Haven't used the Shell app yet despite having one if their sites nearby that is usually quite competitive. Their app seems a little clunky & the need to set a max transaction beforehand is annoying.

It's a shame that Trainline charge booking & creditcard fees otherwise I'd use them more often. I always buy direct from the train company - with Virgin Trains East Coast, you generally get a free wifi voucher when booking their advance fares direct with them and no fees to pay.

It is a shame, definitely.

I looked at Virgin Trains on Monday for a fare in December from Birmingham through London.

Went to book it directly with them yesterday and the fare had risen hence the visit to Trainline.

In a way I don't mind paying the booking fee (there was no credit card surcharge unusually) as I know my details are slightly more secure instead of entering my details directly and running the risk of having the account compromised and used fraudulently.

Fair enough but just worth saying that you can buy all national rail tickets from all train operators. Roll on the day when all major online retailers take Apple Pay (and the alternatives). Northern Rail accept Apple Pay at their ticket offices but not on their website yet.

Also, the Virgin Red app is quite good. You often get offers of 20% off Virgin Rail advance fares.

Head Records in Leamington Spa accepts Apple Pay over £30. Just picked up the new Metallica record and another which totalled £44.

I normally use East Midlands Trains and funnily enough thetrainline appeared in my last email from them.

The Asda superstore in Nottingham has accepted Apple Pay for a while now and so does at least one of the Sainsbury's Express stores.

The Asda at Langley Mill enabled contactless around a week after Asda "went live" so to speak.

Haven't shopped at Sainsbury's in a while but another poster (few replies above) said it's being gradually rolled out.

Downloaded the Shell Motorist App today as I see you can 'Pay at the Pump' with PayPal/Apple Pay.

For some reason the Apple Pay feature is missing from the app.

There are a couple of reviews in the App Store from users with the same problem so will wait for the next update and see what happens.

Are you on the Beta? They told me that Apple Pay isn't available if you are.

I'm starting to find a few more places taking payments over £30

I bought a new waterproof jacket from my local bike shop on Saturday which cost £100. I'd forgot my wallet so it was a pleasant surprise when the contactless symbol came up on the machine allowing me to pay with my watch.

Just used Apple Pay at my local Sainsbury's store in North West London. Self-checkout tills now run a new software and have stickers saying that we can now use contactless and do mobile top-ups

Have just used Apple Pay via Safari to buy a popcord (www.popcord.co) as there was a special offer on. Useful little thing to have with me as I always seem to forget my lightning cable when out & about. Somehow it used a billing address/name for my partner but not sure whether that matters when using Apple Pay? Guess I'll find out soon enough!

It's possible to change the billing name/address when the prompt appears-when completing a CNP transaction am surprised the card issuer didn't decline the transaction based on an address mis-match?

Have you ever purchased something for your other half to be shipped to them?

Sainsbury's really need to hurry up and sort out contactless. Slightly embarrassing experience a couple of days ago when I forgot my wallet and only had my iPhone.

Yes that's why the address seems to have got mixed up. Given that my billing address did appear as the delivery address, that might have been enough. Just checked my transactions (you made me doubt myself!) and it clearly went through. I wonder whether Apple Pay overrides billing address as part of the token process.

Possibly, seeing as Apple don't collate such data (unless I've interpreted their privacy policy incorrectly).

It's great to see some websites are starting to add Apple Pay as a checkout option. If only Apple's U.K. store did the same online-it's still not there!

For anyone outside of London (M25 area), Plymouth and Northern Ireland Tesco have updated their Clubcard app today.

That means you can finally add your Clubcard as well to the Wallet app-unfortunately I'm unable to do so as I've a staff discount card myself but am glad it's finally nationwide!

No iPhone App.

My comment was Asda supermarkets accept Apple pay for some time.

Corrected there is Asda app though not Apple pay compatible.

Wish I got to try Apple pay online in UK -haven't seen any sites that would warrant a 'trial online purchase'

Apple's UK store still doesn't have Apple Pay in Safari for some strange reason.

There are a couple of websites posted above e.g. Shopify and Trainline.com but I sometimes use https://stripe.com/apple-pay which doesn't charge your card but shows how it works on iPhone/iPad/AW/Mac
