I still use headphones which belonged to my grandfather. Not sure any grandkids will be inheriting AirPods.
Not surprised about your grandfather having wired headphones. Your grandkids will certainly be using wireless.

I am tired of making sure I got my headphone adapter with me. That is not good user experience and it just doesn’t work straight out of the box which Apple products used to do.
And no, wireless headphones sounds terrible, I have tried them all. I only have a pair of wireless headphones for when I am flying due to the noise cancellation feature it has.
Looks like I will go to Android if the next generations $1500 iPhone’s have no headphone output.

You knew before you bought the iPhone X, that it didn't have what you wanted. You made the purchase anyway. And now you complain to Apple. Illogical.I am tired of making sure I got my headphone adapter with me. That is not good user experience and it just doesn’t work straight out of the box which Apple products used to do.

Sounds completely logical to meYou knew before you bought the iPhone X, that it didn't have what you wanted. You made the purchase anyway. And now you complain to Apple. Illogical.
Maybe on MacRumors where everything is in a bubble. What’s a headphone jack?

Yes, pushing wireless headphone has little to do with better tech. It’s because producing them could earn more money, in general.
What I am talking about is the entire industry, not a single company, let alone Apple. Bluetooth devices are generally more expensive than wired counterpart you know.Since a lot of companies make BT headphones, I'm not sure Apple stands to make much money from them.

I know this sounds crazy, but what is happening is after Apple deciding to remove headphone jack, everybody follows. Without jack, people are forced/pushed to buy wireless headphone. Then, the entire industry makes more money. So Apple removed the headphone jack so everybody makes money? I'm not sure that makes sense. I'm willing to pay more for BT since they are much more convenient.

I like BT convenience factor but I also like the reliability of wired connection. Also zero delay.

It seems that you ignore the other word called “push”. Really kind of you.Forced into wireless?
Not yet.
Apple makes a little 4" extension cable that goes on the end of your wired headphone cable.
And before anyone says "what if I forget or lose my dongle?".... why don't you keep the dongle in the same place you keep your headphones or car keys? You don't forget those, do you?
This can't be that difficult.
Seriously. There are over 100 things you need to keep track of every single day. Maybe more!
So what is it about this one item that is so goddamned hard to keep?
It seems that you ignore the other word called “push”. Really kind of you.
You also forget about a fact that those dongles are small. Easy to lose. They are just not as expensive as a fk AirPods.
Those 100+ things, your body will do 80 of them. Other 20 are your daily routines. I won’t dive this further though.
Since "forced" was the first word you used... I thought that was the main tone of your comment.
If you really meant to say "gently pushed in the direction of wireless"... you shouldn't have used the word "forced" at all.
I'm glad we cleared this up. No need to dive back in.
Or, sell your X, and buy a 6S Plus like I still have.I am tired of making sure I got my headphone adapter with me. That is not good user experience and it just doesn’t work straight out of the box which Apple products used to do.

I am sorry for my bad wording sequence. I should've toned down that a little bit.
I still think tech industry is somehow forcing people to choose wireless headphone over wired. But I am glad we only need to hold our own point and keep the argument at bay.

On a similar note, I’m still really really upset that Apple killed the floppy disk. No, seriously. Why would they have done away with something so forward thinking and necessary for a true computing experience? It’s almost like they did it accidentally on purpose in 1998 just to tick me off so I would post this today.
They killed the floppy drive to force us all to buy cd-rom drives.
Yes. What people are whining about mainly, is the inability to use wired headphone without a dongle. They hate such inconvenience. No problem.
And like I said... it's not impossible to use your favorite wired headphones with an iPhone 7, 8 or X... you just need an extra little cable on the end of the longer cable you already have.
The way people talk around here... they make it sound like all these new Apple phones are wireless-only.
But they're not... you can use wired headphones. (with an adapter, of course)![]()
