I would say the future has been wireless for some time, it’s just a matter of those willing to accept or make the transition or not. There is certainly nothing wrong with preferring wired headphones, but I think the trade is consumers are willing to have the convenience without the wires and having their phone tethered to them, Which Bluetooth sound albeit is more than adequate enough for me.

I am tired of making sure I got my headphone adapter with me. That is not good user experience and it just doesn’t work straight out of the box which Apple products used to do.

And no, wireless headphones sounds terrible, I have tried them all. I only have a pair of wireless headphones for when I am flying due to the noise cancellation feature it has.

Looks like I will go to Android if the next generations $1500 iPhone’s have no headphone output.

Enjoy android. Wired headphones are a thing of the past in my eyes. Love my AirPods. I do enjoy seeing folks with their wired phones on the treadmill as it goes flying away as they run

no point in complaining it wont bring it back. just get over it its not a big deal when it comes down to it. We have options. much worst things to worry about in life then a headphone jack

agreed. Anybody that workout knows the feeling it is with wireless headphones. Its a completely freeing experience. Same with people in sports. My skating days I would of loved having nothing in my pants and just wireless headphones with nothing in the way(a tape player in my pants was never fun haha). The future is wireless.

Well, isn't that one big part of the very nature of what places like this online forum are, to express your feelings about something? Sure, going overboard in one way or another is one thing, but expressing an opinion of dislike (or like) is pretty much par for be course, as they say.

As someone as myself as a weightlifter, not having the wires with wired headphones makes a massive difference. They don’t get in the way or tangled, and the AirPods are perfect for that, which I don’t even care about the sound quality, I just want to convenience and freedom without the wires or the weight of the wires tugging on the regular EarPods as they did before the Airpods were released.

Except, it is a rather common criticism.

It's ridiculous. If a product doesn't have the features you want, don't buy that product, buy the one that does. It's not earth-shattering. Might as well ask how every car manufacturer dares to not include heated seats.

Not all Android phones have headphone jacks either, so the OP can go complain at those manufacturers too.

If a manufacturer's line of products suddenly drop a fairly standard and basic feature that many people make use of, it's somehow irrational to have people with mixed feelings about it and some complain about that? Happens when it comes to all kinds of things in life for basically ever. What's new or strange about that? Now, going with some ultimatums, or hyperbole, or crusade, or something like that, that's somewhat different.

You enjoy the misfortune of others?

The presence of a 3.5mm headphone jack in no way impedes on those who choose to use bluetooth earbuds/headphones.

The point is about having options. I understand that for some, having a choice is a problem... because it requires them to make a decision.

Apple isn't going to bring back the 3.5mm jack so for those of us that want/need it, we're going to have to go elsewhere for it. That's fine for me. Although I'm enjoying my iPhone SE, there are half a dozen Android phones that I'd be just as satisfied with.

People complain about everything. Doesn’t change anything really. We all can cry over things but we have to realize it’s done and over with for a while now. Embrace the future of wireless.

Well, yes, people complain and whether or not it might change anything it doesn't mean that complaints might not have at least some validity to them, or shouldn't be made or discussed to one degree or another.

100’s of these post should not of been made the last few years. There should be a sticky for all the headphone complainers to get together and sing songs of hate towards Apple together. Meanwhile they buy every year.
We get it people complain about things. Over and over and over again. Doesn’t need new and 100’s of threads about this nonsense.
Should be off topic by now

I love wired headphones. I hate charging things.

To all the wireless lovers - keep using BT devices. A headphone jack doesn’t stop BT from working fine. The rest of us really like wired tech.

Apple just wants to sell more BT headphones. This was a business decision, not an aesthetic decision.

Bring back the jack!

I have some $1000 IEM’s which i usually use with an external DAC. But when the battery runs dead, I have to rely on a dongle to use it (so i need to make sure I have this dongle with me also)

I have the Bose QC35 II myself (which actually is alot better than the Beats Studio 3 that I also tried) but it is nowhere close to my IEM’s. But I only use it for flights to get rid of the engine noise.

Didn't read this whole thread so not sure if this was suggested already. simple solution buy a dongle for each headphone you have ($9) keep it on the headphone, it will just add an inch or 2 to your headphone so not cumbersome... and Walla! problem solved!! stop making a mountain of a mole hil for the sake of complaining.

reminds me of the guy who started a thread a while back complaining about having to buy a dongle... he had an iphone X $1000, 2 pairs of headphones adding up to $1200 but a $9 dongle gave him pause lol.

I agree in the sense that Apple wanted to introduce the AirPods at the exact same time when they deleted 3.5 mm Jack with the iPhone 7, but they had to have some offering in place and a reason to why they wanted to delete the 3.5 Jack and introduce the Airpods. It would have looked horrible if they would have deleted it without actually having a proper explanation other then it was antiquated and they wanted to use that space for more valuable technology.

Soon you won't be able to buy wired headphones I'd bet.

Only in an Apple store.

You'll be able to buy cheap wired headphones in a CVS, Target, Walmart, on Amazon, Best Buy, Micro Center, Kroger, Sprint, Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, Radio Shack (I bet there's one of these stores still out there), every shopping mall in every town, and probably most gas stations.

Try to buy a BT headset in half those stores for under $20 when you lose your wireless headphones.

Gimme my headphone jack back, please. We'll both be happy -- you can be wireless and I'll use my crappy wired headset that I'll probably lose and replace next week for $5.

It is for me just unbelievable how people – try to justify this Apple's pragmatical (not economical) objective irrational choice!

What I hate about the fact that now I must use the dongle is that the audio quality will be probably never better than that where for example the Galaxy S9 has a for me noticeably better audio quality than the Dongle – also better than the S8.

But it’s not just Apple is it? It’s pretty much everyone except Samsung and soon it will be Samsung as well.

You're right: It is not just Apple. But with Android I personally can potentially choose every phone and every dongle that I want. For example: Sony's and HTC's dongle should be very, very good. The LG V30 has a superb audio quality etc.

With the iPhone I *must* stuck with this dongle. I found no DAC which is portable enough for me. Also because of that I'm torn about to switch.

For those members who are upset about the 3.5mm jack missing , can you please also state your earbuds that is not replaceable?

I’ve not heard anyone mention any qaulity earbuds that’s actually worth complaining about that you can’t replace with wireless buds honestly.

If you don’t have premium earbuds I don’t see the problem as the solution is an easy fix.

I gave up Sennheiser IE60’s and 80’s for my X. Here was my thoughts :
