Shop at Tesco came to £40. Contactless logo was still present on the terminal so I tried Apple Pay. Kept saying card presented too early. Tried a good few times. Same result. So I'm guessing they don't have it set up for higher value transactions. Shame.

Tesco don't at the moment.

As I work for them I've logged my details (via Twitter) so the more people request the feature the more likely they are to implement it.

The same happens at the store where I work but the Ilkeston Extra loses the contactless logo from the terminal(s) when it's over £30.

I see that the co-op have finally added Apple Pay.

Tried to request the feature via twitter. Having no luck. Keep getting told the £30 limit is set by banks and visa and there's nothing they can do. They clearly don't understand. So frustrating!

I'm not on Twitter at the moment but will see what I can feedback.

Hilariously the Ilkeston Extra has the new IR scanners at the self service.

Tried the PayQwik app and it scanned to be met with: "this store doesn't support this service yet".

No disrespect to my employers... why have it on the tills as a payment method option then?!

Halfords at Ilkeston also support Apple Pay now.

On the receipt it says: Cardholder CARDHOLDER_DEVICE so it appears they may be £30 and higher.

Popped into Tesco for some things I'd forgotten last night.

I can finally scan the QR Clubcard code on the new tills!

Tried to get a time frame for when Apple Pay will be accepted on the web for John Lewis (since they were listed at the keynote). Twitter reps had no idea what I was going on about and kept referring to the partnership card and how Apple Pay will be added to that soon.

Sounds about right!

I don't use easyJet and have no need for a new mattress so am using this: https://stripe.com/apple-pay as it's just a demo and doesn't bill your card.

Good news. From the 25th Sainsbury's will start accepting contactless and Apple Pay as well as Android pay, both of which will not have the £30 limit.

Initially it will only be available via a select amount of 'Local' stores, I.E. all those that have the new till system update, usually this means stores with self scan machines will not be in the initial roll out. A good way to determine if your local 'Local' store has the new update is if when you pay on card and you get the receipt, if the card verification and the item list is on one receipt instead of 2 separate ones then the store has the new till system update, bare in mind stores are being updated daily.

Supermarkets should get their roll out from early 2017.

Since the roll out is starting now and will then be on an individual store by store basis it is unlikely that I will be able to provide anymore information on this in future.

Pay at pump facilities in petrol stations will not have contactless, but the petrol store kiosks should.

In terms of Sainsbury's their Local stores in Derby only have manned tills; it's only city centre London & Manchester where I've ever seen self-service terminals.

I've never seen a Sainsbury's Pay at the Pump forecourt either.

However it's great news they are going to allow for Apple/Android payments over £30.

There are 2 Sainsbury's locals in Bristol City Centre, at least one of them relies on self service.
Anyway the spending limit thing needs sorting, as staff never know what is possible. I work in a place that accepts contactless payments, We have two terminals for contactless payments now. One of which only offers 'insert card' for payments over GBP 30, the newer terminal by a different company still offers contactless even if the bill is over GBP 30, unfortunately I,so far, had no customer to pay over GBP 30 with Apple Pay yet

Pointless to everyone else on here but kids golf coach's chip & pin did Apple Pay, we just gave it a go and it worked. I then had to explain to him that it wasn't the same as contactless (this was for both my kids' for 6 weeks) but to be fair he's a golf coach not a retailer!

All the Sainsbury's in Brighton are self service

How expensive is the car park!

A couple of years ago when it was Westfield it was around £1.80 for two hours.

Now it's £3.00!!!

Edit: I didn't spend over £30 on parking but going by what's been said previously I guess they are set up for high value AP.

Been to IKEA this evening (big mistake!) and saw Apple Pay decals at the main entrance. Excellent I thought. Nope.... it's capped at £30.

Been to a garden centre near Tamworth today.

Apple Maps said it takes Apple Pay so offered to pay for lunch as it was over £30.

No, it's also capped at £30 there too. Really wish Apple would tell retailers not to display the decal if they don't accept HVPs.

Apple maps tells you where Apple Pay is taken? I'm so buried in google maps, perhaps I need to take a closer look!

I have just heard more on this. I have heard of a number of stores which is set to have contactless from tomorrow, and some of them are stores with self scan tills. This means that contactless won't be limited to local stores without self scan tills. However the rollout to supermarkets still remains to be in the new year, and stores will be rolling it out on an individual basis.

Excellent news. Fingers crossed they'll follow Tesco and allow for Nectar cards to be added to Wallet.

Nectar is a 3rd party company which Sainsbury's use and are arguably their biggest name or at least the most used. Whatever Nectar do with their compatiablity is up to Nectar and not Sainsbury's.
