Lloyds are not committing to any date when they say 'Coming soon". I mean just how long is a piece of string?
I think they have put that message out to deter customers from defecting to other banks.
I haven't had an email that macrumors said was being sent out by Lloyds or any type of comms.
I am not holding my breath on this one

You might not have received the email, if you decided against receiving marketing emails.

I thought the increase is being rolled out across retailers from 1st sept, so it's not up to the banks but the retailers themselves to do this?

It'll be messy for a few months if so; walk into Waitrose, spend £29 no bother and not be able to in M&S (for example).
The limit for each currency is also stored on the card. It'll be updated when you use the card for a chip and pin transaction.

"Autumn" is such a vague Apple thing to say.

My bet is that on the 9th, Tim will be telling you about how UK customers love Apple Pay and that they are adding new banks TODAY and several more before the end of the year.

Sounds entirely plausible.

Wouldn't surprise if it is Apple who has chosen banks for first wave then the second wave.

Surely from lloyds group perspective, a launch on the 9th could be seen 2 ways. Either it gets them loads of coverage, or my personal opinion is their launch could be swamped by any coverage of the new iPhone and Apple TV.

Apple like to mention these things in their events.

"Apple Pay launched in the UK in July with x amount of banks. X amount of people have used it and tomorrow Lloyds & banks X Y & Z are launching support for Apple Pay"

The banks go when they're ready tho. Look at the banks in the US that launched, loads of them didn't wait for an Apple event. Thus why I think it's flawed logic.

I would rather they wait and confirm it's 100% working before they launch. Rather than having issues like HSBC.

Banks in the US are different. They have hundreds of banks and credit unions throughout all the states.

In the UK there are a couple of handfuls of major banks. They can be name on hands and toes and pretty much the whole country is covered. Hence only a second or third wave could have everyone onboard already.

This is now showing at the top of Internet Banking. I'm going for 1st Sept to 10th Sept window for my guess.

There's been something similar for about a week now on Halifax online banking. Still hoping it launches this week :) otherwise those "very soon" emails from lloyds have a very poor definition of very soon.

Depends on the context of very soon. Xmas is very soon compared to 2020!!

It appeared in my Internet Banking pages as I said alongside a banner ad at the bottom, it redirects to their information page here: http://www.lloydsbank.com/help-guid...n/promotion/apay/banners/r1sp/s/rl/applepayhp

Interesting piece of information on that page.

There are a small number of other cards you won’t be able to use. They are: International accounts, non-personal accounts, Visa credit cards

Wonder if this also applies to HSBC (although I can't find anything mentioning it) and explains why I can't add my HSBC Visa Credit Card to Apple Pay.

HSBC and NatWest haven't used Visa on their credit cards for some years now so I'm guessing it's something to do with them being legacy products.

Fully appreciate Nationwide still use Visa on their credit cards.

I think you're right, Halifax have the same statement on their site, but they switched to mastercard some years ago. I can't imagine there are many Visa credit cards around.

The banks have to pay a tokenisation licence fee on each type of card (I.e MasterCard credit, Visa credit, Visa debit, MasterCard Debit and American Express). The Lloyds Banking group already currently issues Visa Debit, MasterCard Credit and Amex cards to new customers, so I doubt they see any value in offering it for a small amount of customers on old Visa credit cards that are probably in a very small minority of its customers hands.

Just tried using Apple Pay in my local co-op, second time and the reader doesn't pick it up. It was the same till as the first time, so I'm betting it's that reader as it picked my card up when using that instead. I know it's not my phone or watch as used them fine elsewhere. The woman at the till says it seems to work temperamentally, but I have seen her on other tills. It's annoying tho.
