I CBA checking but if the BA one is anything like the VA AMEX card, there's also a visa secondary card that gives half the rewards. That's probably a good reason for BA to be slow in allowing it to be used... less points to give out that way.

Maybe but not having Amex in Apple Pay on the app wouldn't really stop anyone using the card. You'd just use Amex the normal way.

Could well be down to the fact AmEx are also starting to cut back on third party agreements on the back of the EU Interchange Fee ruling.

I think by 2019/2020 (not too sure) you'd only be able to get an AmEx card from themselves directly.

Well this card is Amex & fully operated by them. They put the annual fee up last year but to be able to fly 2 people on a return flight to New York in business for £500 each still makes paying the fee worthwhile. Wouldn't surprise me if it changed in future but that'll be more down to BA being **** I suspect!

On a different matter, tried to pay with ApplePay in Currys at Metrocentre & a Sainsbury's petrol station today. Neither accepted it. Not sure Currys even had contactless.

I’ve been to a few Sainsbury’s petrol stations and they all have contactless off. I asked and they said they don’t have it because what if someone pays for the wrong pump they can’t do a refund on contactless. I said to them you can definitely do refunds on contactless, I’ve done it many times at many different retailers. So who knows when that’ll get sorted…
Curry’s are living in the dark ages along with Argos and Holland & Barrett.

Doesn't seem to stop Shell using it, so it does seem like a BS excuse. Are supermarket petrol stations operated by a 3rd party on their behalf?

In terms of Sainsbury's surely it'd be a case of recalling the transaction, choosing refund and asking the customers to use their phone/Watch near the reader?

Wonder why it's taking Argos so long to enable the facility; when Apple Pay first launched their logo was on the website!

Which one is that? I noticed you're near Newcastle that's all so it might be useful for me to know!
[doublepost=1505805184][/doublepost]So I updated my iPad to iOS 11 GM and realised I didn't have any cards in my wallet and noticed a few little handy tweaks. I went to go add a card and it already listed my cards from my phone to add (I'm guessing they now sync across devices through iCloud), so I didn't even need to scan any cards. I did need to put in the security code still. A nice little touch too was that during verification, since I opted for text message, iOS extracted the verification code from the text and autofilled it, verified my card and then it was ready for Apple Pay! Very easy process.

Probably been posted way back in this thread but Sainsbury's now accepts Apple Pay for payments over £30. They were advertising it on all of the trolleys.

Saw the signs on the trolleys yesterday.

If only Lloyds Bank would allow me to use SMS Verification instead of having to call them this would save so much time!

Have you asked why they don't? I've always had an SMS option.

When I get my iPhone 8 Plus on Friday I’ll ask them then.

When Lloyds Bank went onboard with Apple Pay two years ago it was an option so not sure why it isn’t now... and I use my AmEx to pay for my iTunes purchases too so it’s not like they aren’t aware of my history with Apple services.

Suppose we better add Next to the list of retailers stuck behind. I was there for the sale today (against my will at 7am) and even though they have contactless capable readers they just don’t have them enabled.

On the topic of readers capable of contactless payments, I was in John Lewis today and the partner said that theirs are not. I was under the impression all the Ingenico readers that look like the JL ones (Tesco, Sainsbury’s etc.) were, but seemingly not.

I presume they have to pay for new readers and are reluctant to do so after investing in the current ones, particularly when most of their transactions are likely to be over £30. With device payments becoming more common and other retailers supporting CDCVM I hope they change their mind soon!

Chances are they are contactless terminals but they haven’t been updated.

As much as we are not exactly ‘in the know’ or experts on the technology, neither are the customer assistants that often seem to have their own information on their stores’ payment systems.

Interestingly enough though, I have a feeling the latest terminal updates may enable the >£30 payments via APay?

John Lewis and Waitrose are very odd; Apple Pay at Waitrose but loyalty card not wallet-enabled. John Lewis loyalty card wallet-enabled but no contactless....
Sports direct can be put in the dark ages, and really funny I don’t think StormFront (Apple premium reseller in Luton) still supports it either...

Paid for my MOT at towcester VW with my phone today. Freaked the poor service guy out, you’d think by now it wasn’t a surprise...
