeps on growing (see first post in the thread). I will keep the post as informative - with links to the announcements - as possible.

yeah it's fun to see the backlash of ING customers in the comment section. I hope they do follow through and switch to another bank once ApplePay has launched so that those comments aren't empty threats. If that will happen and a noticeable number of people switch their banks, maybe the other banks will get on board of the AP train too :)

No sources and scraped together pieces from Twitter without context. Without wanting to blow my own trumpet: Check the first page of this thread. I've got it covered.
But regarding Sparkasse, I was told that Sparkasse will launch Apple Pay this year. Got that told by a friend who is at management at a local Sparkasse... posted that a few weeks back

You also just get tweets and quote news sites ;)

And t3n is the only site who claim to got answers. Not Handelsblatt, no SZ, ... no press release. Also a little bit fishy :D

That page has no links to any sources. I'm linking to press articles (by respectable papers such as Handelsblatt or SZ) or the direct and official communication by the banks via Twitter/Facebook etc. You decide which sources you trust more. I like to see the direct quote when reading about speculative stuff. Too much copy and paste out there. I'm just gathering all the info in one place

An der I wanted to know, where they got this Information. That‘s the ? for. Because I did not read it anywhere else.
(Just like t3n pretend to have exklusive information)

For the first day after announcement we already have lots of partners, hope this will continue.

Great work with the updated overview on first post!

My theory is that Apple was not able to get an agreement with sparkasse/volksbanken etc. and now Apple try to get as many different partners as possible until end of year to break the resistance of sparkasse/volksbanken indirectly resulting through the Germans that will agressively demand Apple Pay from them with torches and pitchforks! (Okay little bit exaggerated but you get that point :D)

Maybe Germany is also a very big milestone internally for the Apple Pay department/project team beacause as Tim always mentioned Apple loves challenges and so it could be that the cash situation in this country motivates this team more to finally approach Germany and achieve great results in a for Apple Pay bad environment (banks and peoples behaviour to payment methods). That´s why Tim yesterday only mentioned one country until end of year. Because lot of work for them here^^ And end of the year at Apple Pay department´s christmas party they hopefully have something to celebrate :D
