Fenwick (in Newcastle at least) take Apple Pay >£30. Paid for a TV for £1888. Salesman couldn't believe it.

I assume they are referring to Pay+. I’m not aware of any stores which are trialling higher value payments; could be Welwyn Garden City where our Head Office is?

Sorry bit late as reading back through the thread but I was able to use higher payments at the Rickmansworth and Hatfield store until fairly recently. They seem to have switched that off again now though. Both are close to head office so makes sense.

Another place to add to the list: Oak Furnitureland. They take Apple online and in-store (limitless). Paid for a Sofa which was over £30.

I was recently in the UK and I never had any transactions denied. And plenty of transactions were over £30. It's because it's from an American bank, right? I was at dinner w/ a friend and tapped my phone on a somewhat splurgey check and he about fell out of his chair. lol. I've used in the cab to/from LHR as well on plenty of trips. This is a bit of a long thread so not sure if you want my list of places where it was used for larger amount. Happy to list if requested.

If what you're suggesting is that foreign cards don't have the £30 contactless limit, then no it is nothing to do with being an American bank. You just happened to use it in places that take contactless payments over £30.

I went to savers yesterday, where I have used Apple Pay on multiple occasions. When I got to the till to pay I reached out to pay with my watch. The guy at the till said to me you can try that if you want but it’s not going to work. I didn’t say anything and just proceeded to pay with my watch as I would normally do. When the transaction went through the guy looked shocked and said how did you do that? How did that work. I did feel a little bit smug but I didn’t show it.

Something I’ve noticed, from time to time on the London buses and underground ticket barriers, the  watch fails to complete the transaction but then o try the phone and it always goes through.

I noticed this when I was in London last month; it performed 90% of the time on Apple Watch but misbehaved on the Emirates cable cars.

Hopefully this will be a thing of the past when TfL support Express Transit.

There’s also a Travel Express option now for use on public transport without the need for authentication on the latest iOS 13 beta

You mean the one discussed on the previous page a couple of months ago? ;)

I really want Apple Pay Cash as well. I do wonder why it's taken so long give Apple fairly close relationship with Barclays in the UK.

And E.U/U.K. regulations will likely mean less generous cash back rates unless Apple decide to swallow the lower Interchange fee profits which has lead to banks etc lowering earning rates and/or removing ‘perks’ altogether.

I went to b&q in Leicester today. Not only do they not support limitless Apple Pay, they don’t even accept contactless at all. I’m sure I read somewhere that contactless support is going to be compulsory by 1st January
