I think the headphone jack is useful, but life without one has been fine.

By the way... you don't have to abandon the Apple ecosystem. If you want the jack, just buy an iPhone 7. Apple still sells a solution that will work for you, if that's the most important feature for you.

If you feel like trying something new and think you'll be happier with an android phone, then go buy one. Enjoy!

What's with the headphone jack? Get over it. Get compatible headphones or buy the 3.5mm adaptor that comes with the iPhone. It's ugly I don't want to see it again on my iPhone.

It’s not like no one was using Bluetooth headphones before Apple got rid of the jack. It’s a trend that was already happening, and then Apple jumped on board. By the time I got my first phone without a jack (8+ last fall), I didn’t even really notice, because I hadn’t been using wired headphones in quite awhile.

You DO realize that your only options for flagship Android phones still with headphone jacks are phones made by either LG or Samsung, right?

Just wanted to make sure you understood how limited your options actually are now.

Read the OP. He doesn't buy phones with a headphone jack. He buys a phone without a headphone jack then posts on a user forum he isn't going to buy another unless the jack is put back. So he'll go for anyone except LG or Samsung.

Although I am a total Apple fan I too dislike that they took away the headphone jack. I have terribly small ears and my bluetooth headset falls off of my face. I just ordered a different set so hopefully it will help me keep them on.

The iPhone 7 doesn’t have an earphone jack. iPhone 6S was the last iPhone equipped with one

I am tired of making sure I got my headphone adapter with me. That is not good user experience and it just doesn’t work straight out of the box which Apple products used to do.

And no, wireless headphones sounds terrible, I have tried them all. I only have a pair of wireless headphones for when I am flying due to the noise cancellation feature it has.

Looks like I will go to Android if the next generations $1500 iPhone’s have no headphone output.

And seeing as some major Android manufacturers are now removing the headphone jack, enjoy

Way before they removed the headphone jacks I was using Bluetooth headphones cause I just don’t like the wires..always getting tangled or wire breaking etc.

It's Day 3 of your campaign and Apple has still not agreed to add the headphone jack.

So what's your deadline for jumping to Android?

Ultimatum noted. Next.

I just switched from a Galaxy S8+ to the X. Who cares about not having a headphone jack. If you don't like it, get a Galaxy or another phone. That's why we have choices. I switched because I wanted to give iOS a try after 3 Android phones. If you're switching because of a headphone jack, you've got bigger problems.

History shown, Apple NEVER goes back. Their attitude is, they know what customers want before customers even know it (not important whether you agree). Enjoy your last iPhone.

Thanks for letting us know. More importantly, why are you even buying Apple products at all, given your history of starting anti-Apple threads?

Glutton for punishment? :D

Really? The iPhone 7 is where the headphone jack is removed from first.

For me it's never been a problem. I do have a nice set of Dunu Titans which would require the dongle should I choose to use it.

But I've been using Bluetooth for years and wouldn't give up my current set of B & O H9i's.

I have Sennhieser IE60’s and though I consider them average earbuds they better than beats X.

I too dislike having that white dongle attached, I feel it on the cord when wearing my buds and it’s so noticeabe, ugly, and makes them look like they are Jerry rigged.

I almost switched to android, but other more important factors swayed me to the X and i’ll live with not having a 3.5mm jack over what I was giving up moving to a droid ‘to me’.

Everyone except Samsung I believe has followed suit with proprietary audio jack and that phone comes with bloatware on top of the android OS if you don’t mind that.

I’ve been looking for some wireless earbuds or perhaps ones with a lightning adapter that are worth it however I have found none that are better sound quality IMO over my IE60’s and I’m not vesting in 3.5mm earbuds any longer. I’ll save the specifics for another thread.

In the end I don’t use my phone primarily for music, I have my computer set up with the Schitt DAC and amp to push HD650’s when I want to listen to music correctly.
That's some nice equipment you've got.

I own a set of Bluetooth B & O H9i's and I swear that this is as good BT has got soundwise that it is almost transparent with my X. Plus, I appreciate the ANC and the design and build. At £450 they weren't cheap but also have a cable lest the battery run out plus I can swap out the battery in less than a minute. Replacement batteries are £40 but I won't need one for a long time (I hope).

Yep, they skate to where the puck is going to be, not where it has been.

I could never switch to an android phone just because the deleted 3.5 mm Jack. Even though I did use it quite frequently, I find Bluetooth/AirPods to be much more convenient with the freedom of wires. But the real experience comes down to the software with the phone, and iOS will be very difficult to merge to another phone just because of the 3.5 Jack.
