Good spot! The store I visited is listed as accepting Apple Pay as well so the listing is wrong. Does anyone know where Apple Maps gets that info?
View attachment 691321

I think there are a variety of ways:

1. Business owners update the information on the website Apple have somewhere (Maps Connect?)
2. From people using Apple Pay regularly in the store itself.
3. People (like me) visiting places contactless/Apple Pay is accepted and reporting it as a 'problem' within the Maps app itself; I've done a handful now and two-three working days later Apple update it accordingly.

I've just reported it as a problem in the Maps app. Thanks for letting me know!

For those of you with a Tesco Clubcard stored in the Wallet app... have you got a new design? Mine has changed since yesterday morning!
Yep mine has changed. Although I still can't seem to use the QR code. Standard barcode works best for me in the stores I visit so I can't use the wallet card. Have to load up the app instead. But QwikPay works fine so I don't really understand that

Does your store have the newer style NCR terminals?

I found the QR code never worked for me until they upgraded them.

Despite the change in text on the SACATs Apple Pay is still capped at £30; tried it this morning.

I don't know to be honest but I thought if the QR code for QwikPay worked then the QR code for my clubcard would work too when using not paying with QwikPay. Weird.

Found this article on Gizmodo comparing mobile payments. Had no idea about Vodafone Pay until I read it. One thing they do mention a few times is not needing authentication (fingerprint or PIN) for payments under £30 for the likes of Vodafone Pay and Android Pay and they write as if it's a plus point. I don't know how you lot feel about this but one of the main things I love about Apple Pay is that it needs authentication for ALL payments, regardless of amount. Much more secure in my opinion.

I agree and so did a colleague of mine who has Android Pay.

I love being able to fill up at Shell and know I can use my phone for purchases over £30. My last one was £41 even with the £3 voucher they gave me!

Yes I must admit I find it somewhat un-nerving Android Pay isn't as secure at the checkout for transactions under £30.

Whilst nothing is 100% fool proof Apple had the right idea with TouchID to authorise all payments on iPhone/iPad.

Have any of you received strong resistance to using APay for these higher value transactions? Bought 2 tyres yesterday and was hoping to prove AP, but was firmly rebuffed by the cashier ('it don't take over £30, mister') even though I insisted with him. It looked to be an older terminal anyway and I'd not been in good stead moments before due to turning down a request for my address (lots seem to want those now, why? So you get mailshots or they can 'remember' you) so didn't pursue it. Should have shouted it's me paying and can use any method/card I want as long as the bill is settled, Afterthought is a thing.

I don't think it's anything more than lack of knowledge on the subject. I've had this a few times when paying over £30. I sometimes ask before I try if it'll work or I sometimes just wait to see myself. But I'm often met with "It has to be below £30" or whatever. If they're right and the terminal isn't set up to take higher value transactions yet then I'll think fair enough. If not and it works then I'll explain that since it's more secure than a regular contactless card it allows me to use it for higher value transactions without having to enter my PIN. It all comes down to lack of proper staff training on the subject I think even at places that display the Apple Pay signage.

Absolutely. If physical card contactless wasn't capped at £30 there'd be more understanding/less confusion perhaps?

Exactly. I think as mobile payments like Apple Pay and Android Pay become more popular then we'll hopefully see more understanding and less confusion. I personally think the key to this is the supermarkets. With Sainsbury's now making a distinction in their signage that they accept 'mobile payments' at checkouts and the fact that they don't seem to have limits on this could hopefully lead to more people learning about the difference and hopefully more businesses implementing limitless Apple Pay. Why can't there be more businesses like Pret that had it limitless from day one? :p

I agree with you; I know the trend in supermarkets (at least) has been smaller shopping baskets rather than one full trolley a week but they'd gain more customers if they could use Android/Apple Pay for larger amounts.

It's about time some of our retailers allowed loyalty cards to be added to the Wallet app and set up via Apple Pay; people like Boots, Sainsbury's etc.

Edit: my Clubcard now shows on my Lock Screen at work so any feedback to Tesco does get listened to :)

I agree, I'd love to see some movement on loyalty cards in Wallet!

I'm tempted by the Nike bands released today, went to go checkout and Apple Pay is still not available on Apple's own online store. Really?!

And Apple still don't have Apple Pay on their UK website.

Given the amount of time it's been available over here now and the banks/building societies that support it... must admit I'm surprised!

Might be because the website is managed from Ireland and they've only just got any sort of Apple Pay.

Good to see comic relief is accepting Apple Pay donations along with many other charities sites now.

Definitely-I'll forgive them for allowing Bananarama to release a cover of The Beatles 'Help' now :p.

One thing I have noticed today; I called into Sainsbury's this morning and used another card for Apple Pay. With my TSB Visa Debit card the receipt had the Cardholder Device Verified message i.e. >£30. The credit card I'd used this time?

No CVM message on the receipt.

So I wonder if some banks/building societies have lower limits for Apple Pay?

I don't think the "cardholder verification" means what we think it means. I regularly use Apple Pay for over £30 at Aldi on a weekly basis and the receipt always states "no cardholder verification" and just tonight I was in Chiquitos and paid £38 with Apple Pay and my receipt still said "no cardholder verification".

Ah, OK. That's interesting. I just assumed that "no cardholder verification" applied to all contactless transactions <£30 and for those retailers set up with Apple/Android Pay it said "cardholder device verified" etc.

That's exactly what I thought but it doesn't seem to be the case for a number of my transactions. It could be bank/card related like you mentioned previously?
