Barclay's have said they will support it, in the future. When ever that's going to be.

True. But I tell my wife I'm going to tidy the garage, she asks when? I say sometime in the future.

My definition of 'the future' is never. Let's hope Barclays don't have the same definition

Hey guys,

Received an update from the Apple Senior advisor working my HSBC issue today.

Apple said:
The engineer working on your case updated me this morning as well to let me know the same error is being sent back to Apple when you’re trying to add the debit card and this error means that Visa is not allowing it to be processed so when you try to add your Visa debit card, Apple Pay is waiting on Visa to send back an alert to say its ok to add this card and receives the provision from the bank to let it go through, however, this never happens and once again we are prompted with the same error from Visa.

As stated earlier in the thread, it turns out that this could well be a Visa issue. HSBC/Apple truly are not at fault here, Visa are the ones that are blocking the cards from being provisioned. I've also heard some reports that this issue is occurring for some customers that do not bank with HSBC. From what I understand, Apple and HSBC are now collaborating in order to get this issue fixed as quickly as possible.

Hopefully I'll find out more today!

Yep, someone from HSBC told me today that all 3 parties are investigating this issue together now. Maybe light at the end of this tunnel?

It seems to be more an issue with the terminal type that they use. A lot of retailers like McDonalds and the Co-op are the same.

I had issues with Morrison's yesterday. I called American Express and the guy looked into it for me. He said they have an in-house notification that while contactless American Express will work, Apple Pay AmEx will not in certain stores.

They have a date for this to be rectified as September 15th.

Stores affected are: Tesco, Morrisons, Co-op, McDonalds, and EAT.

Thanks. Keep us posted. I've received my HSBC credit card ( which happens to be a MasterCard and not Visa ) yesterday which added just fine on my watch. I did have an issue getting the verification to work on my phone but I called up HSBC ApplePay support and they got it activated whilst I was on the phone. My debit card is on my phone but I still can't get it to provision on my watch.

As it happens due to a separate issue which I won't go into here I did have to cancel my debit card and get issued a new one but even the new one won't provision to my watch. It's obviously a back end issue most likely with Visa.

That's good to hear that they have at least acknowledged the issue and are working on a solution. At the moment I've got my HSBC debit and credit cards as well as my Amex card on my phone. I only have my HSBC credit card ( which as it happens is a MasterCard and not a Visa ) and my Amex card on my watch. I just need to be able to add my HSBC debit card to my watch.

My Morrisons supermarket are now advertising Apple Pay. Haven't tried anything over £20 with them yet though but I guess it will still be under £20 transactions

The co-op near me have signs for Apple Pay, they also clearly say it's for transactions £20 or less. Looks like they are making nice and clear, shame other retailers aren't doing the same.

Hey guys,

I havent heard from HSBC/Apple yet, but I have received my shiny new Nationwide card! When I tried provisioning the card for the first time, I got a familiar error message; "Card not Added, Contact your card issuer for more information".

After waiting a while and transferring some money in however, guess what? It worked!

My three HSBC cards still refuse to provision, but at least I can use Apple Pay now.

I attempted to add my Lloyds Bank debit card which gets to terms and conditions but after that it fails and says to contact the card issuer.

Just tried and don't get that far anymore...

Just get
Could Not Add Card
Try again later or contact your card issuer for more information.

Previously could get to the T's & C's

I really don't understand why you are all trying it. It could end up blocking you when it eventually goes live for those banks. The banks have said they haven't launched yet so why keep trying.

Because when it happened with Natwest, I got in! Why not try? I sincerely doubt they'd block me.

There does, however, seem to be some spam protection built in (either by Apple/Card operator/Bank). If you have repeated 'failed' attempts, it could delay you being able to use Apple Pay when it eventually becomes available.

Loving Apple Pay on the watch, bought a laptop for my daughter today in Cabot Circus Bristol Apple Store. I said can I pay for that with Apple Pay on the watch, the guy that served us, said sure. Two clicks on the side button and held it to his mobile pay unit and 2 seconds later the watch blipped to confirm the transaction. Very easy.

I have been able to add my new HSBC credit card, so I phoned them up for the second time today. I was told to try again in 3 business days as every time I've tried and failed it is now probably stopping it.
