it was Sept previously however recently they are leaning on October
It takes about a month to update all the terminals as many terminals only check once every 30 days for updates. Larger retailers that use separate POS systems like restaurants and some retail stores may manually update their terminals earlier in the month. You'll find in some stores that one terminal may have a higher limit than another one in the store.

I doubt that well see some terminals in the same store having different maximum values to be able to pay with contractless payment, these POS terminals are connected to the stores network meaning pushing updates are done at the server and are pushed to each POS terminal automatically.

.............so who's gonna leave their supported bank cards at home tomorrow and solely just rely on Apple Pay?!!!

Me. I think I'll take that risk. Also, I bring dinner from the night before plus drinks also. Not much danger of me being caught out to be honest. I'd only be a little nervous if i used my debit card to travel on the underground.

I was referring to small stores or restaurants that use independent POS terminals but still have more than one.

...if only we could slot our iPhones into the old cash machines in the street, when we needed physical cash - the bank card would REALLY be redundant then!!!!! LOL :D

Cash withdrawal with an iPhone is already possibly if you're with Natwest. With the Natwest app you can choose the amount you want to withdraw and it'll give you a temporary code to enter into a cash machine. No card needed

Should be concern at lack of official confirmation about tomorrow's launch.

I don't think so. If we needed a software update them Apple would want to make sure people knew about this. They don't.

It's a simple flick of a switch by Apple and banks. All the signs (HSBC confirmation, leaked memos, stickers going up at Mcdonalds and despatching Pay decals) point to tomorrow.

Just a case of sitting and waiting.

My sleep pattern is naff so I'm sure I'll be checking throughout the night and will keep and eye on this forum too.

I'll probably be awake until just after midnight so I'll check the forums and the wallet app.

If it is activated by tomorrow morning i may break my diet a little and go purchase a croissant from M&S or a sausage and egg from McD's :)

No guarantee it'll go live at midnight, it might be geared around Cupertino time so it might not go live until tomorrow evening - I'd feel safer taking the gamble on Wednesday!

Why am I STILL with Barclay's when you have banks such as NatWest offering this great innovation. This is truly a world without a bank cards!!! I like it...

Out of all my banks NatWest is my favourite for their app - cardless withdrawal, TouchID support and fully native - not just a crummy webview.

Personally i'm with Natwest, they're supporting Apple Pay, Touch ID login and their app is great apart from the fact it doesn't support the iPhone 6 screen considering it's been almost a year how can they have forgotten to implement something so basic?

I heard they will put finger print readers on them soon so you'll not need anything. Just your nfc chip implanted under your skin to go with your finger print.

Just went into the Apple Store and asked a couple of members of staff about if they "knew what time it's launching tonight". However they really didn't seem to think it would be and said that even their card terminals had not been replaced with ones that would support contactless / Apple Pay which they were sure would be happening for day 1. They and the managers had been told to say July 31st.

However, I asked them to double press the side button on their watch, and on one of theirs (UK) it did come up with the "go on your phone to add cards to Apple Pay". So who knows!

My work's IT department released our one page guide to processing Apple Pay this afternoon, confirms we will accept it from tomorrow the 14th. Also interestingly later in the year we will support not only the £30 contactless limit but what was referred to as "higher value payments for Apple Pay".

Asking an Apple Store employee a question like this is like asking a gold fish to climb a tree, truly pointless.

Apple Store employees really know very little about anything!
