Been reading through this thread a bit and tried to do some research, couldn't find anything though. Does anyone know if any UK banks already support Apple Pay for cash withdrawals? I saw some Apple Pay cash machines in the US and thought it was quite a good idea!

I currently mostly live in Germany and I'm not in the UK all too often at the moment so I'm not up to date on what the banks offer and what they don't.
NatWest / RBS (same company) allow you to withdraw cash from their ATMs using a button in their app.

I have a spare account with them just for this purpose, you can transfer money to them instantly from your main bank’s app.

In terms of Apple Pay Cash I wonder if they'll likely pair up with someone like Wirecard Services (Curve, .boon)?

I noticed Tesco upgraded the software in my store on their self-service checkouts but it's still capped to £30....

I recently restored my iPhone SE to iOS 11.2.3 and Apple Pay Cash appeared in the Wallet app; couldn't proceed obviously as I'm a non-US resident but makes you wonder if we might see some updates if they hold an event in the next few weeks?

While I know this thread is more about bricks and mortar/in-store Apple Pay acceptance, Fat Face are now saying they take Apple Pay for online sales. Online in the U.K. seems rather slow to take off.

It does, definitely. Don’t know why, however, as Apple Pay online (whilst still Card Not Present) must be safer than having a customer’s CCV code!

Certainly safer for the customer. I guess the retailers don’t care about that though!

Tesco show their true colours by pushing their app and not allowing Apple Pay above £30. They presumably don’t want to lose the data from being able to track cards.

Apple does have an official solution to this with contactless loyalty cards that the payment terminal can request at the same time as the credit card. Sadly only Walgreens US (who have actually owned Boots for a couple of years now!), Kohl's US, and Coca-Cola US support it.

I absolutely hate the Tesco app for this reason. I have no idea why the hell they just don’t support Apple Pay. Probably because any Apple Pay transactions mean they have to give Apple a cut?! ‍♂️

In terms of Tesco (as I work for them) I guess one way around trying to get them to support Apple Pay >£30 would be to contact the customer service team.

They probably get a lot of requests as it is already but the more of us who get in touch... hopefully it’ll mean they may well consider it in the future?

The integration of Clubcard in the Wallet app a la Walgreen’s would be great; maybe then customers of ours who use the app but tend to forget to swipe the card won’t have to worry about losing out on any points then :)

I’m afraid I just find it rather cynical of them - Sainsbury’s seem to manage and we know there are no technical reasons why it can’t be done. At least the Shell App allows use of ApplePay & still gets them their data, although that’s a pre-payment system that isn’t necessary for Tesco.

I hear where you’re coming from; there are a fair few Tesco Bank customers who are less than happy they support Apple Pay but not Google Pay on their forums...

FYI myprotein.com now accepts Apple Pay. Great news for me as I frequently order from them.

Also my dentist accepted Apple Pay over £30. Had to pay for my check up and my wife’s and it was £41! The fact I could use Apple Pay softened the blow a bit.
