The headphone jack doesn't make or break anything but it had come in handy mutiple times in the last 30 days...

My current phone is the 6s+ so I still have the headphone jack. When Apple announce the iphone 7 without it I was mad at first, but 2 years later I don't use the headphone jack anymore. I have my wireless solo3 and airpods for my workouts and honestly I'll never go back to wired headphones again. Wireless is too convenient.

About as equivalent as the overgeneralized statement to which it was in response to.

Actually it’s not..which is why it’s a false equivalency. In order to make your comparison work it would require flying cars becoming standard in which case year phasing out the wheel would make sense in that context.

Airplanes are for flying, and yet most use wheels nonetheless.

(However, that aspect of it wasn't really the main aspect of my original response, as I alluded to earlier.)

That is the main reason I bought the Samsung S9, I luv Apple but NO headphone jack just pi$$ me off..

Why? Buy apple AirPods!

I am tired of making sure I got my headphone adapter with me. That is not good user experience and it just doesn’t work straight out of the box which Apple products used to do.

And no, wireless headphones sounds terrible, I have tried them all. I only have a pair of wireless headphones for when I am flying due to the noise cancellation feature it has.

Looks like I will go to Android if the next generations $1500 iPhone’s have no headphone output.

Just buy wireless earphones, apple AirPods! Bose, Beats... so many options. Why mess with those pesky cables anyway??? Pretty much common sense. The earbud cables always get in the way and you are always tethered to your iPhone. My AirPods allow me to set the iPhone down while doing chores or working. Pretty convenient. Just not sure why you haven’t figured it out yet...

Having a wireless lock is pretty convenient or a video doorbell or something else of that nature is petty convenient too, but it doesn't mean that someone everyone has to like and want those things and is somehow strange for having a regular lock that works with a key or a regular doorbell that just rings.

I don’t understand people who switch to Android because of this. They are willing to spend $1000 every 1-2 years on a phone but they still want to keep the old cables and don’t want to buy a wireless earphone.

Why should they have to, if they already have a decent pair of wired headphones? What benefit was there to getting rid of the universal standard 3.5mm stereo jack?

"Tethered to your phone"... isn't the whole point of the mobile phone to be pocketable? o_O

I have a wireless set but I often use the 3.5mm jack for many other purposes. Why shouldn't this universal standard for audio equipment for many decades remain on the device?

Thanks for letting us know. More importantly, why are you even buying Apple products at all, given your history of starting anti-Apple threads?

Seriously one thread? (The link does not even work) And he is the anti Apple christ?
[doublepost=1525842484][/doublepost]You are pretty much asking the Chevy crowd what they think of Fords (Or vise versa). What answer do you think you will get here?

I can say the exact same thing for a phone. Why people upgrade when a 2, even 3 years old phone can essentially do the same thing as the new flagship one? In my book, if someone upgrade as often as I can see on this forum, thats because they like new tech. Buying a wireless headphone is not that expensive these days and honnestly, using a wired headphone on a mobile device is just not convenient at all.

If someone really, really want to use his old headphone until it dies and he really like his iPhone, he could just stay with the 6s+. Its still a good phone even today. But people wants to upgrade every year and they expect to still have the same technology year after year...

Maybe I'm a little simplistic, but thats how I see it. If its because of a money issue they still don't want to buy wireless headphone, just don't throw another $1000 on another android flagship device and upgrade if you really need it. Eventually, all phones will cease to support the headphone jack.

I think you’re reading too deep on a tech forum, which are a minority. The Majority of consumers likely don’t switch to android just because of Apple deleting the 3.5 mm Jack. Especially given with the growth of Bluetooth, it’s not really a present problem as it is for some who are true audiophiles that may ultimately prefer Bluetooth or a wired connection. In the end, it’s either iOS or android is the real reason what someone chooses for a preference.

I know its not everyone, but I say this for people on this threat thinking switching because of that. I know for audiophile people, the headphone jack is a must, but like others said, I think mobile device are not made for high quality music listening. I'm a music lover too, and my wireless headphone sounds pretty well for what I expect when I listen music on my phone (essentially for workouts or walk)

If I really want to stop and listen music seriously, I'll go to my computer or my dedicated stereo with high end speakers

I use headphones all day, wireless headphones don’t last long enough, have inferior sound, and are one more thing you have to recharge.

I have a cheap and cheerful SE but don’t use the headphone jack. You’re welcome to it. Dangling wires are history. I do have a pair of Bose sport wireless earbuds that switch very smoothly between my ‘phone, iPad and just recently a newly acquired AW too. Try fitting a jack socket into an AW!

Apple: Don't put back headphone jack or I will switch to Android. It's either me or the OP! Make your decision!

What's the advantage to you of not having it? It makes no difference -- it's not like they replaced the headphone jack with something else.

To your first question, people generally upgrade because their device gets slow. I'd keep my iPhone 6 if permanent/forced iOS updates didn't bring it to a crawl. There's no other reason for me to pay hundreds of dollars for an 8, which has the same form factor, same screen, same battery life, most of the same features, etc... but I have to because iOS runs like a dog (which it doesn't have to, but that's how Apple's done it).

I have a pretty expensive pair of wireless headphones, but I still like to be able to use the 3.5mm jack in various situations -- whether it's other headphones, quickly connecting to audio equipment, or even using my wireless pair when the battery is drained.

But you haven't answered my question: What advantage is had by removing something that many people still use? It makes no difference whether it's there or not to people who exclusively use wireless headphones, but creates a problem for everyone who needs it.
