We're I live Vodafone is about the only signal I can get, Orange is hopeless a O2 is not much better. View attachment 615594

If when the Cornerstone project reaches your area you'll notice a difference in your o2/Vodafone signal.

I work in Ashbourne Derbys. and we were stuck with GPRS for what seemed like eons.

Got upgraded to 4G last year and I've achieved 70 down at times.

Back to Apple Pay just used it in the Post Office for the first time. Took longer to print the receipt than it did authorising the payment!

First time using :apple:pay on the watch yesterday at Boots and M&S, worked flawlessly. Both times it took longer to print the receipt than confirm the purchase, well chuffed:D

Something to watch out for.

Had an declined transaction when buying a 6S in the Apple Store today using a 6 to pay, although I used A-Pay last week for a £500+ payment. Same card with pin number went through ok. Rang the bank afterwards to activate AP on the 6S and asked about the decline, they reckoned it was fraud prevention systems chipping in. I have registered my mobile phone to try mitigate this in the future via text message - but what's the point of a credit limit if even the bank don't quite trust AP themselves?

My first significant waitrose payment I.e. £160 odd took a week to be debited from my (Natwest) account. It's a pity they've suspended payments over £30 again, I do wonder if that has been due to pressure from banks. I hope not.

So after Waitrose going back to the 30 pound limit, is M&S still without a limit? I don't go there often, but would be good to know to avoid embarrassment.

I've not seen anything to suggest otherwise *however* I've only usually spent £10 max. at M&S so can't confirm nor deny.

Just used Apple Pay at my local Tesco Express/Esso forecourt for some groceries and it was quick to read/authorise there too.

Called into Boots the Chemist today for some stuff.

Was a lovely cashier who served me and her boyfriend had recently set her iPhone up for Apple Pay...

She said she was worried if the phone was lost/stolen someone could use it to pay for stuff... Told her if that happened it'd be no good to anyone else unless their fingerprint(s) were registered to the device.

I had another failed transaction in a Starbucks last Friday. It worked on the phone but failed on the terminal. I'm guessing failures like this are caused by a problem with authenticating the cryptogram which is sent from the phone to the payment network. I ended up using my contactless card which worked fine. Even if apple pay was more widely accepted I wouldn't like to have to rely solely on my phone for payment as apple pay is not reliable enough. Contactless cards have the advantage in that they can authenticate offline.

I used to get this with the 6 occasionally last year, but would then find the transaction wouldn't be listed in the Wallet app - have been to some of those stores since, and it works better now.
I would blame the hardware at the shop:

* The reader needing to be a more recent model;
* The reader needing more recent firmware

Managed to use my Watch on the Underground today and I felt much more confident pre-authorising it before I reached the gates than I would have done just using my iPhone.

Didn't hold anyone up at the barriers and the WH Smith on the Upper Concourse at St. Pancras read my Watch dead quick when using the Self Service till.

Seemed a lot quicker than the one I used at Derby (at the Intu) despite being the same terminals!

You can pre-authorise the phone too. I am using my IPhone from last summer on the underground and it was always as fast as a normal oyster card .

Used mine in tesco express in Luton today and it was slow... The card reader part was OK, but authorising the transaction on the self scan took a significant amount longer than I've had anywhere else. All for £3!

Hmmm... That's weird as in my experience(s) Tesco Express/Metro have processed my payments relatively quickly!

Poor... even Aldi has taken contactless and credit cards since last year, no wonder they are stealing market share from Sainsburys. Ok a bit sensationalistic and over-generalised, but just sayin'.
