I think the main concern is the role of a government, any government, telling Apple what to do with its services.

Look at the crap Apple has been giving the EU for the past months/year over it's DMA (Digital Markets Act) requirements, they have moaned, complained, gone to court, still moaned and complained, rumoured to leave the EU if Apple was forced to comply with certain rulings and yet when China tells Apple to comply with it's rulings/law, Apple complies with nothing more than 'we comply with the law even if we disagree'. That is not exactly how Apple behaved with the EU was it. Just goes to show how important China is to Apple because when China say's 'jump' Apple replies with 'how High'. When the EU tells Apple to 'jump', Apple replies with 'F off, we'll see you in court'.

Apples and Oranges comparison..

The EU demanded a complete rewrite of Apple's business model. That's very different from evicting some apps from the current store.

No, they are spreading manufacturing across other Asian countries, Indonesia being the latest, in order to lessen their dependence on China. That's a smart move.

I think Apple is good for now in the US until the elections in the fall. The outcome of those elections will determine what happens to Apple in 2025.

The WhatsApp development team is guilty of the "let's keep our costs as low as possible by building one universal app that works across multiple platforms". The end result is a crap experience.

I think people are over thinking this one. If Apple can’t have these apps then neither can any android device in China either. So how does this hurt Apple in anyway?

I’m sure meta and all the other social media companies are not banking on making any money on Chinese territory. This has been going on for a very long time.

The losers here are Chinese citizens. That’s it. But that’s always been like that. A lot don’t care anyways.
