ahh, since i moved to china i only get the last transaction on my china unionpay cards anyway, but everything comes through as an SMS straight away so i forgot that aspect.
Main reason why I'd love an AMEX is to get every transaction through as a push notification! But since it's not accepted at some places I shop often I don't see the point just yet.

Sainsbury's are expected to start cascading news about contactless payments to their colleagues from tomorrow.

Out of curiosity, do ApplePay terminals in China also accept payments from phones setup with a European Visa or MasterCard? (rather than UnionPay)

Am glad to see Sainsbury's are finally getting around to rolling out contactless payments.

Hopefully some of the bigger names will start to take Android/Apple Pay over £30 too.
I've not heard much yet on Apple Pay, or even what was said (waiting to hear back).

The last I heard was that they hoped to have it running by Christmas time, with stores having trials this month.
[doublepost=1474980021][/doublepost]Just heard back. Contactless is being trialled in 3 Sainsbury's stores, unknown locations. I'm getting the impression mobile payments are not included in the trial, as they said they will roll out with a full roll out of contactless, which is an unknown date.

Apparently Sainsbury's are making such a botch of it because they can't launch it before their QR-code based payment system ZAPP.

Contactless in their shops and cafe would be good as well, especially given Waitrose has it!

Am surprised that JL aren't quicker with Apple Pay. They're upgrading their credit cards to contactless now (maybe that heralds roll out of terminals in their shops too) but apparently they won't be accepting Apple Pay. Conversely, my new M&S card is not contactless but DOES work with Apple Pay. Having moved to an iPhone 7 I have been now sent their Apple Pay T&Cs by snail mail twice now - seems a bit unnecessary!

Am surprised that even Apple seems not to have implemented Apple Pay through Safari in the UK yet.

Oh so it's not just me that hasn't managed to get it to work.

Can't remember which website I saw it on... may have been Cult of Mac.

Was the guy from the North East of England on about Mac OS Sierra and some new features and he went onto Apple's UK site.

Weirdly he had Apple Pay as an option at checkout.

Just picked up my JB 128GB plus from the Apple Store. Apple Pay was declined when using my Halifax card! Had to use chip and pin and it worked no problem. The specialist said it happens sometimes for Halifax and Lloyds when it's over £30! Shame.

Ok, today's experiences:-

Apple Pay works at Premier Inn, paid for rooms approx £150.

Does not work at BP petrol station on the way there. Cashier told me definitively "we can't change it from £30 it's set by Apple" which is obviously completely wrong.

I think it's on their website and in the Apple Pay terms & conditions that they may limit the transaction amount.

More than likely down to fraud even though it would have been securer through Apple Pay and not Chip & PIN!

That's exactly what I thought. I had a little conversation with him about Apple Pay. Apparently part of the deal Apple made with the banks states that if there is a fraudulent transaction through Apple Pay then Apple will cover the cost. Basically they're so confident about its security! Which they should be!

Absolutely.

Okay nothing is guaranteed 100% secure but Apple Pay should be leaps and bounds ahead of ordinary contactless/Chip & PIN transactions.

I contacted my local record store to ask them if they would consider accepting >£30 for Apple Pay, I gave them the details on how to go about it but they replied back saying they already do.

I'm pleased to inform you that we already accept Apple Pay. Our machines are enabled with it- and I have not yet experienced a situation where a limit has been reached for someone using it. This could be because people very rarely ask to or choose to use it in our store. Is this something that has happened to you?

So next time I'm in there I will give it ago. You buy two LPs and you're quickly over £30!

Just been to Aldi. Shop was over £30 again so I tried Apple Pay and it worked again! Reciept still says no cardholder verification so I have no idea why it seems to work.
